Another couple of Christmas tunes

I just put all 4 Christmas tunes from the EP over at myspace.com/chrisslighproductions!  Go checka-check 'em out!

By the way, the EP should be out by the beginning of December.  Just in time for my stint on the NewSong Christmas tour.  It will only be available nationally on iTunes and in concert.  On iTunes, I think it'll be $2.99 and in concert, you get it free with the purchase of Running Back to You.

So, you've heard all the songs in demo form....are you guys excited to hear the final versions?  I go into the studio this week to record drums and then, with some newly acquired recording gear, will be finishing up in my home studio!  Then it's off to mix then to master, then from my studio to your ears!

I actually met some Chris Sligh fans at a concealed and carry weapon class yesterday. They were listening to Christian music as I walked by and I said, "Do you know Chris Sligh?" They said, "Oh yes, we love Chris Sligh"
They were excited to hear about the band, Jason Walker and that Gina was working on songs.

Excited...Are you kidding me? I am so excited for you to finish this up so we can get out hand on it.

Just found some beautiful recordings on youtube from "The Space" on 9/7.
Go to youtube, type in Chris Sligh and downloaded this week and there it is....

Thank you for putting those up there...

I'm in no way ready for Christmas yet but I'll be glad to get the EP from iTunes when it's out!

Love me some Christmas music! Absolutely beautiful! Thanks once again for letting us have a sneak peak, and can't wait until the finished version is available.

OK, let me say this: Risa Ratliff will not be giving up her day job to star in any music videos anytime soon. (not that anyone has been calling-LOL) That's a lot harder than it looks. But thank goodness for a patient videographer, some Junior League girls who gave up part of their Sunday afternoon to participate, and especially to one, Christy, who has sung professionally and was able to tell us in a nice way we had to quit looking so sad and wooden. LOL I told her only for her would I break my cardinal rule of never stand next to a skinny girl in a picture. I think we ended up with something that you can at least get a snippet from. BTW, as a way of explanation, you'll see us using baby shampoo, lotion, etc. as our microphones. We filmed in Heaven's Loft, our store for low income families of young children, and used some of our baby items for props. Lennon is going to convert it tomorrow at work to a file I can upload and I am anxious to see the finished product. We actually did two segments, in case we're so fabulous you need extra footage. OK, stop laughing. Now.

Chris,
SO glad to hear you do my most favorite Christmas song - O Come Emmanuel. The most beautiful song sung by the most beautiful voice! GREAT arrangement too! Full of twists and turns in tempo and intensity. Sheer perfection. Thanks for all the listening pleasure.

EmilyBoo said...

I LOVE O Come, the upbeatness of it (am I making up words?) I never have been big on Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, but this is as good a version as I've ever heard!

Oh no, CHRIS! I just checked your regular myspace, and the upcoming show in Michigan (Oct 24) is gone! Is it cancelled? There was another one listed for Michigan a while back that had disappeared too. I'm not feeling the love!

Haha Risa, it sounds like your video is going to be cute. I don't think I'm going to be able get one in on time. Oh wells, I'm sure the video will be great without me.

what is itunes? does that mean only play on the computer? I only buy CD's. I don't have an MP3 player or anything. I seriously do not want to listen to my music through headphones. I don't understand why so many people do. I like CD's. I take my CD player from living room to kitchen to basement to play music. and I really miss songs that I have an actual record albums (you know, those "great big" CD's).

Susan,
I suppose the only way to get a physical copy of the Christmas EP would be at one of the Newsong concerts. With itunes, you buy and download mp3s, which can be played on your computer or an ipod. (I don't think that other brands of mp3 players work with itunes, someone correct me if I'm wrong?) I don't like listening to headphones either, unless I'm cutting the grass, but I do love my ipod. I have one of those ipod speaker docks in my kitchen and I listen to it all the time. I like that with a click of the wheel, I can listen to any playlist I want, without rummaging through my massive collection of CDs!

I just called the church where the concert was to be that I wanted to attend this weekend, and indeed, it is canceled. :(

Nice music, Chris.

Cathy -
You're welcome for the The Space videos.

For anyone who wants to know what Sligh concerts are coming up and hasn't seen it, - in conjunction with his Myspace site, also take a look at iTickets.com. There's a bunch of dates there.

I loved the videos. I knew you had put them up there because I heard your voice. I'm so glad your back....

Chris~Anyway you can extend the deadline for the video? My video person (Audra) has had sick kids so we haven't been able to do it. If not I understand....

CHRIS!!
I heard Arise on the radio on the way home just now!!! It was the first time hearing you on the radio -- FINALLY! I have a habit of switching through stations constantly and then I was like "Oh this sounds familia-- OMG!!!" Hahaha. Finally Buffalo is ON THE BALL. Or maybe I am because I only listen to the radio in my car but this is probably more exciting to me than you haha.

Rosaleeee!!

Thanks guys, for the welcome.

Randy -
I hope you took a look at my (Harry's) videos. I'm sure you wanted to see them.

I'm glad Gina is teaming up with Chris again. To change the topic a bit, I'd like to see her team up with him in a different way - taking on the Alice Kramden role against Chris playing Ralph. I know I've said before that Phil would make a great Ed Norton. If anyone ever remade the Honeymooners (a true version - not a King of Queens version), these folks should play those parts. I don't know who should play Trixie, though. Any ideas?

Kellie Pickler! : )

I found some info on a concert this weekend I'm sending you, Rosalee.

rosalee said...

Risa -
I thought about Kellie Pickler, but then I thought she may be too strong a character for the role and overwhelm the others. Maybe Kristy Lee Cook?

Now look at that mug!:

Here's a classic photo:

And now this:

He's a natural for the part, don't you think? Does anyone want to chop in the rest of the new cast?

And thanks, Risa for that other info. I'm going to add it to both sites.

Happy chatter in here, it's nice. :-)

risalea said...

That's pretty clever, Rosalee! I'm not a photoshop/chop girl, or I'd put in my suggestions.

OK, like Cathy, I'm going to beg for an extra day or two for video submission. My sister mailed her mini disk from her camera to me so I can get my friend to convert it. Well, it hasn't come yet, I hope it will tomorrow, and I still have to get it to him, and I don't know how busy he will be on Thurs. So, if it is possible, can the deadline be like Sat.? My poor little niece and nephew stayed up way past their bedtime Sun. night to get it done. OK, I know I'm using small children to get my point across, but whatever works. It's a sickness...procrastination runs in the Buzbee (our maiden name) girls' blood! : )

Carrie, I'm like you in that I only listen to the radio when I'm in the car (not like when I was a teenager and had the radio on all the time). and I change stations a lot!

"both fansites are updated" -- can someone tell me what both are? I am very forgetful. please? Thank you!

The fansites are:

http://www.chrissligh.com/

http://chris-sligh.info/

Under chrissligh.com you can find a News tab, Tour Dates tab, etc. This blog is actually under the Interact tab. There is also a Fro Patro (Fan) section, where you have to register (it's free) to participate on the Message Board.
There are threads in there for photos, videos, etc.

Chris-sligh.info is the original fansite, started in Feb. 2007. Sligh news is also kept up to date there, just in a different format.
