Wouldn't Change a Thing

Well, you remember I let you guys hear a song called "Wouldn't Change a Thing" recently. Well, today we got the news that one of the biggest solo artists in Country music put it on hold! Hopefully, we'll follow up "Here Comes Goodbye" with another hit!

Exciting news!!!

Also, I recently did a session for some of my country songs and got 5 done. 1 of the rough demos is up on myspace.com/chrisslighsongwriting.

It should be the first one up...called "I'm Yours".

Chris-That is so AWESOME! I can't wait to hear who this big country star is. Guess Nashville is bringing out the "country boy" in you. :) It's so good to hear from you! I'm not getting on Twitter because than I'll went to spend all day checking for updates from you. I know the whole record deal thing must be driving you insane. Some of the things I have had to wait for the longest have been the best things in my life.

Hope everyone is doing good. We've had cool weather hear the past few days. I guess the two weeks of summer weather we got are over.

Ok, had my country lovin' husband listen to this to see who he thought would sing this song. His first guess: Blake Shelton, cause he said he could handle the higher notes in the song. And his last album was released in November of 08, so I can see him putting songs on hold now for a record that he'd be working on in 2010. His second guess is Kenny Chesney. 'Course I know you can't tell, but it's fun to see if we're right when it's put on the album and shoots to #1. (Believe it and you will achieve it...again!)

"I'm Yours"....I'm feeling Keith Urban on that one.

I'm just laughing cause I remember how you were NOT into the country genre. I'm loving how you've come over to the other side.

Off to bed...in a workshop until after 7:30 tonight...I'm whupped.

Oh my gosh!! That is awesome news. Not surprised, that song is so beautiful. Yep..it's gonna rock the country charts all right. I wish someone would hurry up and record it so I can hear it all the time. I love that song.

I also love the new song you have up on your myspace page. You definitely have that country vibe going and I love it. Keep those country hits coming..

Risa,
I am like you and I love to try to figure out who has the song on hold. My guess would either be Kenny Chesney or maybe even Alan Jackson. Thought of Brad Paisley but just can't see him doing that song. Also Tim McGraw would be a good choice as well as Trace Adkins (who is one of my personel favorite country male artists.) Not sure that the song would fit his voice though. Can't wait until who ever has put the song on hold, decides to record the song and we all find out.

Might want to consider changing the title of "I'm Yours" as there has been a recent smash by the same title. I'm Yours by Jason Mraz has to be one of the most annoying songs on radio today. "you done done me and I bet I felt it".....what?????

Hey Chris,
I was just wondering...when you write these great songs, how do you get them out there to be seen by the artists who might want to record them?
BTW each time I listen to Wouldn't Change a Thing I can't help but picture you singing it to Sarah! Love that song & I know it will be another hit for ya.

"Can Do Man" is so great! I can't stop listening to it...Maybe it's just because you're singing it and I keep picturing you running around with the "honey do" list, lol!

I really love "Love is Strong Enough" too. It is such an inspirational kind of song in these tough times. I think a whole lotta people can relate to this! It's great to hear something tell people to hang on to each other and encourage each other til things turn around (and that they WILL)

Where are we going to get a cowboy hat that will compliment your curly locks. rofl! A few years ago I bet that of all the professional titles you dreamed people might say about Chris Sligh, successful songwriter was there but not number one on the charts "country music" songwriter.

rosalee said...

I'm glad that someone put that song on hold. It deserves to be recorded by a big name.

We just picked up our new car. At the car dealership, several
salesmen asked questions about my Sligh bag. Even the receptionist recognized him, but she didn't recognize the faces of the Beatles on my t-shirt. Some generation gap! LOL

Cathy Storms said...

Rosalee~Thats funny..Awesome news for Chris that she recongnized him and not the Beatles. lol...

What kind of car did you get?

rosalee said...

An Infiniti G37X sedan. It's a really cool, powerful car with lots of electronic gadgets. Harry's in heaven. It's amazing how much cars have changed in the last 15 years. Harry gave our old Honda Accord to his son.

Cathy Storms said...

Rosalee~I bet Harry is in heaven with all the gadgets. I love those cars..
