If You Didn't Love Me

Phil Stacey's first single officially went to radio yesterday. And, guess what? It's freaking awesome!

  • CLICK HERE TO HEAR IT!!!

  • I don't care if you don't listen to Country, get your rear ends on the phone and call the local Country Station at least once today and ask them to play the song. The Fro Patro' goal between now and April is to help that song get to #1 on the Country charts!

Oh thank you SO much for that link! I looked all over the internet for this song yesterday, and I can't wait to hear it! I am going to listen right now! ^_^

You are so right...It's awesome. Will start calling local country radio stations now...
It will be #1 in no time...

It is good. I think he will do well, but to me his voice is not distinguishable enough. Sorry but I like someone who voice I can pick out of a crowd and say, no one else sounds like them. He has a good song, which will definately help, but he is no Chris Sligh.

You are who I am waiting to buy, and promote.

Nice, catchy tune. Good work, Phil!

To assist with the radio call-ins, here's a link with a comprehensive list of country music radio stations across the US and Canada:

    Thanks Rosa.

And Nita...I appreciate the vote of confidence. Maybe you could compromise...promote Phil until my single comes out?

I think it's really catchy! I love it, and I think my friends will, too... but then again, country is our favorite genre. It's got a great hook, and I really think people will catch on to it. I'm happy for him!

So doesn't Phil's album come out in April? Why is his single being released so early? (this IS early, right? Or are singles usually released 3 months in advance?)

    rosalee said...

    Chris -

If you want to shorten my name, just call me Ro. No one calls me Rosa... except you. I'm not Spanish or Italian.(LOL) Besides, Rosa is too close to Risa, and if you make a typo, you'll likely hear some screaming coming from Arkansas.

    Anonymous said...

Yep Phil is going to be just fine. That is going to be on the charts for sure. I like country music but don't listen to it driving around because I usually end up balling like a baby. Of course someone once said music is worthless unless it can make a complete stranger break down and cry. BTW I bought Frou Frou at Best Buy yesterday, very interesting, gives you a nice easy feeling. It was under the Sublime CD I bought and at the check out and the clerk gave me the strangest look....

You can also hear the song at Philnatics.com. It is awesome!!!

As soon as I saw Chris called you Rosa, Rosalee, I started laughing. I knew you'd have something to say about that! Haha.

    Well anyway.

I've never been a big fan of Phil. Or country, but you covered that base. I did listen to the song and I agree with Nita (on the rather support you part), but since he's a good friend of yours, I emailed a few of the country stations here.

    Me? Scream? Never! : )

Great song and KSSN (kissin' country) is hearing from me!

    Chris,

I requested Phil at the two different country stations we still have here to as many as the DJs as I could without pissing anyone off. Now you can't say I don't love ya because I didn't even do that for Blake. (And I still don't think they even play Blake here.)

    Chris,
THANK YOU! I was looking for this song!! I love it, and I will request it. Melinda's Backups are also on board for helping promote Phil and his song. <3 Megan

A friend of mine who is a Philnatic posted the song in her blog with the YouTube video, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Go, Phil!!

I gave my son Blake's CD for Christmas and made him very happy.

btw, WLFJ has started playing Mandisa's song, God Speaking. That song is freaking awesome! It's my favorite from her totally awesome CD! She was on AI a year earlier than you and is doing so well. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on your CD when it's released, Chris, and I know I'll love it too!

Hi there--I'm not a country fan, but Phil sounds great! still no home internet, and evil Verizon now has 30 days to respond. So, I've got some catching up to do. I got a kick out of your promo video, Chris--very you of you! And your starting a production company is another great facet of your talents. You've got quite a career ahead of you, my friend.

I just wanted to say on behalf of the philnatics, Thank You All so much for promoting Phil, and for calling in your radio stations. I have been NO help, because my tiny radio station does not have it yet, but the people at the Columbus Ohio radio statio sure do know who I am! Just wanted to thank you all so much, and we will surely do the same when the amazing Chris Slighs song comes out on the radio! Thanks Fro Patrol, and Chris!

    heehee, can't win, Rosalee! LOL

Lee is a popular middle name...Mine, as you might suspect is LEA. And to further confuse everyone, my real first name is Clarisa. (rhymes with Lisa) My mother thought Clarisa Lea was too long of a name to call a baby, hence I became Risa. When my husband wants to make me mad he calls me Clarie. (as in Clara with a long e) And for some reason, when older people hear my name they always want to call me Reecee (like the Reeces cup)
And to really make you feel sorry for me, my maiden name was Buzbee!

On a totally different subject, please continue to pray for Amanda. She has had a lot of issues and has been back and forth to the hospital. They put her back in the hospital yesterday after she had just been sent back to Target House on Tues. Both she and her mom, Tammy have really been through a lot. As a reminder, her journal address is:

    Cathy,

Yea, Tornadoes in Jan. go figure?Actually it's not all that unususal for us to have warnings in Jan. though generally they don't start hitting us until Spring. Nice huh? My big joke around Tornado season is the fact that every time one hits AL the media seeks out the woman who lives in a mobile home out in the middle of nowhere(I have nothing against mobile homes before someone starts) who invariably will be missing half of her teeth and have no bra on and interview her. I guess it's no wonder people think everyone from AL is a hick or whitetrash (though we have more than our fair share of those,to be sure) Anyway...random thought.

Speaking of random Crazy is playing on my radio and I can't help but think how much I like the version Chris did way better than the original artist. That may be one of my fav songs that he did, not sure why, but it really showcased his voice to me. Loved it! Think I'll go find it and have another listen.

Ok, so that's all I got, randomly speaking!

I found it on youtube, I really like the song. Honestly though, Phil's voice isn't very country to me which makes me like it more than I would normally. My favorite performance of his was "Blaze Of Glory" and that's more the style I like his voice in the most. Get me? lol

    Carrie said...

Tawny, you just think Chris is 100x more country than Phil. (I almost typed Paul at first.. that's what my mom used to call him haha) BUT that's because Chris can pretty much sing anything. Hi, sing the ABCs and I'd buy it. Well maybe not but you get the gist. ( coughexcitingmrbrowncough;) )

But Phil is a good singer, I won't deny that.

    Anonymous said...

Lmao "Leave The Light On" is seriously an awesome song. I just had it on ;) Chris has never responded to me mentioning ( coughexcitingmrbrowncough;) ) and I hope he doesn't get annoyed with me now :P

    Carrie said...

Now you did it, Tawny. Chris is going to come on here and lay the smack down on you! (possibly with a ham)

.....well, I hope not for real. haha

    Anonymous said...

I can deal with ham, as long as it's not turkey (or stuffing) it's all good. ;) Okay that wasn't funny but I tried.

So yeah.. AI premiere's next week. We have about 4-5 weeks of auditions, yuck. I wish they could find a way to stick the auditions into 2 weeks because I'm so sick of week after week of 90% horrible singers compared to 10% good.

Has anyone watched Dance War? It premiered this past monday. A guy I know made the top 14. His name's Chris Holyfield. Here was his audition for the show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnACN-LFy3g

    Anonymous said...

Also if anyone's interested, this guy David Archuleta is only 17 but has an amazing voice. He was 16 in this video from last month. He's singing "Mary Did You Know." I've heard that he makes the top 24 so we'll see. He won star search back in 2002 and was also on in it 2004.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQxi9UjqfKQ

Okay I need to stop talking about other people on here.

Is it April yet? :) Can't wait for Chris' album.

    Carrie said...

It's funny when we take over the blog because then people think they missed something big and then it's just us. Sorry everyone! I'm posting now because I need to smile and I'm not sure how much I'll be around starting next week.

Auditions are boring. I'm not really excited. Though I only remember last year sitting in my room and barely paying attention to them and then there was Chris and I was like ummmmm that's who I'm voting for the end.

    Carianne said...

    Tawny

I agree with the AI auditions being too long. By the third episode, I'm pretty much burnt out on the "funny" auditions.. I do like Hollywood week, though, and I wish they would show more of that. I hear this year they're showing 10 hours of auditions, and 1 hour of Hollywood week.. bummer.
Oh, and I don't think they've picked the top 24 yet. It's too early for that. However, they have already picked a top 50 I believe.. They'll bring the top 50 back in a few weeks and then choose the top 24 (unless I am very much mistaken).

    Anonymous said...

Oh okay, well then if not he's for sure made the top 50 so we'll see.

"then there was Chris and I was like ummmmm that's who I'm voting for the end."

Couldn't have said it better myself Carrie. That exactly how I felt last year too. I saw/heard Chris and was like okay, don't need to see anyone else.

    Carrie said...

I hate that they cut Hollywood week down because yeah they show a lot of drama and such through that, but you also get a sense of who the contestants are without the scripted interviews and such. I'm sure they'll focus on them more this year, but I'm not even excited. The way they pretty much glossed over the contestants last year as if they were pawns and not actually as important as the mentors and Idol Gives Back (which was still important, don't get me wrong) makes me sad. They don't change things on the show unless they realize they screwed up the year before. The instrument thing is cool, but I guess I just think Chris got screwed. The way things are this year I'm guessing he could have won it if he were on this upcoming season. I'm sure someone will think I'm delusional but through the blog (not the show) we've gotten to know him and see how he can handle a guitar and keyboard, both that are impressive. He would have rocked the heck out of this season. No one I've read about yet interests me.

    Anonymous said...

I agree. I hate that they now show 100 episodes of auditions and only ONE of hollywood. I didn't like all of the drama much but we got to see everyone again and I like the group performances.

BTW: Chris-Blake-Rudy-Tom, will always be the best hollywood group performance ever!

Take a look at USATODAY/Idol Chatter's statistics from Nielsen Soundscan on the American Idol album sales. Your number has an asterisk next to it, meaning that Christian bookstore sales weren't included. I thought you said that your total number sold was closer to 25K. I can't believe that the portion of that from places like Amazon.com, Best Buy, etc. was only 1700. Do you have an idea of what the HPF CD sales breakdown by source is?

    http://blogs.usatoday.com/idolchatter/2008/01/the-ultimate-so.html#more

    ChrisSligh said...

We've only sold 1700 albums since signing it over to Brash.

We sold about 22,000 on our own. When you sell something indie, without distribution, even things like Amazon don't register to Soundscan because you have to register the album to Soundscan in order for it to show...that didn't happen till Brash took it over.

    DJ in AL said...

    Chris,

Thanks, that was my interpretation but I wasn't sure. I'm guessing that this was an option in their contracts.

I guess at the end of the day it's all about the cold, hard numbers.
    Course what isn't?

    Anonymous said...

Numbers-- only the people higher up, and those of us worrying about it. heh.

Rickey had spoliers about AI7, but I haven't looked at it too much. Until you see the film clips and singing, there's nothing to get an impression on, IMO. Huge night on TV, AI premeire--our DVR might explode! Good times are here again.

Meanwhile I will say, I'll be looking forward to all the story as it unfolds. It's always a trip, and this one isn't even over yet!

    gdahimself said...

It's always easy to cite poor sales with the insinuation that it's a failure on the artists' part than admit that may be 19 Entertainment/J Records Arista may not have a handle on how to promote these artists.
If they were selling really well, they would keep picking up every option they can on these artists recordings for as long contactually as possible.

Poor sales doesn't necessarily mean their lossing money, but the profit margin is deemed too low to be worth their while.

I really don't like my name much and I think you are blessed to be called Risa, a cuter version of the original. Somehow & for some reason I never got a name makeover. My fiance used to call me Cleo. Only he used it, no one else picked it up. Once he was gone, so was the tag.
But you're right, about Clara. Sounds too dated. Makes me think of Aunt Bea's friend. ha ha

AI7: 'round the corner. I've GOT to get my recording issues straightened out before Tuesday.
Although, I've got a feeling this may not be a very good season. The talent is supposed to be great although, looks like these kids have been around (the industry) awhile and had "connections". I much prefer people like Kellie Pickler or Bucky. One day working at the Sonic/local body shop, next day performing for millions. Although it didn't bother me at all w/Jordin. Did I make an exception w/her cause I knew her??? Nah, can't be. I really don't practice selective criticism. But why else would some of these I already know (a bit) stick in my craw but Jordin never did? Oh well.

A few of the other Idols are also doing that book signing this month at Borders.
Gina is doing one in somewhere in Illinois on Jan 20th. Kevin Covais is signing near me tomorrow, and Constantine Maroulis is PERFORMING and signing at the Borders near me on the 26th. It's good that they're staying in the public eye.

Yes, we have a DVR crisis to manage, scheduling wise. It's a nice problem to have. Altho I am a little annoyed at the AI machine, I will def be tuning in to see what high hopes they have picked for us this year. Wow Rosalee! You are really on top of things! LOL. Guess I have some browsing to do, stuff to pick thru!
    Thanks for the info.

TV Guide has the AI promo stuff in it, Randy, Paula and Simon on the cover. Apparently, she can't even recall the people from last year's names...Mm. Color me impressed.

    Rosalee,
The howmanyofme site is cool. I spelled my name correctly and it said there are NONE of me! OK, we already know it can't be 100% accurate but that sure can do a number on your sense of self-importance. LOL

Spelling my name phonetically -the way Risa spells it gets me 1,519 others w/that first name. So...now I know. Thanks for posting.

There's a disclaimer at the bottom that says it's "for entertainment purposes only".

There's also a FAQ page and Accuracy page which explain more:

I'll check the accuracy page for curiosity's sake.

Rosalee! I was looking at all the Kevion Covais goodness last night. Remember this performance?

    "When I Fall in Love"

So sweet, gosh. Look at that little face. I liked looking at all of them, but the one that made me laugh and laugh was one of him doing "hip Hop"--that Big Butts song. LOL.

Him doing "Imagine" against the blue sky was good, but let's face it, he's no Blake. But then, who is?
Thanks again for all the squishy ChickenLittle video love. heh!

Yes, I remember that touching performance. AI5 was the first season that I watched all the way through. Although he was not exactly the strongest singer of the bunch, I rooted for Kevin, being that he was from my neck of the woods.
