Melinda is amazing. I never really liked that song until I heard her version of it.

Melinda is great and SO nice. I'll have to listen to this later because I'm on my way to class now, I just wanted to say that the way you still support the rest of the top 10 is amazing.

It is truly amazing, I am so proud of her. Hey Chris, do you know any way of tracking how well MFV is doing on Itunes? Just curious. Thanks for posting this :)

Not sure, really. I always wondered that, though plenty of people seem to know...maybe Rosalee?

Hey guys I'm in the middle of finishing a huge project for class that I've spent over 20 hours on total and I just got news that my grandpa (the living one, obviously) just had a stroke. I think he's okay, it wasn't a major one, but my grandma didn't even bother bringing him to the hospital. He has a pace maker put in and a form of dementia and basically forgot my other grandpa even passed away. It sucks.

So if you could all pray for my living grandpa, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

For Here I go With All My Thoughts -

The best source is probably Mjsbigblog.com. She posts Idol song/album statistics weekly. The stats are from Billboard.com and Ken Barnes at USATODAY/Idol Chatter. Digital download numbers are provided. I don’t know if that is just iTunes (who is the major player in digital downloads, or if other players are involved, too (ex. Rhapsody, Napster, Walmart, ))

A table of digital download services:

MJsbigblog Idol sales figures:

Billboard – Singles:

You can also use Radio&Records Charts tab, select the type/format of music and look for the artist/song. Again, this data is not summarized every day - it’s probably a weekly report.

Some miscellaneous sites on the internet:

This may be data from just a subset of iTunes users, but maybe it’s representative:

This part of the site shows the top 50 items in each category:

I found this site when I googled “iTunes Top Downloads”. Click on the line item you want. This is only good for top hits.

That's it for now.

You can also hear it at www.myspace.com/melindadoolittle, but I'd encourage a download, as myspace music tends to disappear. AHEM! : )

She was very kind to the fans when I saw her at the after show M & G in Memphis. She stayed until everyone who wanted to talk with her had a chance to visit.

Rosalee, you are the queen of internet searches!

Thank you so much Rosalee!

Carrie,
I just prayed for your grandpa AND grandma. You've really been through so much lately and yet still have all the pressures of school to go along with it. I will be remembering you in prayer too.

I hope Melinda does very well w/Valentine. Nice of you, Chris to mention it here.

I saw a few days ago on Rhapsody that Jordin has a single out of the National Anthem as she sang it at the Super Bowl! I know Whitney Houston had a huge seller from her version but was surprised to see they would put out one for Jordin too. It boggles my mind to think that the National Anthem could sell but I have to admit their renditions were awe-inspiring.

Happy Valentines Day to all :).

I concur that Melinda truly is as sweet and gracious in person as she seemed to be on tv. She was so nice when we met her in DC. We were having trouble getting up to talk to her and my mother in law was right behind her but wasn't being pushy enough so I just said, "Melinda, my mother in law is behind you and really wants to give you a hug." She turned around and squeezed the LIFE out of my MIL - it was so cute! Cutest pic ever.... Typical sweet Melinda!

Melinda should do well with her song. And her timing is perfect! I hope that everyone is having a nice Valentine's Day.

Well, what can we say about Season 7 so far?
The spoilers were spot-on about the top 24. Some of them we heard a lot of (mainly the professional plants), and others we know nothing about.
The back stories were mainly of the sob-story variety. I don't know why they can't find an angle on a person to make them interesting without it being a depressing story.
There seem to be a lot more crybabies this year than in past seasons, too. I'm getting tired of all the tears.
While there seems to be a fair amount of talent this year, I can't tell if the selection was fair or not, because I haven't heard all of the 24. I think I agree with Simon and would have liked to see Kyle (the politician) advance. Maybe they were afraid that VFTW would pimp him like Kevin Covais. Brandon Green didn’t make it either. Oh, well.

Here is my Melinda story. . .
We saw the show in Sacramento on my daughter's 18th birthday. Melinda sang happy birthday to her at the after show meet and greet. Pretty special moment. :)

Hey, Happy Valentine's Day, y'all!

DJ took the words right out of my mouth (we do that to each other a lot! LOL)

My daughter and I made chocolate dipped strawberries and cherries for our honeys last night. Let's just say that no one is going to be beating down our doors to have us cater those for their wedding reception, but according to hubby, they did taste good.

Our youngest is heading out to a big Christian youth event in Gatlinburg called Winterfest. I told him to wave at Chris going through Nashville (and of course, I got major eye-rolling for that comment!)

On last night: I thought it was interesting that so many of the stories they focused on were people that ended up getting the boot. I liked the little Kyle guy, too.

Enjoy the rest of your day, blogger friends! Risa

Risa -
Those chocolate dipped strawberries and cherries sound yummy! I haven't made those in years.

The whole point of the back story is to have the audience develop an attachment for a contestant in order to have a better reason to want to vote for them and later, buy their CDs and go to their concerts.

Instead of focusing on the back stories of people who weren't going through, they could have shown us clips of some of the people that did make it, but we didn't see at all up until now.

I hope you're all having a great day! I don't have a significant other so I had fun watching my sister get spoiled. I did get some candy from my mom, though. Yum! Everything is going pretty good here. I get tomorrow off and I need it!

I'll have to say we got the biggest laugh out of the young farmer from Mississippi not seeming upset at all about going home...he thought it was all good....it just meant he didn't have to miss turkey season!

It was almost like they focused on those folks to make us think they were going to make it and then whoosh, they were gone.

Hope y'all enjoyed your Valentine evening. We even managed to get into a restaurant and back home at a decent hour.

rosalee said...

Yeah - us too! The restaurant wasn't even crowded. Harry pointed out this item on the menu "Chicken Rotelle Primavera"....I almost had a heart attack! (yeah - I know it was only pasta!) (LOL)

risalea said...

Gosh, I thought you were about to tell us that some fine cuisine had made its way to NYC! LOL

I think this years top 24 seems like a good group. My mom was positively livid that they didn't let that Josiah kid go through, but I think he's not AI material... plus, he seemed like he might not have been able to emotionally handle the show. The show seems like it's pretty tough on people, and he seemed kind of..sensitive.

I was pretty sad that Brandon Green didn't make it through. The clip they showed of him in Hollywood week was awesome.
However, it seems to me that the one thing this season is really missing is a country singer! Hopefully one of the people they never showed before sing country, because country's my favorite.

Happy V-Day everyone!
