Some New Music I'm Checking Out

Now, these are all pretty new to me, so I'm not completely sold on any of them quite yet, but I'll say this: on the first few listens they're all pretty great new bands.

RUTH - Secondhand Dreaming

Ruth is a new Tooth and Nail band. I'm wary of T&N bands because T&N usually takes the attitude of putting out as many bands as possible and seeing what sticks. However, bands like Anberlin and Mae have gotten me, and I've heard a lot of great things about this band, and they do not disappoint. The songs are pop/rock similar to what my band does. They are definitely influenced by Switchfoot (the lead singer's voice is so much like Jon Foreman's that I actually wondered if Jon was making a guest appearance). But the music is strong and the lyrics are thought-provoking and deep. Check them out on iTunes...you may like and love.

JONEZETTA - Popularity

Jonezetta is an older T&N band that I have been wanting to check out since they toured with Mute Math, but have never gotten around to it till recently. I am now officially kicking myself for not checking them out sooner. They write catchy, hooky, danceable pop/rock. Some songs are in the dance/rock vein like some of the Killers (without the synthesizers), most of it is just well-written melodic yet rhythmic pop/rock. Definitely check them out on iTunes.

PLAIN WHITE T'S - All That We Needed

I've listened to these guys the least. On first listen they are really, really great. They mix pop/punk with elements of alt-country - or at least that's how it feels to me. It's really kind of interesting. They never quite go to the pop/punk but they imply it, if that makes sense. Basically, they seem to be a great rock band. They are not my favorite band, but they are great. Again, check them out on iTunes...you may really love them.

PAUL McCARTNEY - Memory Almost Full

I bought Paul's last album and, though there were some moments, it was kind of a disappointment. I think I've made it clear that I am, however, a huge Paul McCartney fan...I still think he is what made the Beatles great. Anyway, my expectations were not incredibly high, but I started to hear a little buzz. Sir Paul left Capitol records to go with Starbucks new imprint (which is a genius idea, btw). I actually got the record at Starbucks. And it is a really, really good record. I am very pleased. I swear his voice sounds better than it has in 30 years. Weird, right? And the songs are all great. You don't even need to check this one out...go to Starbucks, buy a mocha frapaccino and this record. GET IN YOUR CAR NOW!

MIKA - Life In Cartoon Motion

I like this guy, but the record is very uneven for me. He is definitely a pop artist, but at times he is reminiscent of Freddie Mercury and Queen. Some songs are great. Some songs are very weak. Hopefully he gets to a second record because I see a lot of potential, but this album is definitely one you should buy certain songs from, instead of the whole album.

Now, go get some new music.

To Chris,

Regarding The Beatles

I Don’t agree, I think what made The Beatles great, beyond the four people who made up the band, was Lennon and McCartney had to pass the approval of each other before they got as far as releasing various songs to public at large.
I think that their post Beatle recordings were not as consistently good because they no longer had each other to sound off of and assist in the writing and recording.
Their relationship, I think, impose a kind of quality control.

Other based on your performance of "Typical", I have order Mutemath’s CD

Elsewhere, I think it was in a review for "The Beatles At The Hollywood Bowl", the review commented "McCartney was the smile but Lennon was the soul".

GDA - And don't forget George Martin's influence on the group. It should not be underestimated.

However, I do agree with Chris that McCartney was the greatest influence - certainly the most musically gifted of the four of them. Not that that Lennon and Harrison didn't have talent - they certainly did, but McCartney was the most melodious. Lennon excelled in writing the lyrics. Just my opinion.

Chris -

I'm glad you're happy with Paul's new album. Now I will buy it. I've been on the fence about it because I've bought a lot of his solo work and it has been disappointing to me, too. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard I probably listened to about twice and then put it aside. I still think he did his best work when he was in his twenties.

On another topic, I have a question for you:

Once upon a time you went by the name Phono while with HPF. Where did that name come from? Was it just supposed reflect it's definition (sound/voice)?

(Just a question from the Slighologists in the group)

I picked up a new CD Called Riot by a group from Nashville called Paramore.
They are all Christians and it will be interesting to watch their progress. On the non Christian-esc side ....love Fall Out Boy except the GD song.

Gosh, Slighologists does have a more sophisticated ring than Blogger Girls. And it doesn't leave out the guys. LOL

Chris, based on your recommendation, I'm going to look at McCartney's latest effort. I'm not a Starbuck's gal, but I was in several while in Ohio (my sister should own her own coffee plantation) and noticed the CD. So, I may just grab myself a Tazo Tea and check it out!

GDA and Rosalee, I love to read your thoughts. Can't always comment cause I hate to show my ignorance of music matters, but between Chris and you guys, I'm learning a little more about music along the way.

OK, got to go do something constructive....like laundry. ugh!

To Chris & Rosalee
From GDA

one: The Beatles were held together by McCartney's & Harrison's alliance to Lennon. Early on it is reported that McCartney would complain to Lennon about having this this kid (one year younger) tagging along, which didn't make for a particularly strong relationship between McCartney & Harrison.

Two: both Stevie Wonder & Elvis Costello in talking about working with Paul McCartney basically complained he tends to play it safe & was a bit lazy and had to be prodded to put more effort in project at hand.
Macca himself in commenting on the recording of "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard" talked about being annoyed with the outside producer he brought in making alternate suggestions in shaping the performance the songs, until he remembered that was why he wanted someone else to produce, to challenge him from falling into the same old habits.

This doesn’t sound like habits someone who would of became famous purely on their own.

But he was is more formally trained as musician (on Piano) than Lennon, who was taught by his mother Julia (Banjo) and George Harrison (Guitar).
Also several acts signed to NEMS (Brian Epstein’s company) were launched with songs Paul had written, which usually weren’t recorded by the Beatle’s and the only that I’m aware was “Do You Want To Know A Secret” which is sung by Harrison.
Apparently he is song writing all the time

McCartney is a more pop song writer, earlier in the twentieth century he probably would have been a Tin Pan Alley type songsmith. Lennon’s references tended to be more Blues and R & B not traditional as mainstream.

Regarding George Martin, he was a great facilitator and teacher who also happen to sign a band that he liked as people more than their then performance quality.

Rosalee there is a special edition of “Memory Almost Full” available.

I asked for a music discussion and look at this!

I think it's funny that every time you do this, you always end up posting at least one of two albums that I actually have heard and listen to.

I like The Plain White T's because they're catchy, but they aren't one of my favorite bands. There's a few songs on their "Every Second Counts" album I really like, too. I heard that the only reason they re-released the song "Hey There Delilah" was because the single they put out before that wasn't doing so well, though.

Mika is awesome, but I definitely agree on what you said. It's hard to listen to the entire album. Now I'm curious as to what songs you think are worth buying, but I'm pretty sure I already know.

I had a lot more to say, but I'm not really feeling good right now so I'll get back on that when my stomach isn't all weuifhjsfd.

Slighologists...love it, can't spell it but love it...Plain White T's. I actually have them on my Ipod. Only because I love the song Hey There Deliah. I sing it to my grandaughter (Deliah) all the time & she giggles. Actually they are pretty good. I will go listen to the others you recommended. You haven't let me down yet.
Beatles~loved them always. To me, I don't care who the biggest infuluence was (even though Lennon was a genius songwriter) I can't imagine what the world would be like if we have never have had the beatles....
One of my favorite CD's right now is this little band called Half Past Forever...Know them? lol....Now this band really rocks!!!!

All of you in here (Including Chris) always post such thoughtful comments. I admit that I don't always have much to reply back to your insight but I do love reading what you have to say.

I'm a big fan of all different types of music but I'm not easily convinced when it comes to checking out new artists. I will occassionaly listen to requests of great new music because that's of course the only way to widen my music taste and knowledge. Chris, thank you for giving us your insight on new music. I trust your word on what's great and what's not.

P.S-For some reason when Chris wrote mocha frappuccino, I read it as froppuccino! I like the sound of that.. lol

Hey guys, i need that specail prayer tomorrow. Im gettin my bone marrow aspiration done, and well it sucks....they put me to sleep but i still cant walk or sit or lay right for a few days after. Its to check if the cancer is still in remission.

I will give you a brief thing on what they do. They cut you open like on your hip bone, they then insert this needle thing and draw out bone marrow. After they do that they take out a piece of bone really thin but a inch long. It doesnt sound bad, but i had one done awake before and it was the worst thing in the world they said if i could do that, then i could give birth to a child natrally, yea it stinks lol....well off to bed g'nite fellow bloggers, Good night Chris.

Amanda,

I'll say a prayer for you now and tomorrow.

GDA,

I guess from a semantics point of view, I should have said that Paul was my favorite of the Beatles. His songwriting is definitely my favorite...."Helter Skelter", "Eleanor Rigby", "Life Goes On", etc., etc. John's songs are great but I gravitate towards Paul's songwriting.

He may be lazy, but he has put out a bunch of great work. I have a hard time believing he could be lazy when he's been doing it for 40 years.

But some like John, some like George, a few like Ringo. I like Paul.

Peace and love,
Chris

No clue what T&N is...but I'll weigh in on Paul McCartney! One of my favorite records (out of the piles in the living room) is "Flaming Pie". I never get tired of it. :-)

He was such a writing genius, that it all came so easy...he thought it was craap. Isn't that amazing to consider?? He totally downplayed all the stuff he did with Wings, because it came too EASY for him. That kind of talent that contributed to the making of the Beatles, as well as a 30yr career, it is out of this world.

It made me sick when I heard a few years ago at the Superbowl or whatever it was, that young people didn't know who he was, and that he sucked. I'm glad his new album is a good one. Thanks for the heads-up.

Chronicles Vol 1 is next on my wanna buy list. Check out Offerings and Offerings 2 if you've recently found them.

i haven't heard any of these records yet, so i can't weigh in on them. but i just wanted to recommend the one that i have on repeat at the moment - Undiscovered by James Morrison. it's great stuff - bluesy pop with great lyrics and great hooks. James has an unusual voice with a raspy quality to it, a little reminiscent of Rod Stewart, and it suits his songs perfectly. if you want to sample something from itunes, download "undiscovered" or "wonderful world". but really, there's not a bad song on the album.

To Chris & Rosalee,
From GDA,

Unhappily post no. 3 became a tirade/rant, this more to the point or at least related.
When I first started this item, the intend was to post it and delete post no. 3 but Chris has seen it and commented on it, so deleting it now would introduce continuity problems and now basically stuck with it.

In regard to “Memory Almost Full”

I discovered that I still have a working url to Spinner.com for June 4, 2007.
It is for “Paul McCartney Puts 'Memory' in His Own Words”.
It is Paul giving a track by track commentary on the recording that appear on “Memory Almost Full”.
URL: http://www.spinner.com/2007/06/04/paul-mccartney-puts-memory-in-his-own-words/

There is also a link to a “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”
Trivia test. http://spinner.aol.com/quizzes-and-trivia/beatles-sgt-peppers-40th-anniversary

I will give away this much, at one point Pepper was not a military man but a man of medicine, until it was discovered that there was a popular carbonate beverage, that Chris and I favor, with a similar name.
Prior to the release of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, the number one selling album for several weeks was “Headquarters” by The Monkees. 1967 was a very good year for The Monkees.

“Rupert & The Frog Song”
from 1984, have you ever seen ?
It is an exquisitely produced animation featuring the English cartoon character “Rupert the Bear” (voiced by McCartney). McCartney was the producer.
It is rendered in a late 1930’s Disney style and is quite charming. The big production number is to a song named “We All Stand Together” by McCartney, which for some reason isn’t on any CD currently in print.
I have on “Rupert & The Frog Song” on VHS tape with the other animations, the reggae flavored “Seaside Woman” with song performed by Linda McCartney & Wings , who when the song was originally released as a single were billed as “Suzi & the Red Stripes” and “Oriental Nightfish”, another Linda McCartney recording.

Toonhound has description of this release:
URL: http://www.toonhound.com/rupfrog.htm

Amazon list the follow collection of Paul McCartney produced animations that is available that includes “Rupert & The Frog Song”.

CHRIS,

I do like many Paul McCartney recordings: “I Saw Her Standing There”, “I’ve Just Seen A Face”, “Got To Get You Into My Life”, “Fixing A hole”, “Oh, Darling”, Goodnight, Tonight”, “Coming Up” & “Secret Friend” (a “ McCartney II” era B-side, which at 10 plus minutes would benefit from some editing)…

Tom in ATL I *adore* Third Day. Unfortunately I haven't been as on top of the Christian music scene in the past few years - but I have their Offerings cd (2000). It's one of my favorite cds and I listen to it all the time. They have a lot of songs on that cd that my youth group used to sing so it brings me back :).

My favorite Christian band is Audio Adrenaline -I've seen them in concert twice and I've gotten to meet them and they're so cool! The lead singer (Mark Alan Stuart) "stole" me a Sprite out of the "Crew only" cooler because I was thirsty. haha.

hischildiam and hstryqt,

Will take you up on the Offerings recommendation. Got a funny story for you about Third Day - They are literally from right down the street to me - world reknowned and Grammy winning artists. And I have never paid attention to them.

Sure I've heard of them (how could you not, being from where I'm from) but I never went there. For along time I was into secular music, and still am to a large degree, but kept my religiious preferences and music preferences seperate.

Then my wife starts taking our 4 year old to gymnastics class, and came home and told me she met this other mom whose husband is in a rock band. I was like "Well - who is it, who does he play for" - and she had no idea. She's not quite as big into music as I am, so I pressed her to find out. Turns out it's the wife of the drummer for Third Day - and she had lots of cool stories about going to the Grammy's and Dove awards shows. And she is completely normal - well adjusted - and humble.

So I get interested - finally decide to pick up the Chronology Vol. 1 - and immediately think:

"What a stupid I am". These guys have been in my backyard for a decade - completely rock out AND have a great message - and I've been asleep the whole time. Needless to say I am making up for lost time and love just about everything I've heard from them.

I am embarrassed I never knew how good they were - but along with our boy Chris Sligh - my Ipod is now on full tilt with good, rocking songs with a message I can really appreciate.

Peace -

Your Third Day discovery story made me smile. Especially when you say the wife was completely normal!!! I think of the many times something really good was going on around me and because, for some unknown reason, I had formed a negative prejudiced opinion, I missed out.

Like the 1st season of AI. I saw the promos for it, and I being SUCH a music lover, cannot fathom why I turned my nose up at it and so never tuned in. Started watching from beginning of season 2 and haven't missed a single episode since.

However, I must say, when I watch Idol Rewind and see AI1 contestants (w/the exception of Kelly), I'm almost thankful I *did* miss out. I may have never given the show another chance! LOL

Here are some of my recommendations;

Brand New -- particularly their "Deja Entendu" album, though their first one, "Your Favorite Weapon,' while sounding completely different from the second, has some catchy songs. Their second album has some GREAT lyrics.

The Academy Is... -- I have yet to hear their new album, but I love "Almost Here" because they have this really awesome song called "Black Mamba." It's one of those CDs that are really catchy, fast and fun. They recently toured with Fall Out Boy, so I was lucky to get to see them.

Just two for now. I'm not feeling too good right now. But if anyone listens to them, let me know what you think.

I have "Hey There Delilah" on my Nap Time Mix in my preschool class and my kids hear it so much that they sing it! It's pretty funny :). HstryQT said...

Tawny - haha avril is merely brought into the classroom via their parents. we wouldn't play that. they just hear it at home and come in singing it.

but at nap time we have to sit there for two hours while they sleep so lots of teachers bring chill-music that's more their style rather than kiddie lullabyes. that's why i have the nap mix. but one cool thing we have is the "rock a bye" cd collection - they take rock cds and turn them into instrumental lullabyes. my favorite is green day. we also have smashing pumpkins, nirvana, no doubt, the beatles, cold play, and bob marley (there are lots of others) - if your kids do nap time (i can't recall how old yours are), you should consider those!

To Chris,
From GDA,

Eleanor Rigby,

While back checking the fact I knew it was originally called "Daisy Hawkins" I discovered it has a Wikipedia entery, which includes information on the writing and contribtution of others, new information to me.

There was a radio interview with Donovan out of NY which he commented that the first time he heard the song, it had a completely different set a lyrics about a man with a pipe.

In context he was talking about Paul walked(?) over one sunday afternoon to ask for Help finishing "Yellow Submarine". He couldn't believe that "Paul McCartney, a man that could wrting five songs by just bumping into a piano needed my help in writing a song". Donovan admitted that all he did was rephrase the line "Sky of blue, Sea of green, In our Yellow Submarine".

He his end comment was basically, given "how popular we all were at the time, we were all in a Yellow Submarine because none of us could really live a normal life".

There is a video clip of you/HPF performing "Eleanor Rigby" in what looks like bar setting. I wouldn't think it was an obvious choice for that particular situation.

"Take A Chance.." I'm more impressed having taken a ten break in listen. I now can more readily hear individual instruments and their spatial relationships and find fewer instances where I think the strings overwhelm the rest of the performance. I have found that in many instances recordings that have a kind of progressive reveal or unfolding are often in the long term among my favorites.

Have you had similiar experiences?

The your expression in the Amanda kiss photo is positively priceless.

On another subject, on Monday, the 16th, Phillip Martin, who is a music and film critic for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, had quite a lengthy article on Paul McCartney. I don't know if it's available online, but he started out by discussing the rumor from years ago that Paul had died in a car crash. I had forgotten about that...I was a very small child at the time. : )
He discussed the music and Paul's influence on the Beatles as well as the impact of the Beatles in the music world (and the world, period) affecting their individual careers. Just wanted to let you know in case any were interested enough to look it up.

Oh, yea, Chris, this is your blog. : ) How are you this morning? Hope you are having a wonderful week. I saw the link to the interview where you confirmed the move to Nashville. I think that is marvelous. It's such a wonderful area, definitely family friendly. I had an idea that hit me after seeing that. What would you think about some sort of fan gathering in Nashville at some point in the future, in conjunction with a date you might have in the area? I know you aren't much on answering questions on here...just something I'm tossing out.

OK, that's it for now. One thing I have found out, a desk job is difficult for someone who is used to being up and moving. (Teachers of young children don't get much sitting time! I'm sure Lori will confirm that!) I keep looking for excuses to hand deliver things to other offices instead of using the office mail system. And I promise I'm not goofing off.

Later! Get out there and enjoy the day, folks! Risa

That fan gathering in Nashville sounds like a great idea, Risa!
Bring it over to the fansite and start a new topic under General Discussion. It might be a year in the making, but it could be a lot of fun! Perhaps a picnic in a park next summer, followed by a Sligh concert? We'll talk on the fansite.

DJ in AL said...

Risa,

Count me in on the fan gathering idea-Nashville isn't that far for me.

Just the idea that Chris might drop in and give us a shout is enough to get me there!

rosalee said...

And GDA - We'd have to invite Mark Volman - it's his home turf! (Hee Hee)

amandarhea86 said...

I'll be there for the Nashville gathering....so i heard that it wasnt only our Chris moving there...it was Chris Rich and Phil as well... So im thinking about buying a house and telling Chris Rich he can live there with me.....

sorry im dreaming again lol....

Thanks for all the prayers guys...no worries Risa im not driving again for a while. Sept. is my next show to Memphis and then we are goin to Nashville to go to Phils families church....She is a philnatic oh boy HAHA.

Well Chris i hope your having a great day, im in prayers for you and the other idols.

Love to you all...

oh yea i love my kissing Chris pic...its so cute lol. Thanks Risa

Marley said...

Amanda - One thing the people on this blog have in common, in addition to being big fans of Chris, is that they are all very nice, spiritual, caring people - sending alot of love your way. Love the pic of you and Chris - I said the same on the fansite. Fan gathering Risa? Very clever. I'm in.

risalea said...

OK, I'm going to post the idea on the fansite. Next summer would probably be a good idea....maybe around Fan Fair? or whatever they call it now. Phil's country fans might be able to catch him there by that time. Or maybe right after, so those who wanted to go to FF and stay over could, and those who aren't interested in FF wouldn't have to fight for a hotel room. Of course, all would be dependent on Chris's schedule (that is if we expect him to be there. LOL) OK, Chris, we know you're busy, but you'll have to give us an inkling of if you think this might be a good idea.

Oh, and I just found out I have an interview on Friday for a job I think I'd be a perfect fit for, doing evals in classrooms for the state pre-k program I just left. Wish me luck, and a few prayers wouldn't hurt. Risa

rosalee said...

Good Luck with that job interview, Risa. I hope it works out.

I don't think he'd mind if we all imposed on Nashville. Just as long as we don't impose on Meltoffyourfaceland (Chris's Graceland - his new home), unless he wanted to charge admission for a tour... (LOL)

Anyone into the band Jellyfish? They had a short run in the early 90s but a lot of people, myself included, thought they were poised to be The Beatles of GenX. Everyone should check them out, very talented and super creative... just too many egos and too much talent to keep it together. Honestly, as far as pop music goes, I dont know that there has been a better band since the Beatles.

Good luck with the job interview Risa.

Thanks Marleybone and to the rest of yall....im already excited for the Nashville get together....YAY lol

Ash -

Spilt Milk still gets the occasional roatation in my CD player. Pure Pop Genious - always wondered what happened to those guys - although nobody I hung out with knew who the heck they were back in the day. "Ghost at Number 1" was I think their only semi hit on the charts.

If you're up on that era - could swap some good info on bands with you.

Peace -

I went over to Amazon and Youtube to have a listen to Jellyfish. It's easy to hear the influences of McCartney, Wings, Badfinger, Kinks, even that Bonzo Dog Band/Neil Innes(Urban Spaceman) influence that GDAhimself talked about in prior posts. Their original material is highly derivative.

When they do covers of the original songs (ex. by McCartney, Badfinger), I don't feel that they can compare to the original versions.

I have only spent a short time this afternoon listening to them. I will go back when I have more time and listen to them some more.

To Chris,
From GDA,

Eleanor Rigby, the Wikipedia url: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleanor_Rigby
I meant to include this earlier. Curiously it is easier to find with a search for "Daisy Hawkins". A search using "Eleanor Rigby" much more readily finds sites referring to a 2004 novel named "Eleanor Rigby" based on the song.

How would you best define Hero: A savior, a parent, a teacher, a mentor or a friend?

To Rosalee,

It's "Rockyourfaceoffland", you would want to have Mark Volman wandering around aimlessly and irriated in search of wrong landmark.

For the benefit of the mystified, Mark Volman was once a menber of the Crossfires, who became The Turtles most famous for their recording of a Bonner & Gordon song named "Happy Together" later "the Mothers of Invention" and "Flo & Eddie" and now currently teaching in Nashville.
Why the references?, because in the late sixtie's to early seventie's he looked much like our host, Chris Sligh

GDA-
No - I meant what I said - He has been known to melt faces off. I'm sure he'd tell you that himself. Right Chris?

Scroll down on this blog to his January 11, 2007 entry, under the song Closer, second paragraph, first line. See? "melt faces". And I put the words intentionally in that order to make sure the "faceland" part rhymed with Graceland. Maybe I was being too oblique.

Let's just call it "The Shrine" instead. We'll give Mark a map.(lol)

Speaking of Mark Volman, I know I shouldn't meddle, but Chris, if you haven't already met him, maybe it wouldn't hurt to do so before you sign your rights away:

http://www.professorflo.com/

Mark has learned from his bad experiences and has over 40 years in the music business. Don't let this happen to you:

I really like that Nasvhille meet up idea. I was actually thinking that a bunch of us should all try to get to the same show once he tours so we could meet. That'd be awesome.

18 days! :)

gdahimself said...

Rosalee,

The reason I challenge the previous name(s) of “The Shrine” was because the HPF video blogs both use the phrase “Rock your face off” early in Chris’ monologue, .

The You Tube URLs:
HPF video blog1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1184KWg7U6A
HPF video blog2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0NM2Q_bXSc

I assume another entry in the belabored, annoying but well intended insistence to approach business agreements with caution and research is probably unnecessary for
someone once planned to be lawyer.

Hi Chris,

Just saw your concert in Phoenix last night -- really enjoyed it! Our family is a big supporter of yours, and wish we could have heard more from you. You have a terrific voice that fills the stadium. Really liked the "boy band" with you out front --good stuff. Of course we are huge Jordin supporters - not only because she's from our hometown but also from our church. Loved her too! I was pleasantly surprised that I liked Phil's and LaKisha's voice much more "in person" than on TV. Thanks for a great show...looking forward to what you will do post-tour. Glad you're having fun!

Rosalee--I saw that article on touring on rickey.org too--very interesting.

Risalea--cool idea about a meetup in Nashville. After reading all these music recommendations (thanks all) maybe folks could each burn a CD with their favorite new music and people could have a swap at the picnic. Sligh's Woodstock or Cracker/Camper VB Campout...

I've also been posting Idol Tour related articles, video links, photo links, etc. under General Discussion,Topic "Re:First Show/Full Set List/Review/Video".

Others have been posting about their experiences at the Idol Tour
concerts. Take a look, if you get the chance...

xangelglitterx i could never accept that. Its a great offer though and im truley honored by your gracious thoughts. I just dont think i could do it. Somone offered to send me to Norfolk Va for a Elliott Yamin concert and my mom made a big deal of it saying i was only liked because i was a charity case. NOt saying that is what you are seeing me as. I just cant start that fight with her AGAIN. Thanks so much though. It is truley apreciated.

Fro Patrol, i always say that the fan base reflects the person they represent and I have to say, Chris and his fro patrol are some of the sweetest, most amazing people ever.

Love to you all.

I echo that sentiment, Amanda. Chris must be the best guy ever, because the fans I've met on here cybernetically (is that a word? LOL) and the one fan in person (that would be you) are truly special people.

To Chris,
From GDA,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!, if to day is you birthday.
IMDb has July 20, 1978 as your birth date: http://uk.imdb.com/name/nm2554060/
Wikipedia has April 13,1978 as your birth date: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Sligh
Are either of these correct?

Risalee,

The fans I've met on here online would be better.

GDA, his birthday is April 13, like Wikipedia says.

Imdb is a lying liar.

amandarhea86 said...

Yea i try to keep either the cancer or the dad in iraq secret...cause well saying both of them makes me look fake. I mean how many bad things can happen to one family.

I know yall dont see me that way...but my mom she does. Im a member of Elliott Yamin's fan base and i got dx one year ago tomorrow and Elliott and his fan base have been behind me 100% of the way. So she thinks that after a year they just feel bad for me. blah blah blah. Life with my mom for ya HAHA.

Thanks so much fro patrol. I never thought i would make such good friends yet again this year with idol...goes to show you, nothing is impossible.

Anyways, i will have a blog posted tonight about one year with cancer.

Love to you all.

gdahimself said...

To Carrie,
From GDA,

Thank you for the clarification.

Let's be a little kind to IMDb, getting it wrong doesn't necessarily mean their lying but it isn't good for their image for being a reliable source of informantion.
Although, someone needs to advise them a correction is in order.

TO Chris,

Birthday or not, I still wish you well.

Hey Chris if you read this before the show....tell Phil thanks for making my best friends dreams come true. She will be giving you a hug from me at the meet and greet. so yea. But Tell him THanks.

GDA, when correcting someone, you might want to quote a source
other than Wikipedia. And I didn't ask if I used it correctly. I just asked if it was a word. It is....an adverb according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary. : )

You know teachers...they hate to be corrected! LOL

Have a great weekend! Risa

BTW, what can you say about Ryan Adams' new CD?

I'm kinda new to this blog. I've been reading but haven't posted anything. I like the music recommondations. I had the Plain White T's album but gave it to my cousin because I couldn't really relate to the cd that much. I like a lot of T&N bands. Some of my favorite are Anberlin, Mae and The Classic Crime. I'm going to be seeing Jonezetta when they come to WPB in a couple of weeks. I want to get Ruth's new cd too. Just haven't been able to find it yet.

2 cds I'm going to be getting this week are Do You Feel by The Rocket Summer and Paper Walls by Yellowcard.
