Video Reminder

Just a reminder that your videos are due November 2nd!

If you have a Halloween party or something of that sort this weekend, use it as a great way to get a funny video of you in a costume singing "Empty Me"!

Now, get those videos in!

Against my better judgment I'm going to try to do one this weekend. Depending on how utterly ridiculous I look, I will send it in. Providing I can figure out how.

Figure you need a little comedy relief in the video, ok, so alot of comedy relief. Thank goodness you aren't using the sound.

I've heard you sing in the car, DJ. You're good!

I thought it would be funny to video Chris this past weekend lip synching to his own song, maybe in a disguise. But time was short, and that creative thought was late in coming to my brain. : )

I think this video is going to be a hoot. Hurry, folks, hurry! Only 4 more days!

I was looking at the recent vids mentioned last thread, and I really enjoyed HandsUp. :-) Good audio on that one, whomever took it! Whilest wading in, I found this nice interview done on 700Club with Chris.

Gosh, it's great to hear you talk Chris! Reminds me why I like you
so much. Really, really nice.

risalea said...

That was me. I told the girls I thought these videos turned out better than Sylacauga (I took all with my camera, I don't have a video camera), but unfortunately have no idea why. I'm afraid I'm still learning about it...still can't get good stage still pics without blurring.

Cathy Storms said...

Risa~Chris singing to his own song in disguise. That would of been great!!
DJ, I've heard you sing also, in Nashville, and you are great.
Me, I sing really loud and off key and when I say loud, I mean LOUD!!!
It's a gift, what can I say....

Anonymous said...

Thanks Risa. Some cameras have better audio capability than others-- but yeah, still learning about our camera too! Our efforts thus far have been strictly experimental! LOL.
Mostly, the kids fool around with that option! ;-)

DJ in AL said...

Risa and Cathy, only someone who loves me could say I sing "good".

Pulleeaasse!

:) Happy Thursday all!

DJ,

Accept that you’re loved and TAKE the compliments !
Well, maybe with the proverbial grain of salt.

If you weren't good, your singing would be met with polite silence, not spontaneous praise.

I wanted to shoot part of my video last night, but I had a feverish, very sad and clingy child. He seems much better today, so I'm hoping to be able to shoot something tonight!

DJ,
All music sung in the Lord's praise is beautiful! From the time I was little, in church we were always told to sing out, and not worry what we sounded like. It always sounds great in the end!

Cathy Storms said...

Emilyboo~That's what I was always taught to. And that's why I still sing loud. Too bad it's very off key though. lol.....

Anonymous said...

I always love gda's polite (but earnest!) responses. :-)heh.

DJ-- Sing out, and the whole world sings with you! I'm sure you do fine...and it's the thought that counts.

DJ in AL said...

Thanks guys, ahem, you too GDA! I suspect the deleted comment was GDA's 1st try at telling me to stop whining and say thank you, LOL. GDA you know I am always happy to hear from you no matter what you have to say:)

I actually have some difficulty singing Empty Me. I can't seem to find the key or maybe it's the range (?) in some parts. I can either sing somewhat tenor or somewhat alto (if that's the right lingo) and in some parts of the song there is an in between I can't seem to locate. Oh well, that's why I don't sing.

Is it Friday yet?

risalea said...

I have to go up or down an octave, depending on what part of the song he's on. Chris says he sometimes sings like a girl. LOL

Dang it, my costumed group for another video submission is not being cooperative. You'd think in costume these folks would be brave.

How are voting lines looking where you live? I've tried twice and both times, the parking lot was full to overflowing. I don't have a school visit tomorrow, and thought I'd try to go when they open at 10...of course, I'm sure a "few" others probably have the same idea! And the end of the world must be coming--gas at the EZ Mart today for $1.99!!

Cathy Storms said...

We don't have early voting here. Only at the registrar of voters and only over the weekend. It's good to hear that the lines are long. It will probably be really crowed on Tuesday. Thats a good sign. Gas for $1.99. Man that hasn't happened in a long time. Still not that cheap here, still in the 3.00 range. I so need to move out of California. lol.....

EmilyBoo said...

My boy spiked a fever again yesterday afternoon and had a bad night, so I wasn't able to do my video! I have to take him in to the doctor again today because I noticed another symptom I hadn't noticed when I had him there yesterday. Hopefully my hunch is right and I can get him treated. If he's not feeling well again this afternoon, I'm going to have to call in an aunt to take my daughter trick or treating. I really don't know if I'm going to be able to make a video in time!

I often have to go up or down an octave when singing along with Chris. It's also been known to happen to me in choir. I have one of the lowest voices in the alto section, and my director is fond of choosing songs that have altos hitting notes well above high C (on a good day, I can get to maybe E.) So I will go down an octave. There is actually a song we're currently working on where our pianist came up with a compromise chord for us (not down a full octave,) because NONE of the altos could hit the note in the song as it was written.

No early voting here. I plan on spending a good chunk of my day at the precinct on Tuesday. My hubby got an absentee ballot so he wouldn't have to miss too much work, because he's crazy busy right now! I heard Michigan has the highest percentage of registered voters that it has ever had!

Hehe, sorry for the long post, I guess I'm chatty today.

rosalee said...

Yes, Chris's songs can be vocally "challenging" at times. Sometimes harmonizing instead helps.

Harry will finally be voting this year. He's been avoiding it for years, but I finally got him to register in this county just a few weeks ago.

Not sure what I am doing about the video. I have one version that I'm not happy with. I may try again tomorrow.

Gas prices currently on Long Island - $2.79

Anonymous said...

Gas here at our exits are $2.39-2.69 as an average. I have heard of it being $1.99 someplace...and I have heard it's higher in Nashville area-- like $2.99. I wish it would stabilize! Spouse is filling his tank $20bucks at a time, afraid of overpaying! LOL.

Happy Halloweenie, peoples. Hoping lots of candy and gobblin' goodies come your way. :-)

Standing in line to early vote. It is a Disney World line! I meant to leave the house earlier and didn't get here until 10 and it is CRAZY! But I won't complain because what a privilege to be able to vote. I hope my blogger gals are getting their videos made! (Yes I'm a nag! LOL).

Cathy Storms said...

A Disney World line? Wow....I think that's a good thing.
Ahhh the video....didn't get time yesterday so maybe tomorrow at our lobster party. My son in law has some ideas. Hopefully.....Maybe I can get some of our guests to be in it. At least the kids...

Invitation! Save the Date!

Chris is going to be in concert on Saturday, Jan. 17th at Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock, AR. It's a benefit for the Junior League of NLR's signature project, Heaven's Loft, an incentive program for low income families of young children. Clients can spend vouchers earned at prenatal visits, well baby checkups, immunizations, etc. in exchange for diapers, wipes, gently used baby clothing, and other necessities.

I know we are all so scattered across the country, but I'd love to see some bloggers there. If you are interested in coming, let me know, and I'll send you info on hotels in the area (sorry, some blogger girls have already claimed my spare beds and couch! LOL) I'll cook for us and we can have a get together sometime during the weekend. Think about it as a mid-year fix to hold you over until next summer's picnic! : )

Tickets are $10 in advance and will be available on the league's website, www.jlnlr.org around mid-November.

Cathy Storms said...

Risa~I'm there. Hope some of the blogger family can come also. Great idea to have mid year get together before the picnic. So come on all you guys...If I can come from California some of you can come that are a little closer...It will be so much fun....

Cathy Storms said...

Good Morning GDA...Yes very early this morning. We are having our annual lobster party today so I have a ton of stuff to get done. We have 50 people coming. Wish all of you were here...Maybe next year.

rosalee said...

Cathy -

It's you, me and Sarah this month.
Sarah's first - on the 4th. I wonder what Chris is getting her this year....

EmilyBoo said...

My little boy shares a birthday with Sarah! And we found out that he has strep, so he will be feeling better by his birthday. :)

risalea said...

Thanks for posting the weblink with additional info, GDA. I was on the original steering committee the year we started Heaven's Loft, so it holds a special place in my heart, and I've had a chance to see so many families helped by this project. Its presence in the community is even more vital with our current economy. So, if you can come support us by attending the concert, we'll have a ton of fun, too, so you get two for one!

Rosalee, what day is your birthday? I am terrible with dates, as my family will attest to!

Off to put on some makeup so I don't scare anybody on the day after Halloween. I have a date with Captain Kirk and a video camera. LOL One more day to get those entries in!

Cathy must be having a ball right now. I wonder if she is using koozies???

I just sent 3 Empty Me video versions out. Maybe there's a line or two in there somewhere that can be used. It's really hard to get birds to cooperate. My last version just used my beanie baby birds. That was much easier!

risalea said...

I bet she's using lots of koozies! LOL

I'm just fixing to upload Captain Kirk. Lennon didn't have the words down, but he's got Kirk's mannerisms, so I hope he gets in there somewhere. He was a good sport to help out.

Lot's of November babies this month.
Rosalee we are really close. Mine is the 25th.

rosalee said...

Cathy -
Yes, we are close, but different zodiac signs. I'm a Scorpio.

And now it’s time for another installment of ROSALEE'S CD ADVENTURES. Guess who now has a copy of “Running Back to You”? BILLY JOEL!!

Last night his wife, Katie Lee Joel, was at my Long Island book store, Book Revue, to sign her cookbook, “The Comfort Table”. She has compiled her West Virginian family recipes in this book. I took Harry and “Chris” along to the event. We arrived at 7:00 PM – just when Katie Lee’s lecture was starting. All of the seats were taken, so we stood in the back. I looked around as she was talking. Just to the right standing in front of me was a man in a cap. He turned around, walked by me and stood directly behind Harry. It was Billy. A little while later, a woman came over to him to compliment him on his last concert. Harry then turned around and commented that it was Katie Lee’s night and Billy agreed. Billy stayed for the whole lecture, but disappeared when the book signing started.

I bought the book and waited on line to make my move… I said that I had an early holiday present for her and Billy. Then I gave her the CD. Katie Lee recognized Chris right away and she said she really liked him when he was on American Idol. She said that she met Ryan Seacrest for the first time just this past week.

Anyway, mission accomplished! The recipes look yummy! I’m going to have to look through this cookbook and see if Rotel tomatoes are used as ingredients in any of the recipes…

Carmen - you'd better get crackin' - it's your turn....

You go, Rosalee!

DJ in AL said...

Hey all, hope everyone has had a great weekend!! It's gone so fast!
Cathy, glad your party was a hit, that's one party I wish I could have come to, it sounded so fun!
Risa, I know you will kill me dead when you learn I did not do a video, I know, I know. It just did not work out. I ran all freaking weekend. I guess the truth of the matter is I didn't want to eclipse the song with my staggering beauty, just too much of a distraction. LOL Besides you sent in enough for the 2 of us!
Rosalee, job well done promoting Chris! Your opportunities have been so unique, the people you see!Give Harry a hug and I hope you are using your koozie, something tells me you don't, but you should they are very practical!

Carmen, wth are you? Writing another book or painting another masterpiece I guess.

Sending all my fro buddies love this gorgeous fall afternoon in the deep south.

Chris whereever you are, peace.

EmilyBoo said...

Good job Rosalee!

Circumstances have conspired against me once again in my quest to make a video. Since my son is feeling better after his illness of this last week, I was going to do it after church today. But when I got home, I had a voice mail from my brother's wife, who was with my mom in the hospital. My mom has a bad infection which has been treated with antibiotics 5 times, but comes back worse each time she finishes her medicine. This morning she was so bad that an ER trip was required, and they admitted her. My mission tomorrow is to obtain an emergency absentee ballot for her.

I'm still hoping I'll have a chance to do a quick video after the kids are in bed tonight, and that it won't be too hard to send. If not, well, I wasn't meant to be in the video.

Cathy Storms said...

Rosalee~Great job!! That is so cool...
Emilyboo~prayers for your mom

risalea said...

OK, this is probably a dumb question, Chris, but I'm assuming you've (or someone has) been downloading those videos as they've come in? I noticed our JL last day for download on that site is the 3rd. Just don't want to be left out with the spectacular performance on that one! (dang it, stop laughing!)

Brenda Covert said...

Today I got a notice to resend a video as it was corrupted. I didn't know which one, so I re-send all 3 I did on vacation, and then sent 3 more from today just in case. My daughter sang while stumbling over gravel on the train tracks, I sang in my van on the side of the road as two motorcyclists whizzed by between me and the camera (LOL!), and my daughter and I did a duet. I hope there's something worth using in all that footage! :-D

Carrie said...

I tried to post on here earlier but it wouldn't let me....

Anyway I can't wait to see the video! It's going to be great.

Back to studying for my Astronomy exam. Wish me luck!

Carrie said...

Also wooo go, Rosalee!

and Emily, praying for your mom!

My best friend's aunt died the other day and another friend's 11 day old niece passed away from heart surgery complications (I think that's what happened -- she didn't really seem to want to discuss it so I wasn't about to press.) so I'd appreciate prayers for them as well. :)

gdahimself said...

Rosalee,

Placing a copy of the CD with the Joels would seem to be the most effective so far as Billy is in the entertainment industry in general and the music industry in particular.

Hischild said...

Wow! Lots happening here as of late. Rosalee, cool meeting Billy J and passing along the tunes. Kudos to Harry for voting!

BBC, sounds like some great footage!

Emily the mag, Yay for getting one done! You seem so creative, I can't wait to see it.

Emilyboo, so sorry about your mom.

Cathy, glad you had a fun party. Rest up now. You're gonna need it.

I sent my 2nd video in last night. Took 30 minutes to send. I hope I didn't do anything wrong.
It was possibly one of the most embarrasing things I've ever done! I just kept thinking, "these people are never gonna see me again." Oh well.

Peace to you all!

Carmen said...

Rosalee,
I am glad you were able to get the CD to Billy Joel & his wife. As I said last week when you were planning this, that is going to be a hard one for me to top!!! Only person I can think of is Bono and I just don't think I am going to get that opportunity any time soon. But hey, the game is afoot!!!

DJ,
If you must know where I was this weekend, I spent a good chunk of it putting flyers for Chris's concert at Murray Hill on cars at the mall. I also put posters up any where someone would let me. So no painting masterpiece or new book. I did finally come up with idea for a video on Sunday. Hopefully it goes through. Did it on my bike!
Carmen

rosalee said...

You're welcome, Chris. I had a great time doing it.

Carmen -
You must be exhausted from all of that running around the Jacksonville area promoting Chris. I hope you all have a smashing time this week.

Of course, I also expect you to act as the "Guitar Pick Police" while Chris is in town - making sure he is using one of those www.chrissligh.com Clayton Acetal picks (medium gauge .80) that I got him. LOL

GDA -
It's very hard to arrange these things. You just have to keep on the lookout for opportunities. I still have my eye on Paul McCartney for a hit, but I think that will take a lot of patience. And luck.

EmilyBoo said...

Thanks for the prayers for my mom! She will be having some tests done today.

Carrie, I'm praying for your friends.

Ok, so I need some Monday night football, later ya'll!

P.S. Chris, I sincerely hope you know that if you don't use any of Risa's videos she's gonna get in that older than dirt van and hunt you down. Just sayin.

risalea said...

Yes I voted.

DJ, I think I try to avoid being caught making any rhyme crimes this time or at least admit their mine.

risalea said...

I thought on this election day this was worth reading...it is from an email sent out from one of our church ministers. He had been talking about a prayer vigil held last night.
___________________________________
"Today, on this election day 2008, I’m reminded of what the Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 2:1-3 “The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.” (From The Message)

While we realize that there is so much at stake in this election, my encouragement for you is to not place your hope in any one particular candidate, neither right, nor left, nor centrist. In fact, we need to look above and beyond all positions because we are looking to the supremacy of Christ. Regardless of who is elected to office, don’t give up, but continue in prayer. Pray that our elected officials will seek godly wisdom and counsel as they serve and make decisions. Our intercessory Prayers must be Christ-Centered, Faith-based and Love-empowered. We approach the throne of our Father with confidence built on a strong premise of a foundation of Biblical truth and divine promises.

As we call upon God’s blessing and His favor in this country and our elected officials today, we need to dispel the notion that we pray in order to get our will accomplished. To the contrary, we are praying for His will to be done. This doesn’t mean that we can’t love our country while also loving His kingdom; in fact, it will cause us to love America even more when we look at our nation through the prism of His purposes.

This, then, is how you should pray: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven..." (Matthew 6:9-10).

What would our country look like if this prayer were answered today?"

Praying that we are always seeking His will, no matter who comes out on top tonight! Risa

I was shocked when I saw lines out the doors at polling places on the news. But that's good, IMO. I'm glad people care so much to wait in lines just to cast a vote!

Rosalee-- Regarding Melinda's album, in all fairness, "RUNNING Back to you" was taken already. heh! It does remind me of when both Daughtry AND Kat McPhee had a song about it Being Over. The djs loved that one!
(smirk)

I have to say, the title wasn't the best thought out creation, esp being the same season Idol talent.(Like, we aren't going to notice??) However, the album itself features Johnny Lange, and has gotten some really nice reviews. I'm glad for her. And yes, we are buying, despite the title.

Nice article you shared, Risa. Thank you for that.

Happy Birthday to Sarah and Declan of the irish beginnings!

Yes - I know about that other album. When thinking up album titles and song titles, maybe the potential title should be Googled first to see if it has already been taken. Or maybe nobody cares if it already exists.

I'm hoping that Melinda's album title will cause some buzz to be "coming back to Chris".
