Billboard, baby!

This week's Billboard magazine (comes out later this week) will give the details of my chart debut!  I come in at #29 on the Billboard Hot Christian AC chart.

From what the radio promoter is saying for only being in for 3 weeks, it's unheard of to chart so fast.  We now how close to 40 stations spinning the songs (AC monitored, AC indicator and CHR).  So, it is going incredibly well!

I have charted!

P.S.: look for an adventures blog later tonight!

Combine a great song, a great singer, an inspired road trip and a sparkling personality, (and great drummer road manager) and you can't have anything but a hit! Way to go, friend!! Risa

Whoo Hoo!!!Congratulations. That is amazing news. I'm not one bit surprised. If the single is doing this well, just wait till the public hears the whole album.

Chris,
I am not surprised at all! Let's face it, you are one heck of a singer/song writer! Not to mention you have worked your butt off to make this happen. On top of all of that, you are smart about the whole music industry. I mean you have really put a lot into researching how things work. I can't think of anyone more deserving than you to have this kind of success. Way to go Chris!!!

I am so happy for you and Sarah. It has to feel really good to know that you are going to be able to make a living doing what you truly love.

Congrats, Chris! I know I'm not a regular commenter. But I've been rooting for you for, well, over a year now. :) (I actually cried when you were eliminated from AI.) I'm looking forward to buying the album.

Well, since HistryQT mentioned Simon, let's just say you've gone from "Byebye Curly" to charting on a Billboard chart. In the words of Buzz Lightyear, "To infinity and beyond!" Enjoy the ride, Chris.

Wow American Idol was horrible tonight. Almost everyone did pretty bad. Should have stuck to just ONE Beatles-themed week. Best Season yet? Um, no, not really!

risalea said...

My bet is they paid big bucks to use that songbook, and they were trying to get their money's worth out of it. I enjoyed Syesha (I love "yesterday") and thought David Cook did pretty good. David A. was back, but I don't know..nobody just bowled me over tonight.

I am imagining Chris singing a Beatles song....he would have knocked it out of the park.

Speaking of debuts, Teddy makes his today! Got a text from Lori a few minutes ago and she has been in the hospital since 8 last night. According to mom to be, epidurals are GREAT! That's all I know. I'm heading out of town in about 30 min. but I'll be back this afternoon and post more news if I get some. Risa

Carrie said...

Wow, I was JUST thinking about Lori pretty randomly and was about to head out the door but decided to stop by the blog real quick and see if anyone said anything about her. Though she won't see this right yet: Congrats Lori, you're almost there!!!!

Chris, your interview in Bath, NY was great! Waiting For You sounds awesome! I'm glad they played it. This was the first interview I was able to actually catch. You were so nice to the guy who you were talking with, especially at the end.

risalea said...

No updates on Lori yet.

Chris, be careful driving to Cincinatti...saw they had lots of flooding today.

When I saw you were going to Erie, it reminded me of a song we used to sing in grade school. I'm showing my age now..."I've got a mule and her name is Sal...fifteen miles on the Erie Canal.... LOL

Hi Chris...I turned on the radio the other day and this amazing song was already playing. I didnt catch the artist so I scribbled down the lyrics as I was driving and googled it later...and it was you! I have a small request...I'm not sure if you can help me or not...but I play the piano and I was wondering if you are able to post the chords. I was so touched by your song and would love to share it with my youth group. Thank you!

And by this picture, he looks to be a healthy size! We'll have to get stats later. Cute as a button.

Cathy Storms said...

Yeah Lori...Yeah from the pictures he looks huge. Our newest Sligh fan has arrived. WhooHoo!!
Congrats Lori & Danny....
Welcome baby Teddy....

HstryQT said...

Thanks Risa for spreading the word and ladies for your congrats.
Still in the hospital and the internet is slow but wanted to stop by the blog. Teddy, our youngest sligh fan, was born after 28 hours of labor (stubborn boy!) and was 7lbs 11ozs, 21 inches (big, considering the size of me!). He was born on March 19th at 8:30. He's cuddly, social, and demanding :) - sounds like good characteristics for any sligh fan! Pics later. Til then!

Congrats Lori!
Teddy is so cute!!! I bet you can't wait until you are home with your new little boy!! Enjoy this time while he is little. He will be grown and out of the house before you know it.

Carianne said...

oh and one more thing. Did you guys read the American Idol recap on EW.Com this week? It's not a Sligh recap, it's John Peter's, but he spends the first paragraph talking about how awesome Sligh is :)

28 hours, wow. Congrats, Lori! Good to hear from you. I can't wait to see pictures.

Congrats Lori! Yeah that's a big boy for a small framed person. My sister is about the same frame as you. Amelia weighed 7 10.9 on the scale but they wrote her down at 7 lbs 10 oz, I thought she would've been averaged up but apparently not! I love that he's exactly 1 month younger than Amelia. We can celebrate the monthly bdays together :)

Sorry I haven't been on the past few days. My sister and brother in law have both been sick, started with my sister and then my brother in law caught it so I've been with Amelia when I've been home. I'm really hoping neither Amelia or I get the nasty bug they got.

Wishing everyone a very happy and blessed Easter. The weather here in So. California is BEAUTIFUL!!! It's going to be a great day for our traditional, non-traditional Easter.
A huge egg hunt for all the little ones followed by huge easter baskets made by me, then a bar-b-que. We always have it at my house and I love the fact that the grandkids look forward to it every year. Making memories....

As we approach Easter and so many will be partaking of communion on Sunday, I thought it might be fitting to post Chris's words to his "Communion Song" which is one of my favorites and is on the fansite if you have never had the opportunity to hear it. My church partakes of the Lord's Supper each Sunday, and I often listen to this before we leave for services. The words are so meaningful. I hope you and yours have a blessed Easter. Risa

Communion Song

Lord here we are, We've come to be filled
We reach out our hands to receive the blood you spilled.
Humbly we bow here with hearts on display,
To take of the Body that took our guilt away.

And we come, yes we come.

Take us in, here we are, come in and know us, come take our hearts.

This is all our hearts live for, is Holy Communion...there's nothing more...nothing more.

Lord here we are, naked in sin, to taste of the wine
And be made clean again.

Humbly we bow here to take of the bread,
Bled forgiveness run like new oils on our head.
And we come, yes we come.

Take us in, Here we are, come in and know us, come take our hearts.

This is all our hearts live for, is
Holy Communion...there's nothing more...there's nothing more.

Lord Have Mercy ...Christ Have Mercy...
Lord Have Mercy on us.

Lord Have Mercy ...Christ Have Mercy...
Lord Have Mercy on us.

Lord Have Mercy ...Christ Have Mercy...
Lord Have Mercy on us.

Lord Have Mercy ...Christ Have Mercy...
Lord Have Mercy on us

Take us in, Here we are, come in and know us, come take our hearts.

This is all our hearts live for, is
Holy Communion...there's nothing more...there's nothing more

Take us in, Here we are, come in and know us, come take our hearts.

This is all our hearts live for, is
Holy Communion...there's nothing more...there's nothing more.

Happy Easter, May you have peeps this day....and lots of chocolate.

rosalee said...

PEEPS! One of my favorites! We still have some preserved in the freezer from 13 years ago (don't ask why).
For the occasion, have fun browsing this site:

http://www.marshmallowpeeps.com/

And here's the Communion Song:

risalea said...

Ew, Rosalee, not Peeps! LOL I think they're like candy corn at Halloween, you either love 'em or you hate 'em. I'm afraid I'm in the latter category. However, I've never met a piece of chocolate I didn't like! (unfortunately!)

Hope everyone had great day. We enjoyed a good meal with family after church. My daughter's friend who is from Sweden ate with us and he survived my attempts at a little Swedish cuisine (gravlax--smoked salmon standing in for the traditional salt/sugar cured salmon authentic version).

Y'all have a great evening and a great week. I love spring! Risa

risalea said...

Oh, I hit send too early...I know many of you have continually kept Amanda on your prayer list. She has been dealing with GVHD (graft vs. host disease) and she was taken to ICU having respiratory difficulties late last night. I know she'd appreciate your well wishes on her journal--www.caringbridge.org/visit/amandajones.
I will be in Memphis on Friday and hope to visit with her if her health permits. I know she and her mom, Tammy, appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Happy Easter everyone! :)

Hi everyone,
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter day. I was coming here to post about Amanda but am glad to see the request already up. Thanks Risa. I hope you get to see her on Friday. My heart just breaks for her and her family.

Chris,
I hope you got to return home for Easter or at least spend it with Sarah. I see you've got 5 stops in Mich and Ind just tomorrow alone! I'm praying for safe travels and physical strength to complete this ambitious radio tour.

I got some really exciting news yesterday!! It seems my 15 yr old daughter's boyfriend (who is 17 and an aspiring Christian music solo artist) just got a call to open for BEBO NORMAN!!!!!! I just LOVE Bebo and to think our own Mike will be playing w/him is AWESOME!! Can't wait for the concert even MORE now!!!

Sweet dreams everyone!
