Merry Christmas Chris! Enjoy your family :).

Risa has our Christmas EPs in the mail - I can't wait to get it!

Teddy's first Christmas has been fabulous. A nice relaxing just us (for now) family affair. It's been great not having to run around "visiting" but instead being able to sit back and enjoy the day.

How's everyone else's Christmas? Have a blessed day!

So great to hear from you Chris. And good to hear you're enjoying the day with great people. Hope you're able to get extended r&r.
Anxiously awaiting your EP.

I've had a wonderful but exhausting week. Got to see Michael W Smith's Christmas Concert and hear Melinda sing "All Is Well". George Huff sang "O Holy Night". Both totally fabulous! Then Jordin Sparks came home for Christmas and sang at our 4 Christmas Eve services. We did a run through of our whole worship set Monday on her 19th birthday. She sang "All Is Well" solo. Absolutely flawlessly beautiful.

Cathy,
Glad to hear end of treatment is near! Hope your strength is holding out.

Love to all of you!

Clearsa, is that you?

I meant to add, I had the EP playing in Gaylon's truck as we were heading to my mom's this afternoon and it was the first time he heard it. He's like, "hey this is pretty good stuff."

Equivalent of a Grammy coming from DH. : )

dMerry Christmas Chris! I hope Sarah, you, and your family had an awesome day! Thanks for making my year special, too.

Carrie-Merry Christmas!

Cathy-glad your treatments are getting closer to an end. I wanted to ask what kind of cancer you had but I didn't want to be nosy or offensive-if you don't want to talk about it its okay. I was just wondering because of my dad being diagnosed with breast cancer.

We had a quiet Christmas. My sister's whole family got sick a few days before Christmas Day so we could not be around them because my dad's white blood cell count was low. Technically, we haven't had Christmas yet. My brother is coming on Sun. with his wife and her mother and we will get to see my sister's family on Tues. I can't wait to get my EP!

I never mentioned my dad had cancer until now because I thought people might still be mourning the loss of Amanda-I didn't want to make people even more sadder. He was diagnosed in Nov. with breast cancer. They had to remove the breast and he has to have chemo and radiation. Our family has always been blessed with good health so I was shocked when we found out. Yesterday really hit me hard because the family could not spend the family together. Sometimes I don't know who to talk to because I don't want people to be around someone who sad. I am trying to be as positive as I can, but its not easy. Please keep my family in your prayers.

Absolutely, Amy....please keep us posted on how he's doing.

Amy~I also have breast cancer. I had my left breast removed. Your not being nosy at all. It's not a secret and I would be more than happy to answer any questions you or your dad may have. I am almost completely done with my treatments (WhooHoo) so I am more than willing to help you anyway I can. You can always email me at Seestorms@aol.com if you want.
I'm very sorry to hear about your dad and I know how hard it is to have to stay away from sick people during treatment. I couldn't see my grandkids for almost 6 weeks and it really sucked....I will keep him in my prayers.
That is why we are all here, to help out each other anyway we can...

I'm still waiting for my EP. Maybe Monday.

Anyway, I’m exhausted right now. We just got home around 10:00 PM after a round trip to Albany, NY starting at 8:30 AM this morning. It took us 4 hours to get to the Winterfest (including a meal stop), and except for some passing drizzle, the trip was okay. We arrived around 12:30 PM and got 10th row seats at the Palace Theater for the Idol show. The Idols performed solo, and in order of their elimination – Brandon Rogers first, then Chris and then Blake Lewis. Brandon performed 6 songs – “The Wrong One”, “Out of Style”, Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition”, “Broken”, “Joy”, and “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” He gave a very energetic performance, using canned background music and playing keyboard at times. You can hear most of these songs on his Myspace site. Chris used acoustic guitar or keyboard and sang “Cry Tonight”, “Empty Me”, "In a Moment”, and a short ditty “Rock Stars Need Money” in the first show. He substituted “Let You Know” for “Empty Me” in the second show. Blake gave more live demonstrations of his looping and layering of sound in his act. He also sang “How Many Words”, “Jealousy”, and “She Loves The Way” in the first show. In the second show he substituted “She Will Be Loved” for “She Loves the Way”. Harry and I got to talk to Chris between and after the shows.

After the two shows, there were large crowds at the merchandise table after the shows where the Idols were selling and signing. The finale moved over to outside of City Hall. Each Idol sang one song. Brandon reprised “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?”. Chris sang “Love Remains” and Blake sang “She Loves the Way”. After that there were fireworks. We ate out in town and then braved the dense fog traveling back home. Hopefully I will have some videos and photos of the shows to put up shortly.

rosalee said...

Oh - and I forgot to add - the trip was totally worth it! They were all in great form.

risalea said...

Rosalee, it is good to hear from you--been missing you the last several days! Sounds like it was a fun evening.

Cathy Storms said...

Rosalee~sounds like it was a really good show.

rosalee said...

Yes, Cathy - they were two really good shows.

I've got some Winterfest videos up on both fansites -

Thanks for the videos, Rosalee and Harry! Be sure and click "watch in high quality"...they are really nice!

tRisa-I got my EP yesterday! It is so awesome-Chris' voice is just amazing! THANK YOU for all the hard work you did to get these out to us!

Kathy-Thank you so much for your message. I almost started crying. My dad acts like cancer should be some horrible secret that no one should talk about-he is handling it well and has a good attitude. He goes to chemo again tomorrow. He and I were supposed to go to Hawai'i on New Year's Day-we had to cancel the trip but got our money back. It's nice to have someone to talk to!

Rosalee-I'm glad you had fun at the concert.

Chris-What did you get for Christmas? I remember reading a past blog where you talked about how people always give you stuff you don't want or doesn't fit-that is so true! Since we are waiting until Tues. to have Christmas I got to open one of my presents Christmas Day-I got a box of See's Truffles-mmmm!

It's funny to think that last year we went to Disney World for Christmas and I remember thinking how fortunate we were to have everyone in the immediate family there (except my brother in El Paso), and everyone was healthy. That trip has meant more to me because of the events that have happened this past year. You never know when life's going to throw a curve ball at you and turn everything upside down. No one ever promised us tomorrow-enjoy what you have today.

Cathy Storms said...

Rosalee~Thanks for the videos. I love them. Now I really can't wait for Arkansas. Tell Harry he did an awesome job.

Amy~you are so right that everything changes after a diagnosis. We try to go to Disneyland every Christmas but this year it was just to much for me. Yeah its sad but just wait till next year. Hang in there and be sure and tell your dad he is in my thoughts and prayers...

rosalee said...

Risa -

I got the EP today and am listening to it as I convert more videos from Saturday. Nice job, Chris. And thanks, Risa!

Folks -
I am in the process of putting up videos of Brandon's songs. I'll let you know when they are up. I'm not sure if I will put up Blake's songs because there appear to be a few out there already on Youtube from the Albany NY Winterfest.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the recap on the Winterfest shows. It was good to hear about it, and that they were all in such good voice. :-) Nice that some people used the opportunity to showcase some more holiday-esque material.

I really like Brandon Rogers, but he seems to suffer from the same malady some singers do, with picking songs not-quite-right for him. His voice overall is just great tho.

Three great voices, three different talents. I hope it was a nice time, to get reacquainted.

rosalee said...

And reacquainted we were. Brandon's voice sounded especially nice on "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" - a song that I don't particularly like. His song, "Joy" is a song that I could see Rockapella doing. Actually, I could see Rockapella doing several of his songs. He really looked like he was enjoying himself up there.

Chris,
Wanted to let you know that I finally got a chance to listen to your Christmas EP. (much thanks Risa!)

While I had already listened to the demos, I was totally blown away by the EP that you produced. Although it was Christmas music, it had a very raw, edgy feel to it,(especially your arangement of What Child) that was reminiscent of TACOSB. I absolutely loved it! It was exactly the Chris Sligh music that I have been longing to hear. Now don't get me wrong, I like RBTY, but TACOSB is still my favorite. RBTY has a more polished feel to it and for me is missing the bold, provocative and unconventional quality that TACOSB has. I believe that the difference in the two albums lies in the fact that you were the one who produced TACOSB.

Though you are a wonderful & talented singer, I am beginning to believe that your greater talent lies in producing. You did an outstanding job on this EP! I am waiting with bated breath for your next album, now that I know that you will be one producing it. Great job Chris! Also kudos to Don on the string arrangement. He once again did a fantastic job!!

No big plans for us this New Year's Eve. It's snowing outside right now. Maybe we'll get Chinese take-out later.
However, on Friday night we're going to Eleanor Rigby's - a restaurant/pub nearby where my next door neighbor will be performing Beatles and 60's music. That should be fun.

Isn't Gina Glocksen getting married tonight?

You are absolutely right about Gina. Tonight she is getting married. Jordin & Haley are suppose to be bridesmaids. Congratulations Gina & Joe!!

Here's to Joe and Gina:
May they find in each other
the perfect partner for life's adventure.
May their marriage be filled with happiness
exceeding their wildest dreams.
May they see again each and every day
all the qualities in the other
that made them fall in love and marry.
And may they always be grateful
for life's greatest gift--
a marriage based on true love.
May your true love give both of you
joy, and peace, and satisfaction.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!

I got to go to a New Year's Eve party at the last minute. A few people from the ski group I am in decided to have a party at the last minute at someone's house. We each took something with the host making the main dish. We had appetizers, spaghetti, and chocolate cake or cheesecake for dessert. The men beat the women at the Genius edition of Trivial Pursuit-but just by a hair! We had a champaigne toast at midnight.

Happy birthday to Lori and Chet!

Here's to a new year-hopefully better than the last one!
