Busy Busy Busy

So, life has been busy. Understatement. For sure.

I need to do better of staying in touch.

I've been writing. A lot. In March I've already got 12 writing sessions on top of about 10 shows. Plus I'm writing for my record....which is going really well, by the way.

I had about 20 songs written for the next record plus Requiem. Over the last few weeks, we were deciding who would co-produce album #2 with me. We talked with several different guys but finally came to 2 guys who will co-produce with me: Derek Webb and Don Chaffer. Derek is a solo artist who used to be part of the band Caedmon's Call. Don is the lead singer of the band Waterdeep. Don is also the guy who wrote the song "You are So Good to Me" that was a big worship hit for Third Day a while back.

Both of these guys have a huge rep for being true artists, so I think my goal of making a more artistic record has become much closer to a reality. I'm really excited about them working on my record!

Um..what else?

I guess not much else...just lots of writing!

At least it's a good kind of busy! I was wondering if you would have time to review American Idol each week, but it sounds like you have more important business to deal with.

Glad to hear you are busy writing. Hope you & Clint are scheduled to do some. Ya'll make a good team.

Just a note to all. Please get ready to vote for Chris for the Dove award. It looks like the voting lasts for almost 2 months. Pass the message to everyone you know.

Chris could you please change the picnic link? That one is out of date. New one is www.fropatropicnic.webs.com
If anyone hasn't gone to it yet, please do. We have some pretty cool slide shows over there with some great music.

You're working with Derek Webb on your next album?! That.Is.Awesome!

I'm a huge Derek Webb fan, and I can just imagine how great the results will be from such a collaboration.

It's always exciting when you are writing! And I guess it's ok to say, since you announced it from the stage the other night, that "Vessel" is the next cut off "Running Back to You." I'm thrilled about this...it's one of my faves.

So how many of you out there are on Facebook? We are thinking one of the best ways to get the voting info to go viral is to get it out to everyone's Facebook friends (and myspace and any other social networks or email lists you're part of) There's a fan page on Facebook and we are sending notices out from there....and hoping that info will get passed along.

Have a great day, guys. Ordering our Dove Award tickets today. WOO HOO!

And prayers for Chris M. today.

Chris,

Are all the tracks going to be co-productions or are you going to produce any solo, as you indicated when you issued the Christmas EP?

Also anything power pop along the lines of "Let You Know" or "Typical"?

Kind of funny, the word verification is an actual word: disco.

Chris,

I just had to let you know that one of my FB friends (actually it's the son of an old friend, Emily's age) just posted the Empty Me video and has quoted your lyrics as his daily prayer.

I think that is pretty cool.

So good to hear from you again, Chris.
Love the sound of the phrase "next record". And working w/Derek Webb makes me more anticipatory than ever. Releasing Vessel is wonderful. I have always LOVED it wanted it out to the masses. It'll do well, I'm sure.

Chris, I saw you said recently in an interview there would be a single released to pop and to christian rock...vessel doesn't seem to fit either of these categories. If you could give us the full scoop on the upcoming single(s) release it would be greatly appreciatd. A sales update would be nice too! :)

That's such exciting news!! Caedmon's Call's self titled 1997 album seriously changed my life. I still listen to it all the time. I love that you're working with one of the band members, in Derek.

And you deserve another congrats on the Dove awards nominations!! yay!!

Well Miss Cathy,
I was VERY excited!!!!! I was at work just a short break between meetings in what was a gloomy day. So that being said I was really excited and really in need of some good news. Two is awesome!! Next year I am hoping for male vocalist of the year and of course song of the year at the CMA's in the fall. Speaking of the future song of the year.... I have been hearing it ALOT here in the sticks AKA Wichita Ks. KFDI has put it in pretty good rotation so pretty happy about that. HOw are you? I am thinking all went well since I haven't heard anything different.

Carmen...lols knowing you're addicted is step one! Very excited that Vessel is next up. That is one very beautiful song and one that was always a personal favorite.
Gda I am not sure I could have typed that one in the word verification. I spent a decade trying to avoid it! I would have had to refresh till it said Motown.

Before you start voting for Chris tomorrow (Thursday, the 26th) at www.gospelmusicchannel.com, please consider Kris Allen tonight on AI, if you find him worthy. We haven't seen him much, and of course, that doesn't help with the votes. So show my fellow Arkansan a little love if he does well. : )
