Go, Chris...it's your birthday! (well, actually, it's my birthday, on Friday...I understand Jon S. and I share the day. He'll be 31 and I'll be...not 31. LOL)

Number 7 is great! Congratulations, friend!

Oh, and guess what I'm giving out at Bunco on Thurs. night? Everyone is going home with a prize! Spreading the love, one listener at a time. (well, 11 in this case). : )

And I would have guessed it was a can of Rotel...(LOL)

WhooHoo!!!I'm so excited for you. That is awesome news. I think it's because they finally started playing your song here in California and everyone LOVES it.
Maybe a tour here in California might work out after all...

Well, more Congrats, Chris! :) I hope it keeps going.....you just never know....at any rate, it's a wonderful accomplishment straight out of the gate.

Fixed Black Bean Salsa and Quesadillas tonight and needed some Rotel....am proud to say I didn't even think about touching the Sligh...I sent hubby to the store to buy "plain label" instead...lol.....Thanks Rosalee for not knowing what Rotel is and what it can do.

Chris......Safe travels and have fun.

Heehee, Deb, I had to rescue 3 leftover cans that Gaylon had put in the pantry after we got back from the picnic. He tried to use a couple in a dish he was making.

No, Rosalee, I thought about Rotel, but since it's a readily available commodity around here, I don't think the girls would have fully appreciated the gift. lol However, I think the CD's will make an impression.

Oh, I am having fun, looking at the blog on my new 22 inch monitor! I love new computers! (except the setting them up and moving stuff over part!)

Seven is a good number

rosalee said...

This could have been a number one hit if KLOVE had gotten on board sooner.... Maybe there's still a small chance...

Deb in TN -
The Rotel never disagreed with me. I just said it was very peppery. Too hot for my taste.
The Rotel-Rooter remark I once made was a just a joke.

DJ in AL said...

Lucky 7! Great number, we'll take it!

Jason, .....good point!

Rosalee, Rotel in the South is very old news. In fact after the holidays around here you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who hadn't eaten it in some form or another at least 6 times!

Risa, my sista, happy early Birthday wishes!

Chris,
A big whoop coming from tree hugging Oregon!! You go!! Got to tell you that I caught Phil at a concert/ festival here in Oregon and he was great. He did a song he wrote called "Old Glory" and I was totally blown away. Wish he had put it on his CD cause it was my favorite. I bought if off of itunes. BTW- I had my very cool Chris Sligh purse with me and my picnic shirt on and a ton of folks at the festival asked me about it and you. Loved telling them about your song being in the top ten and then telling them to go get the CD.

Congratulations Chris!!! Now please add Jacksonville to your tour. Or some place close. I have used up all my vacation for the year, so long traveling trips are out. I can't let Candy out do me in number of concerts, now can I? LOL

K-Love certainly playing the song quite a bit now!!

Saw the split trax of Empty Me at my local Lemstone a couple weeks ago. Not sure my voice is up to it or I would have snagged it... still might!

(Hey you were gonna come up with a guitar chord chart for us?)

Deb in TN said...

Risa, you may have to move those Sligh cans to your bedroom closet or lock 'em up in the safety deposit drawer if Gaylon keeps that up....lol

Rosalee, I never knew you said that about Rotel...I had only heard at the picnic that you didn't know what Rotel was so you were the inspiration for the Sligh cans....Wonder if Badpacifist liked your Rotel Rooter joke...Too funny! LOL

Saw Chris' twitter that he went to bed early last night....don't ya just love Camp? Chris, I hope the food is good and the bed's not too lumpy....Have fun!

DJ in AL said...

GDA,

I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it an "elixir" but we do have a tendency to throw the stuff around down here!

Personally, once a year is plenty for me!

risalea said...

latest twitter--

You are so bad! (but so right!)LOL

How many times have your heard Hannah Montana, aka Miley Cyrus renditions in the last 48 hours? : )

Cathy Storms said...

Regarding latest twitter~too funny. Although I guess it's not that funny if you are going through it. lol....
I'm sure there are tons of Kelly and Hannah Montana wanna be's also. Are they getting these kids ready for future idol shows?

Nique's Nana said...

Number 7 - that's great Chris.

risalea said...

Oh, my gosh, I almost forgot (too busy getting ready for Bunco!)

Chris Sligh is our absolute friend,
We'll be with him through thick or thin,
He made it to seven,
And we're all in heaven,
Not ready to see this song end!

ChrisSligh said...

Btw, Cathy,

I will be playing Wednesday night, after all.

Chris

DJ in AL said...

Risa,

Ok, now you're just showing off!
Control yourself.

Carrie said...

Haha. Something tells me Idol Camp cares more about their $3k admission fee than if the kids can actually sing or not.

DJ, creativity cannot be restrained. (ROFLOL)

Cathy Storms said...

Chris~I will be there. Hubby said he will bring me. WhooHoo!! We will bring some of the muscle cars and make it a party...I am so excited.
I will see you tomorrow!!! WhooHoo!!

Cathy Storms said...

Chris~I sent you another message on your myspace regarding the show tomorrow. ..I can't wait till tomorrow...

Number 7 - Woo hoo!!

Yay Cathy Im glad you get to go to the show tomorrow!

:)

Jason said...

Chris what is the radio eta for arise now that you are thinking empty me is going to be backing down the charts...

Hopefully all the stations that have played E.M. and had great results will jump on Arise a little closer to the same time...

gdahimself said...

The Rhyming Risa is on the loose and unrestrained, should we be afraid?

Cathy Storms, now appearing with Mustangs, Barracudas, Challengers, Firebirds
and Camaros, are they street legal or super stock race cars? Any funny cars among the lot?
They’re not the type of car one usually uses for tailgating.

uChris-You go, you go! My favorite # is 7. It's so cool you've made it this far.
Happy Birthday Risa-the woman of rhymes and Rotel! By the way, what is Rotel? If it's salsa, then get a rope (remember the Pace Salsa commercial) That stuff's probably made in New York city!
I envious about hearing about everyone getting to see Chris in concert. Hope I get to go one day!

I like the banner Chris put on his blog about this being a community. It does seem really cool! I still feel funny because I didn't get to go to the picnic or knew Amanda. I'm sorry no one liked my poem-O.K., so it's not a slimerick or haiku. I forgot all those crazy rules from English class. Anyway, I felt kinda hurt-I was just trying to have fun like everyone else. Everyone probably thinks I'm a dork! Don't mean to complain-just wanted to let people know how I felt.
Chris-let us know what Idol camp was like. Happy B-day to Jon S.-is that Chris' brother?

HstryQT said...

amyspurplepoodle - i missed your poem, where is it? being a busy new mommy i skim alot but i dont want you to feel left out! youre definitely a part here,as is everyone, and any chris-related creativity is appreciated :). and it doesnt matter about picnic attendance or anything else, either. all is well :)

jon s is jon skaggs, chris' drummer. but youre right in your thinking - chris' brother is also jon. :)

Ah APP,

I went back and read the blog entry you referenced and other than our resident "Professor" Risa giving you the benefit of her many years in Education, LOL, I didn't see any other comments about your poem, good or bad. Take my advice, you can't read too much into someone's post or lack thereof. Like any internet community words are open to interpretation. That said, we are a fairly "drama-free" zone and welcome everyone. Even those of differing views and opinions!

So fret not you and your purple poodles are welcome here!

DJ in AL said...

Oh,.....and I also meant to address your "dork" comment, dork isn't necessarily a negative around here:)

So, I had a very tiring day yesterday and got another bad sunburn – just like last year. I got to the Nassau Coliseum around 12:30 PM. There were approximately 100 people already waiting by the ramp. That number grew to about 200 as the afternoon wore on. The barriers were 30 feet farther back from the ramp than they were last year and there were five security guards instead of two. Long Island’s local TV news station was there for a short while. There was a group of girls there from Finland. I also met a group from Boston who I had met last year. The woman, Laura, even remembered my name. I gave her a copy of Chris’s new CD because someone was delinquent in following through on her request last year for a CD…. Some of the Idols had street teams there. David Cook’s street team gave out free copies of Analog Heart. Michael Johns’ street team were giving out pictures with some info on the back and signing people up for his fan email list. I gave out paper with Chris’s websites listed on it to some of the people who noticed “Chris” and remembered him. I was the only vestige of Season 6 there. At least this time no one asked if I was Chris’s mother.

The buses arrived just after 2:00 PM. The Idols that came out to sign that afternoon were David Cook, Kristy Lee Cook, David Archuleta, Brooke White and Jason Castro. I got pics of David Cook, Kristy and Brooke with “Chris”. David C. said that Chris was a “good guy” ("in spite of the blog entry" was implied). However, the pic speaks for itself (lol). That pose made a big hit with the crowd. Another woman, Jen, who posts on David Cook’s site also took several pics of his pose and she is supposed to email them to me. David Archuleta skipped around the crowd and Jason only came part way down our line, before going back the other way, so I didn’t get good pics of either of them. They were all done by 3:45 PM. I had intended to go home for a couple of hours before returning for the concert, but when I got to my car, I found out that my car alarm wasn’t working and I was stuck. Harry joined me at the venue around 6:00 PM and fixed my car problem.

The concert was pretty good. The arena wasn’t sold out, but it was pretty full. There was a lot of screaming and a lot of young kids. The crowd was on its feet most of the time. The Idols all gave great performances. For the first half of the program, half of the top 10 contestants performed solo in descending order (Chikezie, Ramiele, Michael, Kristy, Carly). Each performed 3 songs. Then there was a group number before the intermission. The performances continued by Brooke, Jason, Syesha, David A and finally, David C. The Davids had an extra song or two. There was one last group number at the end. All did a very professional job. However, I liked last year’s format better with more group numbers. Harry was allowed in with his camera, but shortly after the show started, security threatened to confiscate it, so we mainly used my crummy one. We didn’t take any movies. Samples of the performances can be found on Youtube or try Mjsbigblog.com. The setlist is in the Idolforums in the AI 7 2008 Tour section. I was too busy obsessing about why my photos weren’t coming out and so did not pay full attention to the singing. After the show ended, we went out to the ramp, since I wanted to get more photos (I had no meet and greets). However, the crowd was several rows of people deep, and we decided to go home because I wasn’t going to get close enough.

There are new pics in my photobucket:

Oh Amy, I'm a huge dork, and I don't see that as a problem. I rarely comment on the poems, but I do admire them, as I'm not great with words. I've also sometimes felt like my posts don't get noticed, but I know that if everyone commented on everything they read here, this place would be a chore instead of fun! No worries! Don't ever feel unwelcome!

Rosalee,

Great pics. Girl, when are you going to start using sunblock?

oh....and GDA the answer to your question, is yes, we should be very afraid!

risalea said...

For Amy--

A poem can take any form
But certain kinds follow a norm.
Forgive this old teacher
For being a preacher
I didn't mean to start a storm!

Rotel is tomatoes with spices and green chiles, good in a multitude of dishes, but best known for heating with Velveeta for cheese dip.

Rosalee--

Your purse pics are priceless! That Chris Sligh, he is everywhere! : ) And next time, I'm sending you some Mary Kay sunblock instead of Rotel...I think you'll make better use of it! LOL

OMG Rosalee the DC pic of him "devouring" Chris is just priceless - priceless as can be! I love it.

Great job! And Im glad you agree about the format of the show. Season 6 just sparkled. :D.

Wow. Congratulations. Everytime you say it is the last time it will be moving up in the charts it moves up another spot. This is so exciting. Way to go!!!

I just purchased your cd in a Christian Book Store. I love it! I am thrilled that AI didn't cause you to waiver in your faith. I have just recently come to understand what it means to be a Christian. I play your cd all the time to help me not to waiver.

Thanks, and great job.

Omg......Rosalee.....Loved your pics and was laughing my head off at Cookie Monster taking a chunk out of the Slighster.....LOL...LOL...so cool! Do you mind if I show your pic to another Cookie fan.....she would love it!!

Risa....who said Rotel might not be good as Sunscreen....tomatoes are antioxidants...LOL

And Amy....ditto on what everyone said about feeling invisible here and how that's not the intent...I've felt the same way myself sometimes but quickly came to realize it's not intentional so I still post when I can...I, for one, will try to do better and have decided from now on that I will always post something back to the last person above me....if everyone would do that, then no one would ever feel left out.....just a suggestion Fro Patro...

So having said that....
Sharon, Welcome and so glad you are enjoying Chris' music...I do the same as you in a way--I try to listen to Chris daily, not only because I love him and his music, but because the message reminds me that there is hope and love for all of us among the struggle to be....It makes you want to be a better person....I hope you will continue to enjoy Chris' music and jump right in here at Chris' blog. :)

Amy -
It's nothing to fret about - we all get ignored from time to time....

Deb in TN -
Sure - anyone can show the pics to whoever they want. It's up on Mjsbigblog now.
