It's been almost a month

Figured it was time to let you guys know what's going on.

The deal is still waiting to be finalized. Gosh this thing has taken forever...I mean, it makes sense when you look at when it has been done - everyone has taken vacations while negotiating this deal, we finally get it done and then Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays happen. Haha...it's almost laughable how many breaks have come along during this negotiation. It is almost as if God is simply trying to teach me patience through this whole process. I mean, think about it: Originally, I was supposed to start recording January of 2009. It's only God's grace that I haven't gone insane.

However, to look at the bright side: the album I would've made in January of last year would NOT have been as good as the album is now. I think it would've been a good to really good album. But over the last year, the project has taken focus, I've figured out what I think I'm supposed to say, how I want to say it musically...and the songs are just better than they were then. Really, almost half the album has been written SINCE we started negotiating this deal. The album is a completely different thing than it was in May or June.

The Record Company I'm signing with has what many consider to be the best radio department in the CCM business. They've broken several acts in the last couple of years and have had great success with newer artists at radio. I am PUMPED to see what they do with my singles.

2010 is going to be busy for me, but not as busy out in the public as the last couple of years have been. We will be recording as soon as the deal is finished and will probably spend 3-4 months working on the record this time. The single, though, should come out in March or early April. I'm doing a small tour in March and April - probably 15-20 dates in 2 weeks spurts - with Andrew Witt, Satellites & Sirens, Dr. Preacher (a very funny comedian) and possibly Danyew! I'll have more on that tour to come.

Also, this year I have several tv and film possibilities coming up. My agents have been working hard and once I have more definite info I'll give it to you, but there are some cool things about to happen in that arena.

The summer will be a busy time of writing. I'm planning on being out in L.A. for part of the summer, writing with a ton of writers out there, and of course I'll be writing with a bunch of people here in Nashville. Since the album will probably be done at that point, I'll be able to relax a little leading into the album release and the Back to School Tour III.

So, the album will come out in early September, I think....obviously nothings definite until it's definite, but according to when the single will hopefully come out vs when the album will be done, etc...I'd guess early September. Just in time for the 3rd Annual Back To School tour.

The 3rd Annual Back to School Tour will go out in September/October again, then we will be doing a cool acoustic tour in November and then (hopefully) my 1st Chris Sligh Christmas tour in December. We'll probably only do 7-10 dates, but it will be cool to play some Christmas music.

So...that's how the next year is looking!

Sounds great! Thanks for the update!

Wow...You have a lot of stuff going on. That's awesome.

With all the tours and mini tours coming up, there must be at least one in So. California. Please..Please...

And coming to LA to write. That is awesome news. We have to at least have lunch or dinner while your here. If Deliah finds out you are that close and she didn't get to see you, she will be so upset. She still thinks you are her best friend and of course she is yours.

Sometimes (oftentimes!) God's timing is not ours. But, as in this case, having music that is even better than it would have been a year ago, well, once again, things happen for a reason.

And a single coming out in March or early April? I call that perfect timing! : )

P.S. I have found the best after Christmas sale! Lifeway Christian has Running Back to You for $5! (www.lifewaystores.com-go to the music tab, and put "sligh" in the search bar)

Good time to stock up for those little gift giving occasions that come up during the year!

BTW, I saw a twitpic that looked suspiciously like Chris in a leopard snuggie. But, that must have been someone else. LOL

You have a lot of promising stuff coming up this year!! That's all very exciting. You have just the right attitude about the long wait on this deal - God's plan is always better than our plan! It'll pay off big time.

Looking forward to the coming year and hopefully seeing you come through Indy on one of your tours! (And there's also potential Lori & Carmen fun in store, since she'll be out here with me now - yay!)

Happy New Year, Chris!

It sounds like you have a full plate for 2010 - and that's a good thing! I can't wait to hear about your tv/film ventures. Hopefully that will bring you to NYC...

EmilyBoo said...

It's all happening in God's time. I CAN wait!!! That doesn't mean I won't be a little impatient! Especially to find out about this tv/film stuff.

I'm gonna have to request that you come to the Detroit area for either a back to school show or for a Christmas show. And that you give me plenty of notice, OK? Thanks. :)

You have to put Orlando on the spring short tour!

Dude, great to hear from you! Happy New Year! Thanks for catching us up on stuff, man 2010 is gonna be big isn't it? It sounds like alot of work, but work that you love, so I'm thrilled for you! I admire your attitude and patience this past year, I know it hasn't been easy but I think you've handled it really well and grown alot through the waiting.

Can't wait to see you perform again, hoping that will happen in April!

In the meantime keep cranking out the music and having fun!

Sending you love from DJ back in AL!

Ooooh boy!! That all sounds so great! I'm itchin' to hear your new song on the radio.
AND I am really psyched to hear that you are once again thinking about tv and film! I kinda thought that was gatherin' dust at the back of the closet nowadays. I think you'd be so right for it.
I'm looking forward to all the good stuff musically speaking and everything else!!

Chris-sounds like you got a lot going on! I can't wait to hear what you're going to be doing with TV/film. I hope you're thinking about coming to COLORADO for a Back to School tour or other tour-DENVER or C/S would be awesome!

DJ-did you see the comment I left for you on Chris' last blog? It's the last comment on there-I guess you haven't seen it since I haven't heard any smart comebacks about Texas from you (hee, hee). Read it and let me know what you think. Go Longhorns!(you'll understand this when you read said post.

P.S.-Happy New Year Chris

I know I don't have any real reason to be (you're not my child or my sibling or even my friend), but I'm proud of you. :)

DJ in AL said...

Amy,

Forgot to comment on your comment! Fact is I'd be perfectly happy for TX to stomp AL, cause I'm an Auburn fan, not an AL fan, LOL! 2 teams in our state my dear!

Hey Rebecca!!
Guess what, girl?! We're not related to Chris and we're so proud of him we could bust!!
(that happens all the time)

Keep Chris in your prayers...per twitter, he's got some not so fun dental work going on today!

EmilyBoo said...

Chris, praying for you as you go through your dental work. Also, someone tagged you in a photo on facebook involving what appears to be a leopard print snuggie. When you get the chance, what is the story behind that?

Amy's Purple Poodles said...

Chris-I hope your dental work goes well and you start feeling better soon.

DJ-Oh, darn! I thought for sure you were an Alabama fan. Couldn't even get you riled up.

Happy Mon. to everyone!

DJ in AL said...

Chris, dude, hope they gave you good drugs for your dental drama!

The leopard snuggie cracks me up and after the day I had, I needed the laugh!

Be well!

risalea said...

I'm not saying this is Chris Sligh, and I'm not saying it isn't, but if the snuggie fits...

A leopard snuggie? Now that's a fashion statement if I ever saw one. I needed that today soooo much.

Hope your feeling better Chris.

Wow-- yeah, you've been busy! :-)
I think it's a good thing. A very good thing.

Thanks for checking in, and telling us some of what's new. Sounds like you'll be awfully preoccupied in the year to come. I hope these planned-for things go great.

DJ in AL said...

Risa,

LOL, yea, I mean it could just be another curly haired bespectacled dude that er looks just like Chris.

Priceless.

I love the leopard snuggie picture!
It made me laugh so hard. It sure looks like Chris, and there were some guitars in the picture.

Hi everyone...
just a note to say prayers needed badly for my fiance, Ted's brother, Lou Bonds. He goes in for surgery in the morning. They will be removing a cancerous tumor and one kidney.
thanks to all.

Cathy Storms said...

Robyn~I will keep your fiance and his family and of course you in my thoughts and prayers today.

Praying, Robyn! Hope all goes well for Lou.

Speaking of prayers, thank you for the prayers for our family friend, Lauren. To date, the only side effect she's had from chemo has been fatigue.

Chris, give us a report! Have you survived the root canal?

Cathy Storms said...

Please keep my son-in-law's family in your prayers today. His uncle, Brian McDermot, lost his battle with cancer last night.

risalea said...

Happy Saturday, folks! Chris, we're getting worried. Hope you have survived the dental trauma and are well on your way to recovery.

Had a fun evening last night with a couple of friends attending Katy Allen's (Kris's wife) premiere of a new web series she is starring in. Got to visit with Katy and as always, got photo documentation! LOL

This has been a rough week health wise for so many, those mentioned previously and my boss's dad is now on life support after a series of strokes. Please keep all in your prayers.

Hope everyone is enjoying some sunshine...it's sunny and cold in Arkansas this morning!

Amy's Purple Poodles said...

Cathy,Robyn, and Risa-I will keep you, your family members, friends, and boss in my prayers. It seems 2010 is not getting off to a healthy start.

It is sunny and cold here in CO, but at least it's not snowing.

Well, some good news on the health front. My soon to be brother-in-law came through his surgery very well. They got the tumor and removed one kidney without a hitch. They moved him out of ICU after one day, the next day he was moving from bed to chair and the day after that he was up and walking in the hall and complaining about the food!
He still has a ways to go in healing but he has a positive attitude and tons of determination! Thanks for all your prayers! God is Awesome!

There's a 4 part interview with Chris in that snuggie up on the fansites (Chris-Sligh.info and Chrissligh.com).

Amy's Purple Poodles said...

Rosalee, thank you for mentioning the interview with Chris in the snuggie. I watched all 4 parts, I just wish you could of heard all of "Empty Me" instead of just the end of the song. I also couldn't get the "How Great Thou Art" video on chrissligh.com to work. It just kept bringing up the interview. Any ideas on how to get it to play?

It was funny watching Chris do an interview in a snuggie!

Amy

rosalee said...

Amy -
The "How Great Thou Art" video does work. Just click on the first two words, "Click here". It will bring up the video. Then click the button in the middle of the video screen.

risalea said...

Thank you, Rosalee! And the video was perfect since it was posted on FB...great way to introduce our concert here in April!

Just a reminder -

American Idol starts tonight - 8:00 PM on FOX.

Rosalee, Thanks so much for posting the "snuggy" interview. It was really good.

Risa, do you have a date yet for April?

Regarding Snuggies,

When topic of Snuggie was mention at the dog park, a lady said not to mention them around her husband. He, about 4 or 5 years ago, wanted to make her something like a Snuggie. She thought the whole idea was rather silly and not to bother. He is both still slightly offend and in that "I told you so" stance on the subject, which we discovered first hand as he walked up while she was explaining this

DJ in AL said...

GDA-LOL, can you imagine how much that guy is figuring he lost? Too funny.

Rosalee, you didn't really think we'd forget did you? J/K Every year I wonder if I can "invest" in another contestant, and while for Risa's sake I pulled for Kris Allen last year, let's face it no one can fill Sligh's shoes, at least not for me.

Happy Tuesday!

Cathy Storms said...

GDA~That is a pretty funny story. I bet that guy could strangle his wife everytime he sees a snuggie commercial on TV.

Your so right DJ ~ No one on AI could ever take the place of Chris in our book.

Amy's Purple Poodles said...

That story about the husband who wanted to make something like a snuggie for his wife and she refused cracks me up! Yeah, I bet he was ready to strangle her-especially when he thinks of all the money he could have made.

I'm in agreement with everyone else here regarding AI-NO ONE could ever fill Chris Sligh's shoes!

Amy's Purple Poodles said...

Has anyone been watching the AI auditions? Did you see the "Pants on the Ground" guy? I was laughing so hard I almost fell out of my chair. Its amazing what they'll put through to the judges, no doubt to get ratings. I can't believe some of these people would actually want to be seen on national TV!

We're halfway through the week-hope its going well for everyone.

Amy

risalea said...

Have been watching AI auditions even though this is my non-participatory season after Kris Allen. (couldn't get into season 7, either, till the end...too much invested in Sligh! LOL) I have seen some stand-out girls, though...Katie, Mallorie, Maddy, and I even liked Vanessa, though I think she's gonna' fold once she has to do something other than country.

I also heard two folks slaughter "Kiss From a Rose." Made me long for an earlier rendition. : )

Have a good Thursday, folks!

Anyone else truly sympathize with poor MaryJ Blige judging last night on AI?? OMG. One thing I have to say is, I thought she was really polite! I didn't think I was going to like her so much, but I did. I really did.

Spouse is very excited about Shania guest judging next time, in Chicago. I think it's payback, for all my time fangirling!heh! ah well!:-D

I try not to get too attached to any one pre-Hollywood contestant, because sometimes these people really fall apart. I did like a couple of them. We'll see! I liked that 16 yr old Mallorie, but she is soo young. Can she keep her focus? IDK. (Such a sweet voice tho. I like a voice like that, that has a bit of a smile to it.)

Also?-- Liking Kara this year! She's not taking any flap! Awesome.

Cathy Storms said...

Risa~I agree. Everytime I heard someone sing, "Kiss From A Rose", made me think of season 6. Made me a little sad...

Anonymous said...

Yes, Risa, I have to agree... the butchering of "Kiss from a Rose" left something to be desired..and caused me to pull up the Sligh all time classic rendition of that song...WHAT a voice and what personality and wit. I am looking for great things with his new CD.

Amy's Purple Poodles said...

So far I like Mallory and Maddy. I agree with you Risa, I like Vanessa but think she won't make it when she has to sing something that isn't a country song. The butching of "Kiss from a Rose" was awful. That guy who started cussing out Mary J. Blige was really rude-they even had to get security to get him out of the building. They should have had the singing police officer haul this guy's rude little hiney off to the pokey!

Too early for me to get into Idol yet, if ever. Too many names I can't possibly keep up with. Once Hollywood week gets here I may start to get little more into it. Just don't ever see me getting heavily invested again.

Lots of really, really bad versions of KFAR.

My 2 cents, not worth that.

Happy Thursday to all!

I meant to say Maddy before, not Mallorie. Ooops. And I heard, she is Gone-- didn't make it thru Hollywood week. Poor baby.

I cringe during the Audition Rounds, and get only slightly hopeful until Hollywood. Hollywood tends to show us more about the people, and then I can tell more who I like and who I don't. (Of course to be fair, I had second thoughts about Kat McPhee her season, during Hollywood week.)

People that are all gung-ho about a contestant already, it seems a bit premature. I regard it as hype, until more is proven out, you know?

As for Snuggies popularity? I blame economics, and so many people trying to winter in colder homes! I however, would never give one as a gift. I had a bad enough response one time, giving a shawl. (it wasn't even leopard spotted either!)heh.

Hischild said...

Hey Bully. That's funny about the giving of the shawl. I've got nothing against them myself though I've never owned one. I just think that's the worst word EVER! Heard on NPR awhile back that the most hated or negative response word in the English language was MOIST. I bet shawl was a close second.
How's that for mindless chit-chat? haha
