Offering

Famed (and incredible) comedien/actor/director Bob Odenkirk called me last week offering me the main guest-starring role in an upcoming HBO pilot starring David Cross (also a comedy genius).  They had actually written the role with Jack Black in mind and apparently immediately thought of me (Bob had apparently watched me on Idol and thought I was funny - in our conversation he actually told me that he loved that I had a sense of irony about the show) to play  the part of one of David's old friends.

Bob sent over the script and it was pretty darned funny...it is actually a great morality tale that is pointed and timeful.  It's gonna be great.  Unfortunately, we were supposed to film in May when I am on tour.  We tried to figure out how to make it work, but unfortunately, it just couldn't work out (and just so there was no confusion - this was not an invitation to audition, this was an actual offer for a part - there's a difference, and I know the difference).

Anyway, I thought that was a very cool honor to have been offered the part...it would have been cool to film for a few days in L.A.  I'm also really looking forward to seeing the show when it airs in the Fall.

Too Late to Apologize

Guys,  just wanted to tell you I'm sorry that I haven't kept up with this better.  This week was pretty crazy and the last 2 days I've just tried to rest up for the last 2 weeks of this radio tour.  I'm fighting off sickness brought on by bad road food and consistent lack of sleep.  I actually have a couple of blogs planned (pics included) about New York and some other things...I just have tried to stay away from the computer for a couple of days.

I probably won't get something up tonight, but hopefully tomorrow night.

Billboard, baby!

This week's Billboard magazine (comes out later this week) will give the details of my chart debut!  I come in at #29 on the Billboard Hot Christian AC chart.

From what the radio promoter is saying for only being in for 3 weeks, it's unheard of to chart so fast.  We now how close to 40 stations spinning the songs (AC monitored, AC indicator and CHR).  So, it is going incredibly well!

I have charted!

P.S.: look for an adventures blog later tonight!

Baltimore Is Beautiful

Well, I think it's beautiful...yeah, it is.

Anyway, we have added 2 shows in Baltimore on top of the radio promo stops. Check out myspace.com/chrissligh for more info.

The radio tour is going great. We were, once again, the #1 added AC song for the 3rd straight week (last week we were tied for 1st for AC monitored, this week we won both monitored and indicator straight out!). We got 10 more stations this week in AC and 2 more in CHR (the more rock flavored stations). We're up to 32 stations total spinning the song. We should debut on the Billboard & R&R chart next week in the top 30! We are only 2 and a half weeks into this and we're already going to be charting! Amazing! My team has done an incredible job!

I'm tired as crap and I miss Sarah...but she's coming to see me in Baltimore and will be at both shows over the weekend, so that gives you guys another reason to come see the show.

Anyway, thanks for all the support.

Once again....

Well, "Empty Me" is once again the #1 added song at Christian AC radio (monitored), this time on a very slow add week. So, that is exciting.

I have found that many of the radio programmers check out the blog, so...thanks guys for the add!

According to mediabase we're at #44 on the Christian AC charts, up from #105...with only 1 and a half weeks out, that's pretty good. We already have several adds coming for next week, so it is looking great!

Catch Up

At some point soon, I will catch everyone up on life. I'm so incredibly busy and I travel so much that it's kind of hard to keep you guys up to date...I need to do a better job of that. When I'm driving now I don't have wireless like I did on the buses during Idol tour, and usually when we get to the hotel at night, it's time to crash.

So, I will try to do a better job, but the next few weeks are crazy.

American Idol Extra was great yesterday. I had fun with the staff and seeing old friends. Jon and I went out with Haley, Gina and Blake after the taping. Reminiscing about good times and talking about Gina's wedding and Blake's new single and Haley's recording. Seriously, I didn't realize how much I missed everybody until we got together. It's like a family...we just pick up where we left off the last time. So great.

I performed "In a Moment" as Cathy and Nana talked about below. What kind of sucked was they told me it had to be less than three and a half minutes, so I did an arrangement without the last chorus...then everyone else's song was over 4 minutes. Oh, well, I thought the arrangement worked. The interviews were great. Let's see if I can remember...Access Hollywood, Billboard, Extra (not to be confused with Idol Extra), InTouch...and I know there's more I'm forgetting. But it was fun. Fred, the guy from Billboard magazine, hung out with Jon and I for most of the day just shooting the breeze, talking about music...the guy is like a walking encyclopedia of music charts knowledge. So, we talked our favorite bands and how they did on the charts. It was so much fun.

So, we'll play catch up every now and again. And it will be fun.
