In the Weak

Check out myspace.com/chrisslighproductions - new song up called "In the Weak". I am really excited about this song. I wrote it with Meredith Andrews and it's going to be a perfect segue for me to talk about Compassion International in shows...plus I think the song ended up just really cool.

It's the first song when you navigate to the page...

Spot on lyrics, beautiful melody, powerful message. The embodiment of this Bible passage:

Matthew 25:35-40, NIV
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?

39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

In The Weak. Wow! Listened a couple times late last night and was blown away. Originally thought Compassion (Change The World) was perfect for CI purposes, but this one is better. It is convicting, convincing and it will be a catalyst for great things on this earth. Way to go, Chris and Meredith.

Risa, you were spot on! :o)

Absolutely beautiful! This song would remind anyone that the less fortunate are not invisible, but the most loved and deserving of God's children.

Hey guys,

I'd love to get ya'lls opinions on something.

In listening to this song...do you think the lyric comes across as judgmental or "preachy"? Feel free to be honest...it won't hurt my feelings...I want this song to have the maximum effectiveness, and if it feels judgmental or preachy I doubt it will reach that...

Chris

Nice Song.

Clarissa -
Compassion/Change the World is a Rough Draft song that was produced by Chris, but co-written by Andrew Wittenauer, Chad Cates and Tony Wood.

I just read that Billy Joel and his wife have split. I wonder who will get custody of Chris's CD that I gave them? LOL

rosalee said...

Oh - just saw your post -
Not too preachy, but it's a little hard for us old folks to hear all of the words over the background music. It gets a little muddy.

risalea said...

I hope I didn't make you second-guess yourself by quoting that scripture. Your song is saying to me that we need to get out of our box-the building that we call the church (and why do we do that, the church is made of people, not bricks and mortar)...we are the hands and feet of Jesus on earth. I don't find that preachy or judgmental, IMHO. And I don't think someone who is not of the church who hears this song would think it was preachy, either. It promotes doing for others who can't do for themselves, and that's what we all should be about.

Cathy Storms said...

I love this song. I don't think it's judgmental or preachy at all. The message is very moving. It brought tears to my eyes.

DJ in AL said...

Not preachy, truthful!

DJ in AL said...

Rosalee,

I'm sure there will be a bitter custody fight over Chris' CD!

Hischild said...

Rosalee,
Thanks for the info. It's probably on their CD? Haven't listened to it enough to get very familiar with, (obviously). I'd listen if I could FIND it. Grr!

Chris,
Honestly, I think there always will be some who judge *any* message they'd rather not consider to be judgemental. Ha! Reactions will be reflection of the individual heart of the hearer which is beyond your control.

I think you have been responsible w/the delivery of a very important message. Sleep well, my friend.

risalea said...

Clearsa--you lost the Rough Draft CD?
Oh no, you di'nt! lol

Just saw where Carly Smithson is going to team with former Evanescence band members (including LR native Ben Moody, who IMHO, is not half as cute as his heart throb good lookin' dad was, Ben Moody Sr., back in the day--his dad was a grade behind me at LR Hall-I told you there were only 2 degrees of separation from celebrity in AR! LOL) And on that extremely silly note, I'm going to bed!

Just so ya'll know, it's gonna be 98 tomorrow! Need to have my head examined for having a yardsale in the worst heat wave we've had in years! It's not even officially Summer yet! ARGH, I hate Summer!
Moving to Alaska!

On the plus side friend that's having yardsale has a beautiful pool to cool off in after!

Happy Weekend Ya'll from a heat exhausted DJ in AL!

Hischild said...

Hey, Risa.
I thought ASU was gonna have a chance to play ASU for CWS title. But we BOTH lost. Our loss was of the dramatic kind though. Bummer either way.

Partial victory today. I found the Rough Draft CD case. What a letdown to find it empty! Now WHERE could the goods be??

DJ,
Don't you have a shady, verdant veranda where you can sip on mint juleps when the heat becomes too ,much for a girl? Or can you tell I've never spent any time in the South? - apart from my two brief Nashville trips. :o) Stay cool, friend and pamper yourself all day Sunday.

DJ in AL said...

Clearsa,

You've been reading too much "Gone With The Wind"!

Yard sale is becoming a distant nightmare, the pool was Fabulous!

'Bout to grill some cheeseburgers, all is well with my world!

Clearsa...critical point about Arkansas teams.

ASU=Arkansas State University, based in Jonesboro (FYI, where Amanda was from)-my alma mater, also my current employer, who because of political correctness, in the last year changed its team name from the Indians to the Red Wolves. And I still haven't recovered from the shock.

UA=University of Arkansas-This is the home of the Razorbacks,in Fayetteville, the NW part of the state, the university that the whole state rallies behind and the team to which you are referring.

Either way, sad day, but I will root for LSU day and night to beat TEXAS!

I actually do have a "veranda" off my bedrooms upstairs and a huge shady patio, both equipped with ceiling fans, but it is WAY TOO HOT to sit outside! Are y'all getting heatwaves elsewhere around the country? It seriously feels like August in June here.

Chris, how's the weather in Michigan this weekend? What kind of tweet responses did you get on your song? I really, really, think it's going to be well received.

victoria said...

Not preachy or judgmental -- I would call it exhortational. A good thing.

Risa,
Thanks for schooling me on AR schools. LOL I obviously didn't pay any attention to the other teams in the CWS or I would've known they weren't Ark STATE. However I did think they were the Razorbacks. Glad to be set straight.

Hope you and everyone else is having a great Father's Day. I sent my husband and his brother to a play. (3 Redneck Tenors @ 3rednecktenors.com - great voices and hilarious too!!!) They didn't appreciate as much as I did last week. Oh well.

risalea said...

3 Redneck Tenors...LOL....now I think Gaylon would like that!

Hope all the dads out there had a wonderful day. We took Gaylon out to eat, then I left all the guys at home and went with Linds to look at houses which was exhausting. Got my second wind at church....seriously, I think my fave song is "There's a Stirring"...I just love it and my daughter's response was "I could tell." You don't think she was being critical of my enthusiastic vocals do you? LOL

Have a great week, folks!

Happy Monday Fro Patro!

I am getting so excited for next week and the picnic, it will be very hard to stay focused this week at work!

Can't wait to see my fav. Ex-Idol and his awesome fam, my Blogger Girls, my Yankee friends, and all my fellow Fro Patroers!

Love me some Nashville!

Hope everyone has a fabuolous week!

Getting tweets that Michael Jackson has passed away after a cardiac arrest. Wow, can't believe that.

DJ in AL said...

Simply unbelievable.

Anonymous said...

I finally updated my music player so I could listen to the song. I don't think it's too "preachy" at all. You write beautiful lyrics and this song is another product of that. I really like it.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Jackson family. I've grown up around his music my whole life and although he hasn't looked too great lately, I wasn't expecting this.

DJ in AL said...

I hope he will be remembered for the enormous contributions he made to the music industry rather than the scandals that made him famous later in life.

Cathy Storms said...

It's very sad that Michael Jackson passed away today.
It's also very sad that Farrah Fawcett lost her fight with cancer today. A very sad day today...
My thoughts and prayers are with both of their families.

At the very least I get a free clutch bag for this. Now I need to find a new photo for it!

risalea said...

Very nice, Rosalee! If Carmen reads this, you know she'll be entering her Sligh creation next! LOL

I don't know if anyone else has felt this way, but I've just been in a funk today. I found myself listening to Michael Jackson tributes on the radio and oldie stations all day.

I just feel for him, you know? It makes you wonder what kind of weight was on his shoulders as a child, as the "front man" for the Jackson 5, and if the stories of the treatment by his dad are true. Obviously something made him dislike himself so much that he tried to make himself into something else. Such talent, gone too soon, and Ed and Farrah as well. I don't know if you younger guys feel this way, but all were icons for those of us in our mid 40's-50's. Sad day, indeed.

DJ in AL said...

Rosalee-how cool!
Good luck!

Cathy Storms said...

Yes Risa I agree with you. I was in a funk all day today also. We listened to Michael Jackson music all day at work and when we went out to dinner they also were playing all Michael Jackson. It is very sad.

I totally agree, I have felt a sadness I didn't expect to feel for him. I realized or remembered may be a better word, how very much I loved his music and how much a part of my youth it was!

Look the man had as many issues as he had number one records, no question. Some more scarier than others, hard to hear and crazier still to understand.

Regardless, he was a legend, a trailblazer, a one of a kind, once in a lifetime talent. He was an egocentric, unstoppable force. Obviously never satisfied with mediocrity, a perfectionist who realized the pinnacle of success at a very young age and who maintained a level of success through out most of his life most people only dream of.

However it's my belief that this kind of stardom comes with an enormous price because I believe he was also quite possibly the loneliest, saddest, most utterly lost human being on the planet. The demons that must have chased this man I can only imagine.

Personally I hope he has found in death the peace he was apparently never able to find when he was alive.

Sending you love from a deep in thought DJ in AL!

OK, some levity for Saturday....so Linds and Magnus are headed for Sweden next Thursday so Lindsay can meet his family. (can you believe choosing a European vacation over the Fro picnic? Unbelievable! LOL) She has only met his brother, Stefan, when he was here last summer. She made chicken spaghetti (with of course, our fave ingredient, Rotel) while he was visiting.

So he calls and asks her, "what is that spicy pasta you made? It was so good. You need to make it when you come."

So in the suitcase is going a block of Velveeta and a case of Rotel (some for the dish and the rest as a gift for the Kullenbergs) And I've already warned her, Carmen, to make sure it's in the checked luggage, not the carry-on. : )

Rotel is going international!

Send some love Chris's way...according to his tweet yesterday he had a LOOOOONG flight to UT.

Hischild said...

Risa,
Promoter of all things good, Rotel, Chris, St. Judes... I'm SO glad I met you and all our other blogger girls AND boys. Warms my heart to know there's a picnic coming for you all soon.

Chris,
Got your tweet about performing in Provo w/JPL!! You really caused a wave of disappointment. I loved JPL on AI (Little Less Conversation was SO fun!)and to see both of you together...well...would've just been outta this world!! Sorry about your non-stop being so deceitful. Grr!
Any plans to perform w/Jason Castro??? Cause I'd cross hill and dale and AZ and UT for that!

Hischild said...

Hey DJ,sweltering in Atlanta somewhere, I spent yesterday in same sort of reflexiveness on MJ.

Browsed YouTube and the many musical nuggets he left us. I was TOTALLY in love with him when I was first old enough to have those feelings. Had an album of his when he had a giant afro and cannot find ANY evidence now of it even existing but found some of the songs on it on YouTube. I could still sing right along with them after 35 years! Now THAT is what I would call soul music.

I will choose to remember him as a child performing w/his brothers and a teenager singing sweet ballads instead of the tortured soul he became. I always felt so sorry for him and what his life consisted of.

He and Elvis were the poorest rich men, the most successful failures I can think of. Shining examples of the old Beatles line: Money can't buy you love.
I am thankful for the memories.

DJ in AL said...

Clearsa-your point about he and Elvis living somewhat parallel lives-very true and very sad.
The Beatles definitely knew what they were singing about-money will not buy you love (well the kind you really need anyway!)

Survived the sweltering heat in ATL but is was tortuous! Spent more time out of my seat searching for shade, a breeze, AC and icecream than I did watching the game. Anybody know the score? LOL!

Oh well....made some fun new memories with the guys today, not all bad.....Hot fun in the Summertime!

P.S. Clearsa-will miss you so much at the picnic this year!!!

And I think the Braves outta get a retractable roof like the Diamondbacks - making all those fans suffer like that just ain't right. Baseball in AC is grand! Glad you survived and made good memories.

risalea said...

Hi everybody--
Saw all the happy chatter, and thought I'd stick my head in and say "Hey!"

Risa asked how the weather was in Michigan. I can tell you, because I have kin there. It's finally SPRINGTIME there! Isn't that amazing? For those of us who have had the thunderstorms and trees and flowers and heat, that's a wild concept, but it's true! The icy Great Lakes are their overlord I suppose.

Hope you all have a fun time at the Picnic, upcoming.:-)

We just had the worst hail storm I think I've ever witnessed. The Lord saved me from myself, cause I almost bought a new vehicle this week. Old Bessie saved the day! I haven't had the heart to see if she survived without too many pings.

Finishing laundry, packing, heading out in the morning. I'm sure I'll forget something, but hopefully, it won't be something dire.

NashVegas or bust!

p.s. Appreciate prayers for a safe trip for all heading that way, plus an extra one for my Linds and Magnus who are heading to Sweden on Thursday.

Hi everybody from the picnic! The kids and I enjoyed meeting you and hanging out! Thank you, Chris, for having us! We made it to Mom's home in Illinois at 6:30pm after waiting 45 minutes for the Cave-in-Rock, IL ferry to carry us across the river! (there are other routes, but we enjoy taking the ferry.)

Someone requested my daughter's recipe for root beer float cookies last night, so I posted it on my blog here. (I don't like root beer, but I love these cookies!)

robyn said...

Hey Brenda!

Glad you made it to your mom's ok.

It was so great to meet you and your kids! I hope we can see each other again next year!

risalea said...

The cookies were wonderful, thanks for the recipe, Brenda. So great to meet new folks and hope more will come next year.

Short version of today (and you guys know that this is only the Readers' Digest condensed version of a much longer one to come):

Great picnic, gracious hosts, old friends, new friends, slammin' music at Wildhorse, topped off by not one chance, but two to do the only dance I know (electric slide), and oh yea, watching friend Deb go crazy over "Sweet Home Alabama." LOL Indeed, life is good. More later!

Hischild said...

More later?? That is good because I crave it!

HA! Dreamed last night that Chris came to Phx for a show. Were you guys on my mind or what??

ChrisSligh said...

Hey everyone,

I had such a great time yesterday! Thanks so much for being a part of the picnic! I guess it wasn't technically a picnic, but let's just call it that...or maybe "2nd Annual Fro Patro Celebratory Meal involving BBQ & fellowship"...that might work.

Anyway, I hope you guys understand how much I loved it...I apologize again for having to break away for the conference call, but believe me, if there were another time to do it, I promise you we would've done...it just had to be then!

I love you all...thanks for all your love and support!

Chris

risalea said...

OK, so it's too late, and I need to be packing, but oh, well, priorities, and all that.

So this was our 2nd annual fro patro picnic, and we had a wonderful last minute change of venue and went from the park to Chris and Sarah's home. What gracious hosts they are!

We had old friends attending (more than one who drove all night to get there!), some new ones as well, and we got to hang with band members Clint and Tommy and their families and our favorite manager, Mitch and his kiddos. And I'll have to say Clint has the cutest baby girl EVER and I probably have more pics of her than Chris. LOL

We had a more intimate sized group this year, but still raised over $1000 for St. Jude in memory of Amanda. That was more than we expected and we were thrilled to be able to do that and honor her memory.

Thanks first of all to Chris and Sarah. We love you both. Thanks for putting up with the "aunties." Hugs also to a special new friend we love very much who came a very long way and made the picnic part of her summer travel plans. I think all the blogger girls want to give a big shout-out to Amy (Amy's Purple Poodles) who added so much enjoyment to our weekend. Rosalee and Harry, it couldn't be a picnic without you. (would Harry be mad if we made him an honorary blogger girl? LOL we love you!)

And finally, the girls who put this shindig together, well, you are the bomb. And I love you. (DO NOT start crying Deb!)

We all hope more of you will plan on coming next summer. I know y'all know we have a very unique thing going here, where we have been able to utilize what is good about the internet, and meet new friends that have become like family. It's not a coincidence that this happened....I truly believe it's a God thing and that Chris was the vessel that He used to allow this to happen. Ok, nuff preaching for today. : )

Night, friends!

Cathy Storms said...

The picnic was such a blessing.
Thank you so much to Chris and Sarah for hosting such a wonderful day.
Clint, Tommy and Mitch, it was wonderful seeing you again and meeting your families. Clint, your daughter is beautiful.
Amy's Purple Poodle, it was such a pleasure to get to know you and to be able to hang out with you and your family. You guys are awesome.

The blogger girls...I love you all so much and will miss you very much. We really need to get together more often. You guys have become more like sisters that just friends.

Chris and Sarah, again thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality and your house is beautiful. You truly made me feel like family and I can't thank you enough. I love you both...

DJ in AL said...

.......2 years ago I was living a fairly normal, happy life as a mother of a well adjusted teenager married to the love of my life, and working in Corp. America. I was enjoying decently fun hobbies and my circle of awesome friends.

Then one day I went to the web to find out what was going on with my fav ex-American Idol. .......what happened next is described by myself, family and friends is my fall down into the "rabbit hole", a rabbit hole inhabited by all things Sligh!

The result of that fall? One GINORMOUS adventure that shows no signs of ending any time soon! I have made new friends and soul sisters, and life long important relationships. I have found my love for music again and traveled around the US meeting fans and friends of the family Sligh!

What can I say? I wouldn't change a thing! As my sista said, it's clear to me that this whole thing is no accident!

Chris and Sarah, let me add my sincere thanks for welcoming us into your beautiful home for the day (and I do mean the day!). You both continue to be generous with your hearts and your time with a motley crew of big hearted fans and friends and we love you dearly for it! We love you dearly, period.

The food and fellowship was wonderful! Picnics are overrated but AC rocks! To the new faces, so glad you came, to those who couldn't make it, you were missed!

A few personal shout outs:

Andrew dude, just listen to your able mentor and soon you will have a legion of fans of your own! What a cutie!

Harry, I must confess I have a small crush on you! (Sorry Rosalee, I promise not to act on it, LOL).

To our "special" new friend from far, far away (too darn far), you have been nominated as an honorary sister of the Blogger Girls, I hope you will accept!

To my cool new friend Amy, you have touched my heart! We will not go another year before seeing each other again-who knows, we may be visiting a Saloon in Colorado Springs one day, LOL! Keep your chin up girl and remember you now have friends from all over the U.S.!

To my Blogger Girls, there are none like you, never have been, never will be! I love each and every one of you for reasons too numerous to list here. (P.S. I stopped boo-hooing 15 min. out of Brentwood)

That's it, another Fro Patro celebration in the books, and another epic blog post from your fav drama queen!

Sending you love from a melancholy DJ, er, I mean DQ in AL!

P.S. Chris keep working on our "kitten" package and I'll make the 182 miles or 3 HOURS to Nashville!

risalea said...

Now wait a minute, Deb....give Chris a chance to reconsider my generous offer to trade Bubba for the kittens. I might even sweeten the deal a bit after coming home and finding out he had drug his expensive new crate mat out and shredded it all over the yard, and dug 2 more holes. Life at the Ratliffs! (is it too early to plan the next road trip???)

Cathy Storms said...

What can I say that hasn't already been said about our weekend in Nashville. It was so special.
Andrew, you are to cute for words. I'm so glad I got to meet you.
Amy, I didn't get to tell you and your parents goodbye but please know how special you are to me and I will miss you.

Chris and Sarah, you guys really made it special. Your home is beautiful and you made all of us feel so welcome. I love you both. And if we can figure out a way to get a kitten to California, hubby says we can have one.

Our new friend or should I say our new blogger sister from so far away, you have really stolen my heart and I love you so much. It was really wonderful getting to know you. I gave Deliah your hug and she giggled and was thrilled.

Rosalee and Harry, thank you so much for getting me to and from the airport. You both are very special.

And to my blogger sisters, I already miss you so much. I can't wait for the next time we are all together again.

Well GDA, you missed another fun time at the picnic. On the first day, Harry and I spent some time at the Nashville Zoo before picking up Cathy at the airport. That first night we all went to the Loveless Café for some good southern food.

The second day, the girls (and Chris M.) spent some time food shopping for the picnic and mixer. Then Harry and I went to a botanical garden and spent time relaxing by the pool. At night we had the mixer, where we made a new, special friend who’s a Scorpio, just like me. It was also nice talking with Brenda, Robyn and Amy. Risa – thanks for the lotion, and Carmen – thanks for the chocolate – it was very good. DJ – take my husband – please (just kidding). Cathy – it was great seeing you again. The trophies were very well done.

The third day was picnic day at Chris’s house, in which one could easily entertain a few dozen people. The house was beautiful. I especially liked the birdfeeders on the deck in the backyard and his studio upstairs. Tucker, the Jack Russell terrier and LG, the dachshund were in attendance, as was his cat and newborn kittens. It was nice seeing Tommy (Chris’s bass player), Clint (Chris’s guitar player), wife and 2 month old baby, Andrew (Rough Draft), and Mitch (Chris’s manager). Carrie drove through the night to make the picnic. Famous Dave’s BBQ was great as usual, as were the variety of store-bought and homemade desserts. The “picnic” seemed more like a friend/family gathering than a fan event. At one point, Chris played “Empty Me” on guitar for us.

On the fourth day, we went to a large mall and then to downtown Nashville for some Mexican food. The weather was sunny and in the eighties the whole time, except for the last night, when it poured. GDA, you would not have liked the plane rides. Incoming, the pilot had to abort his landing and circle Nashville until a plane on the ground had cleared the runway. Going home, it felt very choppy. However, all in all, it was a great trip!

The dispatches, appraisals, and afterglow of those present indicate that a lovely time was had by all. Splendid!

Roselee is keeping the memory of Henny Youngman evergreen by replying to DJ/DQ with his most famous one liner. Sounds like the return trip had white knuckle moment potential.

Next year, GDA, next year!

Update on money collected...there was another donation on paypal, so total donation to St. Jude in memory of Amanda was.....(drumroll, please!)......
$1049.06!

Go, Fro Patro! You stepped up to the plate in spite of difficult economic times. Congrats to Cathy for being responsible for the most donations...she was back at work for just a couple of weeks and collected over $300!

I sent Tammy a message and she was thrilled over the money collected. She is so appreciative of us supporting St. Jude and keeping Amanda's memory alive by honoring her in this way.

Crap, now I'm gonna' start crying (again!) Love y'all!

I'm glad I made it even if I couldn't stay very long. I passed out forever once I made it back to the hotel. It took us about an hour to get back, too. It was great to see everyone again. I apologize if I seemed a little "off" we were sooo tired. My sister slept about 2 hours before the picnic after driving. I was going to nap but didn't bother haha.

Chris and Sarah, thank you so much for letting us into your home. When I saw those kittens I went crazy because I'm a cat person haha. My cat used to be that tiny. It made me miss her!

Can't wait to see all of the pictures from the picnic/party. I didn't take as many as I did last time.

It was in the 90s today -- so hot outside! We're driving back Thursday morning so I get to lay out at the pool tomorrow! I remembered my swim suit this time!

Carrie, love forgot to give you a shout out! So glad you showed up! And such effort made to do so!

And you were so sweet it was definitely NOT on!

GDA-dude are you a real live person?
Just kidding? Sometimes I wonder. One of these days you should show up, I actually heard your name mentioned!

Rosalee, alas I have a sweet husband of my own, but I'll keep Harry in reserve! Harry would never want me, I couldn't keep up with him on anything cerebral!

Way to go Fro Patro for getting the donations up, as Risa says in this sagging economy! Just goes to show what "good people" Sligh fans are!

Ok, back to packing for Savannah!

Sending you love from your Drama Queen from AL!

OK, this is totally off the subject (but I'm the queen of that! LOL). I mentioned the hail storm we had before I left town. Adjustor came this morning, we have wind and hail damage all over the roof--new roof coming, for the cost of a $250 deductible. Woo Hoo! We've got one of those steep, many gabled things that costs a fortune to replace. Life is good. : ) Back to the scheduled programming.

DJ in AL said...

Yea Risa! I'm so glad for you, geez you must be livin right or something!

rosalee said...

That must have been some storm. How old was the roof?

HstryQT said...

Thank you for your sweet thoughts Clearsa and Cathy. I hope it's not too long before I get to see you all again!

Paris just brought on the sobs. That was intense.

risalea said...

The roof was replaced probably 15 years ago by the owner we bought from, but he didn't do the best job as he did it himself, (Gaylon has had to get on a way too tall ladder more than once to replace sliding shingles on the steep front) so to get it replaced is a blessing. It was a huge storm, golf ball sized hail that was coming down so hard and fast we had a difficult time getting the garage door to shut because the hail was setting off the safety sensor.

Oh, Lori, you are so right, I boo-hooed through the whole thing, but seeing his daughter, that was hard. I cried for his lost childhood--it seemed he spent his life trying to regain it. I hope the media will leave his children alone and maybe they can have a bit of a normal childhood that has been denied to them, as well.

We missed everyone that couldn't make it this time...you, Clearsa, Randy, our family members who couldn't make it....hopefully we can all see each other the next time, if not before.

Risa~WhooHoo on the roof.
GDA~Next year, you have to come

Very sad day. Only got to watch the memorial in bits and pieces. Will watch it when I get home. Paris made me cry. It seems like it was a very nice service. I'm still really sad. Kelly Clarkson wore a Michael Jackson t-shirt last night for the first part of her show. It was very touching..

If my sister took many videos, we might have gotten the whole song, but since I didn't get any of it, I'll be quiet. Enjoy!

at the picnic...yay!

risalea said...

Yes, we've used the banner last year at the picnic and this year for the meet and greet. I do hope you come to next year's soiree!

In Savannah, this place is so freaking cool! I've been told to stay off the internet the rest of the trip but son is in the shower, LOL!

So with regret you must all do without me for a couple of days but no fear I'll be back!

Sending you love from a vacationing DJ in Savannah!

risalea said...

Since when do you do everything you're told????? ; )

Have a blast!

Heads up--Rascal Flatts on the Today Show, Friday, July 10th (supposed to be on the 8:30 central half hour)...I would think they'll be singing HCG.

HstryQT said...

Yes Sandy I had it from when you mailed the banner to me. i brought it to the picnic last year and Risa's used it at both picnic's. It's a staple! We thought it'd be the best place for it. Glad you noticed!

Risa,
I'm trying to save, girl, but it's getting so dang hard. My son's catalytic converter was cut off his truck IN OUR DRIVEWAY the other night! Will be more than $1500 to fix! Mean people suck!!

But I'm vacationing like DJ right now so I'm operating in "fun mode" for the time being. Let me tell you all that it was bliss to trade in 115 degrees for 79! I may have made a mistake not bringing one single jacket or sweater. Tomorrow, an Atlantic beach!

I hear ya' sista'. We've had several unexpected expenses this summer. I envy your trip...New England is always one of those places I promised myself I'd go visit in the fall when I quit teaching, now here I am with another job tied to the school year. One of these days!

Ok, off to watch Today and see RF and hear our fave song, hopefully.

risalea said...

Oh, so wrong!!! There were doing our local news and cut back to Today as RF was singing the last line of HCG! I'm mad. Off to work out my frustration! : )

cYea! I finally figured out all this mess about trying to figure out where all the picnic posts were and fixed my password.

Chris and Sarah-Thank you so much for inviting us to your beautiful home! It was an awesome time. The BBQ was wonderful and so was the ice cream. Getting to hear Chris play and sing "Empty Me" was like gold-I wish my parents had been there to hear it. I was in awe.
It was cool to meet everyone else-some of your band members, friends and your mother.

To the blogger girls-Words cannot express how wonderful a time I had with all of you. Meeting you has been one of the best things to happen to me. My life will always be richer for the time I got to spend with you in Nashvegas! I look forward to the next time we get to see each other and hope it will be before next summer. After Risa left on Sun. it rained all day so we really couldn't go anywhere. My mom said on Sunday night I talked and yelled in my sleep-she said I was mad. After everyone left it was very quiet and I was really sad. We went to an Elvis impersonator show Mon. night that was pretty good. Tues. was a long day-waiting to go to the airport, watching parts of Micheal Jackson's memorial. I was dead tired when we got home at eight that night.

To those who weren't able to make it to the picnic-I hope I get to meet you next year, we all missed you.

I love and miss everyone already!
P.S.-Chris-Thanks for letting me feel your curls (touch the fro). You have such fun hair!

Amy
