Daylight is coming/here

Remedy Drive's new album Daylight Is Coming is out today.

Please support these guys (if you like the music, of course).   They're a great band, and Jason Walker wrote with them and has gotten to know them and really thinks they're great guys.

I'm hoping to do some shows with them at some point...I really like them.

I just listened to them on itunes. I like it alot. My favorites are Daylight, Hope & Belong w/You. That would be pretty awesome if you could do a show with them.
Will absolutely buy this CD...

I just bought the sheet music to Vessel. It never occurred to me that we could find new ways to get pieces of the Sligh. Now as I play the piano I don't sing... I just hear Chris singing in my head. I tried to sing it once last night but it set the neighbor's beagle to howling and I can take a hint.

Clintster, they are playing Saturday at Starlight "rock the light" show. I am going to the idols Friday at the Sprint Center so the wife just lassoed my wallet, unfortunately. Maybe next trip through.

They do have an offical site which I'll have to check further at home:
http://www.remedydrive.com/

There are some YouTube links listed in the Google search

risalea said...

Thanks for the info...you brought us to Jason Walker, and if they are as good as he is, they are definitely worth a listen.

Randy, I had to laugh at your "wife lassoed my wallet" comment. Apparently you need some advice from the Blogger girls, as in "it is better to beg forgiveness than to ask permission." LOL That's my mantra every time I buy another stash of Chris's CD's. And Chris, they are half gone...I'm trying to slow down a bit so I don't feel the need to restock in AL! heehee

Just watched their Daylight video on youtube and REALLY liked it. Thanks for the recommend, Chris. You always do us good! Will check their other stuff on rhapsody when I'm not so sleepy.

Badpacifist - I've been very sick and missed being on the cutting edge of all your concert reporting but I'm all caught up now and just wanted to say I'm glad you were so enriched. Thanks for sharing the videos too. I live vicariously through them.
Also, where did you get Vessel sheet music??? I'd LOVE to be able to play that!! And if it's too difficult for my intermediate level playing skills, my daughter could handle it easily and I could sing along.

H.Shekhar said...

a cool blog !

Anonymous said...

wow!

Anonymous said...

Hischild....Vessel is at musicnotes.com and you can print that or sheetmusicplus.com has all of running back to you. It is one that an intermediate could probably play right though slowly at first of course. I had so much fun playing the piano again the first night my guitar got jealous.

Heh-- the title of this blog today makes me think of the sentiment I had, at 6am today. "Daylight is coming...eventually!" :-)
I hate losing daylight, with the advancing of the seasons! So dark!

badpacifist-- That's really great, that you can play from the musicsheets that way. Whenever I see a song performed by a fan like that, I always think how awesome it is! It must be a thrill for the artist too, to see it done.

Hischild said...

Badp,
Those are my two instruments too!
Although for me, my guitar has a few cobwebs going right now.

Thanks for the info. I'll excitedly traipse on over there.

And, welcome in, h shekhar! It's always good to see new people extending warm fuzzies.

Cathy Storms said...

h shekhar~welcome. Always love to see new people on Chris's blog. As hischild says~sending warm & fuzzies your way...

risalea said...

OK, Randy and Clarissa...you need to bring your guitars to the next picnic! How fun would that be? (And Rosalee and Harry!)

rosalee said...

Randy brought a guitar. He had it out at the hotel by the pool.

Hey Bullyse -
Kevin's movie, "College" comes out in a couple of days, and he has another one lined up:

Don't forget to read Jon Skaggs' blog:

Well, I missed it or I've slept since then!LOL

DJ in AL said...

I'm with Risa, Randy brought his guitar? I saw Harry with his, but not Randy, dude, where was I?

DJ

rosalee said...

Harry was playing Randy's guitar.

Hischild said...

What? I didn't see ANYONE playing
ANYONE'S guitar!!!! Wha, Wha, Wha!!!
Bummer!

OK, next year's picnic after activities must include a talent show or something. Chris, YOU cannot perform. It's only open to amateurs like us! :o)

risalea said...

I can see it now--next year's picnic theme--"Karaoke with Chris Sligh and the Fro Patro 2009"--he can judge, but he can't be a singing participant! LOL We'll have to start thinking of some trophies for Cathy to work on.

And definitely--a dueling guitar showdown for all who are brave enough to enter. : )

Cathy Storms said...

Yeah..The "FroPatro 2009 Band". Sounds like a lot of fun. I've been dying to learn to play the violin. A long time dream...Gives me a little bit of time to learn some of the string part of "Vessel". I know, its a computer but who knows...Just don't ask me sing...lol....
I already have some ideas for the trophy for the picnic...

rosalee said...

Yeah - like a trophy for who can run the fastest away from the cacophony! Chris should win that one. LOL

Hischild said...

Rosalee,
I was thinking the same thing. Poor Chris having to listen to the likes of US? Remember, we want him to show up to his own party! I'm speaking for myself here - I'm not good enough for the most casual of public places (yet). But what a lot of fun it would be.

Cathy,
There's never been a better reason to take up the violin than that! You go, girl!

rosalee said...

When I was in college, one of my student teaching assignments was to teach violin to third graders. That turned me off to being a music ed. major forever! LOL

I never understood why they gave me that job anyway. I wanted to teach chorus in the secondary schools, but the kids were such discipline problems, it was hard to teach. I used to write choral arrangements of contemporary songs for jr. high and high school choruses. Sometimes I would accompany them on piano, as well. Of course, “contemporary” at that time was 1970’s…

Cathy Storms said...

Rosalee~You play violin? Perfect, you and Harry could plan a trip to California and you could help me. Lilah would be so excited to see Harry again, or Hawwy as she calls him...

rosalee said...

Cathy -
Actually I don't, really. That's why it's so funny. Not that you have to know much to teach third graders. My main instrument is keyboard. I used to teach piano privately, too. Secondary is a little guitar. I never touched a violin until I had to teach that class!

Anonymous said...

Risa-- LOL at the karaoke and guitar challenge! I'll have to help in the back up band, and play the spoons.;-)

rosalee-- that College movie...!!
Just the bits I've seen curl my toes! He's such a little cutie-pie. I know he does not want to be looked at like that, but there it is. Him in a sexy comedy like that is just NO. But hey, he's getting work, so what the heck you know? It's got to be fun for the boy.

Maybe Jon will give cowbell lessons!

risalea said...

Just want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday weekend! Take care, and remember if you are enjoying the great outdoors, wear that sunblock. (sorry, the MK consultant just has to come out sometimes!--doing my part to keep the Fro Patro wrinkle free- LOL)

Chris, saw the Twitter about your great crowds--hooray! I know you and the guys have a busy weekend. I hope your concert attendees are prepared to have their faces melted off! : ) Safe travels!

Cathy Storms said...

thanks Risa~back at ya.
Wow Chris..WhooHoo! Those numbers are really something. Very Cool.
Safe travels for your upcoming shows this weekend.

Just a reminder -

The Celebrate Freedom event in Atlanta, GA is supposed to be on a live webcast today:

http://www.crossrocktv.com/

Chris performs around 3:30PM.

Maybe we'll spot Carmen in the crowd. She should be wearing a very distinctive "#1 FAN" shirt!

Also try radio - 104.7 The FISH Atlanta:

I listened to The Top Twenty Countdown this morning, and "Empty Me" jumped from #11 to #6. I wasn't listening to a re-run, was I? This is for this week, right? I thought that was really exciting news!

rosalee said...

If you are talking about "20thecountdownmagazine", you are correct. Chris is in the Artist's Spotlight:

Cathy Storms said...

I just talked to Carmen who is in Atlanta and melting. Now that's a true #1 Chris fan!! She got mentioned on the radio!!WhooHoo!!The DJ said "I just met Chris Sligh's #1 fan." How cool is that. She says it's packed and really hot and humid. She said everyone is commenting her on her I'm Chris Sligh's #1 fan shirt, her purse and everything else Sligh she has with her. Go Carmen.....She said they are interviewing Chris at 2:30 Atlanta time.
Be safe Carmen and have tons of fun!!!

rosalee said...

I was hoping that Carmen would get some media attention!

Cathy - Did Carmen mention who is interviewing Chris at 2:30 PM? Is it The Fish radio?

Cathy Storms said...

I just heard Chris's interview on the Fish Radio. Cool interview. They mentioned someone was wearing a "Chris Sligh #1 Fan" shirt. Go Carmen....I think I heard her yelling in the background.
Sounds like it is a great day in Atlanta. Man, I need to move closer to the South than Southern California or win the lottery...
Thanks Carmen for the information about the interview...You rock girlfriend....

rosalee said...

Yeah - I heard the 10 minute interview, too, including that "#1 Fan" remark at the very beginning.
They said something to the effect that you mention "Chris Sligh" and a crowd of over 400 gathers....

They also asked about the meaning of "Fro Patro", and Chris explained that it was a play on words of Tayor Hicks' "Soul Patrol". The Fro Patro was also recently mentioned on that FOX Carolina TV spot on Aug 25th (his North Greenville University stop) and they mentioned the picnic (they called it a "cookout"). Chris mentioned that fans from all over the country showed up.

Carrie said...

Phew. Hi everyone! I survived my first week of classes. It was rough getting used to, I'll tell you that much. Tues and Thurs I'm on campus from 9am - 6pm! Just checking in to let everyone know I still exist! Haha.

Carmen must be having a blast, despite the heat outside. Hope everyone who is seeing/has seen Chris since I last checked in has or had a great time! Have extra fun for me!

Praying for the family and friends of the girl who died (from the twitter update.)

Carmen is famous!

It's 3:25 Eastern and I just got online and saw that Chris is supposed to be on that webcast at about 3:30. Has this happened yet?

risalea said...

I'm trying to catch Chris on the website Rosalee mentioned to see him live. Carmen said they were running pretty much on time. Carrie, good to hear from you.

Take care, friends!

risalea said...

There he is! Singing "Cry Tonight"...Yea Chris!

risalea said...

Emilyboo, thanks for pointing out the Twitter message. I had missed that. Everyone parent's nightmare...as the mom of a senior boy, my heart breaks for that family. Prayers going up for them.

Cathy Storms said...

Prayers for the family of the young girl who died on the way to the concert. Parents worst nightmare...

Got to see the webcast of the concert. Chris rocked it as usual. Did anyone catch a glimpse of Carmen?

Cathy Storms said...

Carrie~good to hear from you...

EmilyBoo said...

I was able to catch Chris' whole set on the crossrocktv.com webcast. It sure looked hot out there!

Risa, I can't imagine losing a child in that or any other way! I always have a moment of silent prayer for the families when I hear things like that.

Hey guys -

I just found this video from Mt. Juliet - July 4th. It uses "Are You Pleased" as the soundtrack. It's 3:34 long. Look who got caught on tape closing in on the 3:00 mark...

I've frozen the frame here:

The last show sounds like it had the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. :-/ The show, for 880 ppl...and Carmen getting to be there for it? Awesome.

I echo the sentiments about losing a child like that, a parent's worst nightmare. My eldest just got her driver license permit, and I think about the crazies on the road out there. All we can do is pray. Trust the Lord, but tie your camel!

Good for you Chris, having the strength to persevere despite all. The coverage Chris has gotten thru the christian radio and stuff is really wonderful. :-)

risalea said...

Man, who are those great looking women dancing along with Chris Sligh? They sure look like they were enjoying the evening! : )

Hope you guys are having a wonderful day. The sun is shining here....praying for all the folks who had to leave the Gulf Coast region. My mother's church, PVCC, is one of two places in Pulaski County offering shelter through the Red Cross for evacuees coming to the LR area. One report said that folks had an 18 hour drive to LR, one that normally takes 9, due to the number of evacuees on the road.

Chris, hope you get a chance for a little R and R before your next gig. Take care of yourself and fill us in on these great shows you've been having!

rosalee said...

There are new Delgrosso's (Tipton PA) photos and video up in the Fro Patro Message Board threads on Chrissligh.com. On the last photo, note the new T-shirts hanging in the background....

risalea said...

Carmen, Cathy, and I have that shirt. (Well, it may be DJ that has that shirt...they didn't have the size I normally get so I had to get one size smaller, and I haven't tried it on yet, so it may be hers before it's over. LOL) It says "Chris Sligh" on the back. It's cute!

Cathy Storms said...

Rosalee~Do you know if they are going to be selling those shirts on his website?

DJ in AL said...

Risa,

I'll take it, I'll take it! Course it might not fit me either!

Carrie, how was the Maroon 5 concert???? I'm going at the end of this month.

Hey you-all,
I finally got the nerve up to try something new, and while MS was not so cooperative as yet? I uploaded a video on my blogpage! hah! (You can upload them just like a picture, who knew?)

So what is a minute and a half took forever, but it is there to view and enjoy! I'll work on a couple other sideways-ones too.

Rosalee, I'll let you know if I ever can get them uploaded at MS.:-)

Cathy Storms said...

Chris~that does suck..I hope you get home in the next few days.

I have to tell you a funny story. We had a barbeque yesterday and Carol (the lady you met in Lk Arrowhead) and Jan (the lady who was in Nashville) were both here and they started doing a one ups on who got to see more of you. Carol was saying, "I got to have dinner with him and sit right next to him", Jan, "Well, I had my picture taken with him". Hubby and I were laughing so hard. Of course some loud mouth says "So, Cathy, why isn't Chris here"? Hubby told him in no uncertain terms to not ever make fun of me being a fan. That you were the nicest kid he had met in a really long time and that he should listen to your CD because your voice is amazing...It was a great day...

rosalee said...

Cathy -
I don't know what additional t-shirt designs they have in mind for the Chrissligh.com store.

BTW, I'm not going to Ledyard CT on the 6th. There's another show on the night of Sept.7th in Hamden CT at The Space. It's an hour closer to home, so Harry wants to go there instead.

Chris -
If you can, take Sarah with you up to Connecticut.

Isn't Arise supposed to drop to radio today?

rosalee said...

Bullyse -
Nice Video. I hope you can figure out how to get them up on Myspace. If not, try photobucket.com.

rosalee, Thanks! this video project gives me the fits! I want to be able to share it with you guys, but as yet, I have not been overly successful.IDK.
I'll do what I can.

(I did used to have a photobucket, but I gave it up. It just felt funny to have one.)

At least you got to see the best vid, right??;-)

This may be of interest to some of you - "Empty Me" karaoke from Daywind Soundtracks:

You can hear samples of the product by searching on "chris sligh", then click on "Empty Me", then click on the Song List mp3 samples on the right.
