«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 393 of 393Hey, I'm a nice Jewish girl and I don't follow Christ - I mean, you know, we don't! LOL! But I do really like your voice and I think you have a real shot at the crown.
Go, big boy! Go!
You were awesome Tuesday and I thought your comment to Simon was hillarious..
I voted for you for half and hour just for the comment alone, the other half hour was for your talent :)
good luck chris you are in my prayers!
Dude, Ah knowed there wuz sumthin' about you Ah liked when Ah seen you on Idol. It was Christ in you.
I'm not a real Idol watcher, but I'm rootin' for you! You've got what it takes.
Sam in the OC
I'm so happy to see someone Godly, intelligent, hilarious, and quite vocally talented on America's radar. I'll be supportin' and prayin'. :) Isaiah 12:2. *bows*

Good sir, I believe you have what it takes to make it to the top twelve. In fact, I'd be surprised if you didn't make at least the top four. Also, I am digging Mute Math now. So thank you for introducing me to some good music and for having a damn good voice.
You are awesome...best of luck on Idol...I will be voting for you!! God bless
Hey, Chris -
Someone on the internet has posted a blog using your name and image:
http://chris-sligh.blogspot.com/2007/02/tenets-of-my-faith-and-some-poetry.html
Just want to give you the heads up.
Your diary of Idol process is great. Funny, clear, so interesting. Reminds me of my favorite Paul Theroux's travel books. Why not be the author of THE book for Idol? Good luck in contest.
I figured out the riddle. You took this down until after Idol. Thus the reason you are hoping your blog doesn't come back too soon. I WIN!
Chris, your song choice of "Typical" this week was brilliant. I liked your version better than Mute Math's. Songs with raw emotion fit you like a glove and will resonate with the audience. I'd like to hear you sing "Numb" by Linkin Park or "My Immortal" by Evanescence or "Mysterious Ways" by U2. Good luck!
Your music is great and I look forward to buying the new album. No matter what happens on American Idol, you rock -- talent, great personality, hilarious sense of humor and very entertaining!
Oh my gosh! I knew you were Christian when you mentioned on the web site that Mutemath was one of your favorite bands! That's really really col by the way. And you're totally my favorite on American Idol, no doubt. So I really hope you win! There's a lot of competition there, but you got 'dis. ha.

Chris Sligh, you ARE amazing!
You have an incredible voice and we're completely hooked on you!
Best of luck!!! You've got our votes!
XOXO
Your fans from Boston, MA
you rock, chris! good luck!
Hey Chris
Im writing from the UK and you are going to be a huge success.
Saw you on Idol singing Typical - never heard the tune before, but you rocked the house with it.
Keep that up - picking songs with personality is key - none want to hear those dreary rnb/middle of the road dirges anymore - stay true to yourself
Simon Cowell has zero music credibility in the UK. He is great for TV but comeon does he really know about music?
Would he have put through Noel Gallagher, Morrissey, Kurt Cobain if they were broke and had to audition - I doubt it.
So heres the deal - stay true to yourself and I promise Ill buy your album whatever happens on Idol Im sure others will be the same.
OMG .... Chris ... you HAVE to read your American Idol message board, under the topic "Simon vs Sligh" ..... TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!!
One more thing .... ROCK ON!!!!!!
Chris ...
If you're looking for a church while in the L.A. area, check out Christian Assembly in Eagle Rock. Amazing worship ... awesome spirit of community ... diverse population of believers. And home of the one and only Tommy Walker. Check it out!
Dude, I've been a fan of yours since I saw your audition. You have a personality, a superb voice, and you're really lovable. Pity the blog had to be taken down here.
I hope you feel really happy reading all these comments, knowing that so many people support you and are behind you every step of the way of your Idol journey. Too bad there are some haters, although it seems that every Idol contestant has them. Some people make me really sick... they're wasting their lives, bashing people they barely know. :(
I'm rooting for you, man! Keep your sense of humor and follow what you believe in. Oh, and you had better be in the Top 12.
From, a crazy Idol/Sligh fan
P.S: I wonder how you feel about Rudy getting eliminated? He was in the same group as you during the Hollywood auditions.
Chris- My husband and I would like to suggest that you sing a Barenaked Ladies Song, particularly The Old Apartment.
It would rock.
Good luck-
Brigid & Jeremy
I think you have a great personality and an awesome singing voice to match. I really hope you go far in the competition. Major props for the Teletubbies and il divo jokes. I'll be voting for you. Peace.
Chris, I think you are doing great, and wish you the best of luck. I know of you from Church and have really enjoyed hearing you sing for us. I miss listening to you sing, but am very happy for you on AI. God Bless and Good Luck, Mendy
Wishing you the very best in American Idol. We luv you over here, and hope everything goes well for you ... now and always.
Sue C & Family from U.K.
Whatever God has in store for your future... dont loose your roots keep the kingdom on target, and get us a great new Christian album to listen to.
Hi Chris!
I'm rooting for you on American Idol. I love the comment you made to Simon - which had thousands of people, I'm sure, googling "simon cowell teletubbies" that night!
Love your voice, humor, and poise.
May you make it to the end!
Sorry you couldn't come and sing at my sister's wedding last summer, but I wish you the best of luck. Your parents made a profound difference in my life, and I thank God for them. All the best
Good luck! I'll be voting for you!!
Our whole family is rooting for you and eagerly awaiting our copy of Take a Chance on Something Beautiful. Keep it cool, keep it funny, and keep it real!
Chris you've got great style and an awesome wit and personality. I heard your voice and thought, yeah this guy could win it all. Have you ever thought about singing a song from the group A Perfect Circle, I believe that you could bring down the house with anything from that band, if they are liberal with your ability to choose your songs. Peace! Greencrush72
Hey there, WoW , you got some mad talent there! I just seen you on american idol and your are really great! I wouldn't be voteing for you though, sorry but i live in Canada, i would if i could . good luck man and i'll be cheering for you.
p.s - you should be doing some counting crows you'd rock that or dave matthews!!!!!!!!!
Canada is cheering you on and we know talent(rock star 2 years in a row)!!!!!!!!!!!you're a wonderful singer and i can't wait to hear more from you.
chris, you need to sing something in the style of the singer meatloaf, you kind of have that style and voice, trust me
Chris,
You don't know me from Adam, but you have had a huge impact on me.
MuteMath should be very concerned with you upping them on their own song, cause I love the way you sang it.
You make me want to learn to sing that song, so that I can have the feeling with me all the time when I heard you sing it.
You do what you need to & keep rocking man, I hope that your singing is doing it for you as much as it is for me.
A friend Smiley
Chris,
As a fellow "former conservative fundamentalist" who almost auditioned for American Idol this year, I feel like you are living out what I had pictured for myself. I backed out because my parents had concerns about the "Hollywood lifestyle." I'll definitely be watching and voting for you this season. Stay strong in Christ.
Wow .... you're HOT, dude! Amazing performance tonight. Rock on!
SING "HOOK" BY BLUES TRAVELERS!!!!!!
Chris, you are so awesome! From the moment I saw your first audition I knew you were the one I'd be voting for all the way!! You are my American Idol. ;) Keep rockin! God will bless you in everything you do!
Peace,
Julie (a hard core fan from Portland, OR)
ps. everyone around here is rooting for you - the Northwest loves you!!
Normally, I would never send any type of fan mail to a celebrity (that's you!) because...well, I just don't do that. But I have no qualms about commenting on a blogger. Even if his blog seems to be, um...missing! ;)
Best of luck to you. You seem to be a real person. I love that you dedicated your song to your son and that you clearly adore your wife. No matter what happens on idol, you'll do well in life.
Love the voice, the humor, the example known as Chris Sligh. It's been cool to see a person who proclaims to be a christian in our pop-culture world. Thanks for the great Tuesday nights so far and I pray that God continues to bless you.
Chris, I don't know you, I have just watched you on American Idol, and as I watched you this last episode just by your behavior and maneurisms I began to wonder, is this guy a Christian? And so I looked online, and came across this blog! I just want you to know how awesome and inspiring it is that in such a non-Christian place Christ's light has still shown through your life. So be encouraged and keep it up! You're great, God Bless!
Chris, Please be a VERY long time coming back to your blog! It is always such a treat hearing you sing and what you have to say. All my support from Singapore.
I'm not really a fan of American Idol...BUT, I do have a decent "ear" and a marketing background. Therefore, I snoop in to watch early parts of the show; and then handicap who I think will win. My batting average is intimidating----from the first edition of Idol to date, I've never been wrong (including World Idol...Kurt Nilsen STILL by far the best Idol contestant ever in terms of pure talent). For 2007, I've got Chris Sligh picked to win. Even with semi-weak performances, his humor and personality can carry him thru. Probably won't watch Idol until the last show; but I project Chris to win it all.
My hubby and I think your going all the way and if not you'll still end up a star. Congrats:)
chris,
loved your audition & your sense of humor. you reminded me of one of my best guy pals, even more so when i learned you were also a christian. then got a stars & stripes & saw an article about how your fam lives near me. wish i was in the US so i could vote for you. rooting for you & knowing that your sense of humor & God will keep you grounded through all the craziness that is reality tv.
You're an inspiration.... I hope you win... I know I'm voting for you, and I hope the rest of America does too... You're awesome! :)
Chris. God bless you. The way you handle yourself on stage and in the public eye has been a testimony to the Lord. If I was American I would vote for you....your Canadian sis-in-Him, Amy.
Chris - we are from Asheville, NC very close to your hometown. Now living in Tallahassee. We have watched Idol since day one, season one. I have been surprised before by the talent they have found. Love Clay and Bo and now Chris Sligh. Wonderful talent, incredible voice, beautiful heart and soul. All the right stuff. Like Bo, even if you do not win, you will have many fans. Don't worry about missing work, you are getting ready to be blessed.
Lisa
Hello Chris,
I heard your interview about using a strategy to win the competition and thought that you ought to have your "fans" help choose your songs for you.
You have a very good voice but it won't suit all songs so of course you have to play to your strengths, with songs that make the backbone curl.
There is a song by Andrew Roachford called "How Could I ( Insecurity ) which I think would suit your voice. Have a listen, see what you think.
All the best, Duff in the UK
Chris, am rooting for you and praying for you . I've never met you but have listened to Berg Vessel many times......God has given you a great voice and I pray that you will continue to use it to praise and glorify Him....Steve L's mom
I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) by MEAT LOAF.
Can you sing this one?
You're the best.
Mike
Chris, great job last night. I was so jazzed that you picked a Ray song. I love him and didn't know many other people who knew him. Anyway, we have all our family and friends pulling for you (and voting) in Ohio, South Carolina, and now North Carolina.
God bless and can't wait to see you win!!
Shannon and Kurt
you rock CHRIS SLIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you are my favorite american idol ever!! i loooove u.. GOOD LUCK!!
I wish you all the luck in the world with Idol Chris. I know I'm just one of several million people that have commented since Idol started, but I've quickly become a fan.
I love your music with Halfpast Forever! I hope that no matter what happens with Idol, that you can sometime rejoin them! You guys rock my face off! Never stop! ^-^
valerie from the zotones as performed by amy winehouse could work too..good luck
ok, so I'm not a Christ follower, but I am Meatloaf lover, and I can see you on stage singing your Meatloaf heart out. So it's older than you are; but 16 million fans can't be wrong. And we're all coming after you. You're amazing.
Hey!
First, love the humor. You crack me up.
Second... best voice! I hope they keep you around for a LONG time!!
And Thanks for getting me hooked on Mute Math! They rock!
YOU ROCK. I vote for you every time dude.

CHRIS SLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHHHH!!!!!
Keep bringing it my man :D:D
Greetings from Odessa, Missouri! You have all of my family's support. When I saw your profile, it was no surprise to me that you were a Christian. You are our American Idol! Good luck and God bless!
The Stills
Hey Chris,
I am Chris Osborne's Mom. I just wanted to let you know that we are following your progress on American Idol. We are excited for you!
Little did we know that summer you, Chris and Andy D. put the new roof on our garage that we had a STAR sweltering in the sun on our roof! I also remember standing in the kitchen while you played your guitar and sang a song you had written. That was very special.
We wish you all the best. We are praying for you. Take care!
Hope u win american idol
awesomely watchi'n u
omg i feel like such a little kid. my name's Andrea and i LOVE you. i've been voting for you the whole time. i knew you would make it, you've got a great voice and i love your whole look/personality. that song you did for your voice was super sweet. the voters are gonna eat you up! Good Luck, i hope you make it all the way. I'd buy your album!
Chris, American Idol is being manipultated by auto dialers and vote for the worst websites.
I wish you luck cause you are the best there with or without the religous dogma on here.
just know America can vote but cannot outvote an outdialer set up against you by negative people like VoteForTheWorst.com
Love you in unconditional Human empowering and universal, not dogmatic and fearmongering Love.
Wow, Chris! I just downloaded your band's new album. Phenomenal. Beautiful. This is my new favorite album! Seriously. I don't say that very often. You guys are truely amazing!!! Wow!
Are you allowed to perform any of your songs on American Idol? If so "know" or "In a Moment" would be great ones for the show. Really, any of them would do - every last one of them is fantastic. I think you would blow the rest of the world away (the one's who haven't yet discovered how awesome you are).
This album isn't coming out of my player for a long time.

Chris: You are an awesome singer and have a wonderful sense of humor! Ok, and you have great hair!
I pray that you will seek His will in all you do! Keep serving Him and He will bless you beyond your wildest dreams!
My family and I look forward to watching you for many more weeks!
I look forward to reading more about your time in Germany! I too lived many years--and still am living--abroad!
Sing on!
Christina
Good Luck from Tokyo! You're bringing a much needed ironic sense of humour to the contestant side of American Idol.
Hey Chris,
I have a song suggestion for you..."Round Here" by Counting Crows...it's secular but would be perfect for your voice...and a favorite of mine. God's blessings as you continue on your journey through american idol.
Beth K.
Chris, I was thinking about this even before I read that you're a Christian...please consider singing Brooks & Dunn's beautiful song, "Believe" if you get a chance to select a country song. I LOVE your voice and you would knock it out of the ballpark with that one!
Shine on, man, shine on.
Chris -
I can't find my face. It seems it was ROCKED OFF! I saw the "Know" video on You Tube. Damn, you guys are good! Would be really awesome to see you do this song on Idol. I'm waiting ...
No matter what happens on AI, you are the next great singer. Your band rocks, you have a good feeling about you. I would most definitely purchase any album you put out. Simply Amazing.
Hey! Why did you take your website down?
Absolutely love you on the Idol- I am from SC too and me & my husband are with you all the way Best of Luck!
Angie
Hey Chris! You won me over when you sang Trouble. I downloaded the orginal singer/song and you have it beat. when you belted out that blues voice with all that emotion, I got the chilly willies, thats what the people want to hear. Keep on rockin. Your funny personality and unbeleivably fabulous voice will be your ticket to win...keep on blowing us away!
Peace -n- Happiness
chakalakaboom
Hey Chris - AWSOME CD!! Congrats on a great HalfPastForever album. Too bad you can't tell everyone about it when you're on AI - or can you?
Anyway, I downloaded it from halfpastforever.com and it totally rocks. It's been in my car since I got it. I may even get a hard copy from Amazon.com when it's available.
I'll be voting for you on AI, as usual. Totally glad I got to see you and HalfPastforever here in Greenville before AI whisked you away.
Peace - Scott
Chris, you've been blessed with the best voice of the men. May I make a suggestion of choosing a John Popper/Blues Traveler song such as 'Run Around' or 'Look Around'? I believe both songs would compliment your vocal style. Keep up the Good Fight!
I knew I should have read all your blog entries before it was too late.
But I'm lazy. Hopefully they'll be up again soon, because the ones I did read were awesome.
Stay cool, Chris.
Hey Chris! I want to hear you sing a John Cowan song. I suggest "Good Woman's Love".
Chris you need to draw from artists that have heavy deep vocals. Waren Hanes/Gov't Mule/Tastes like wine, example. If you picked the right Rare Earth song it would be great, the rare earth cut the other contestent sang didn't fit his vocals.
Thanks for singing a DC Talk song! It was really great to hear you bust that out and you did a great job! Keep up the good work, brother!
Chris -
You're performance this past Tuesday was AWESOME! Keep singing from your heart. Rock on, Chris Sligh, ROCK ON!!! America loves you!
A few other Christian bands that are really cool and technically sound: Starflyer 59; Havalina (early recordings); Over the Rhine (Good Dog, Bad Dog); Lost Dogs; Danielson Famile (if you want something really crazy)
HERE IN TEXAS YOU HAVE A GROWING FAN BASE OF BABY BOOMERS AND WE HAVE TAKEN A VOTE IN AMONG OUR OUTREACH GROUP ABOUT WHAT YOU MIGHT SING NEXT AND HOPE THAT WE MAY HEAR YOU SING MEATLOAF. WITH YOUR AWESOME VOICE AND ITS POWERFULL STRENGHT WE FEEL IT WOULD BE AS THEY SAY TOTALLY OFF THE HOOK MAN.
GOOD LUCK AND GODS YOU AND YOURS
WANDA IN TEXAS
Man, my wife and I have been voting for you over the last few weeks. I wondered if the American Idol folks would make you give up all communication with the outside world... kinda like the places we went to college, eh?
Anyway, I started a thread about you over on PCCBoard.com right after your audition. Stop by and chat with us some time. I think one of your old roomies from P-double-C is on our messageboard.
Later, Bro. Best of luck.
Hey, when I heard you start singing the DC Talk song, I almost wet my pants. Awesome performance. Awesome song. Keep on rocking for Christ!!!
actually another Christian musician said...
I can't believe they said you chose the wrong song last night (3/6)!
It really was the perfect song for you.I think you really sound good and will be
very successful with your own stuff. You are really talented.
A lot of people that coming off of American Idol say that getting eliminated was
the best thing that ever happened to them. They were able to then
go on and persue their own sound. I hear bands year-round; I live
in Bethlehem,PA with Musicfest and a lot of things like that because it is
a musically oriented area. You and your band should check it out sometime.
Keep on Rockin' Chris!God Bless!
*peace*
Chris, I am a big fan of the Turtles (aka Flo & Eddie) and thanks to your "look" and then my hearing you sing and seeing you perform on "Idol" I have become a fan of yours as well as "American Idol" (which I never used to watch). Do you know Mark Volman or perform any songs by the Turtles?? I wish you well....
Jeff Smith
I love your attitude. Thanks for singing DC Talk. You've won already in my book.
Chris my husband and I think you sound alot like David Clayton Thomas. You might want to try one of his songs.
Deb
Chris,
You rock! Keep on singing your favorites -- it's what makes you special. I don't care if Randy, Simon or Paula don't get "We All Want to Be Loved," those of that do are proud that you are not afraid to wear your Christianity on your sleeve.
It's official!! The Powers That Be on AI are EVIL!!
I about had a heart attack when they did the commercial break thing!! LOL
WTG CHRIS!!!
((big ol' hugs!!))
Kay
Congratulations, Chris. Look forward to hearing you sing every week. Ever consider a Roy Orbison song? I think you could show off your full rich voice on one of those classics. Every generation is moved by them.
Chris, I know that you have read hundreds of these comments. But I wanted to let you know that you are our favorite on Idol this season. If you don't win, please promise yourself that you will pursue something in music or comedy. Good luck to you. :-)
Congratulations on making the top 12! Your face was priceless when Ryan had you hanging there before the commercial break. I can't imagine being in your spot waiting for the results. Keep up the good work!
Chris, my brain was so confused tonight. my friends and i always dvr american idol so we can watch it together. i knew the song you performed immediately, but it took a while for it to really sink in. you rock. you've got a good voice and are funny. definitely the best male vocal this week. but above all, you sang DCTalk. they are what got me into music when i was young. thanks for bringing back good memories, man. keep it up.
Chris,
Good luck mate! My prayers are out there for you and your wife. This is a hard road, you are on, and only by God's grace will the doors open. I hope you continue to keep close to Him as your journey continues. Geof R.
Armynurse.blogspot.com
Chris,
Good job mate!. Our prayers are with you and your wife. This is a tough road that you are on, and only by His grace will the doors open. Your attitude reflects who you are and where you have been. I was impressed with several things besides your singing. The first is your sincere apology to comments about Simon and Teletubbies. (I never want to use that word again.) The other was your comments about your wife, and that she is the one for you. That speaks of character. Good job. I hope you keep close to God through all this, as pretty soon (if not already) things are going to come at you fast. I believe you can love Jesus and be a Rock star. Some blokes may disagree, but I think it is all about priorities and idols in your life. From the little I know about you, I think you have them right, and I will join the prayers of your mates back home, as you continue on. Good luck this week, I'll vote for you. Have fun Mate. PS. Know any U2 songs.
Geof R.

Chris,
I wish you the best of luck on American Idol. You are my fav. I love your style, your music and your personality. Whether or not you make it all the way, you are one of the best and I believe that whatever you do in your future will be fantastic.
You are the man!
Love ya!
Deb
You deserve to win this competition..you are, by far, the best!
Something tells me that you are going to give some awesome showstopper performances soon. You know that this is the most crucial part of the competition yet, and one off night (arguing with Simon included) could lead to a bottom three trip, even a potential elimination. Simply put, sing your heart out, always perform to the best of your abilities, and don't get ahead of the chorus! You rock Chris (top 12! :D), and I know that even if you get kicked off first (doubtful), you WILL go far in the music business. Besides, you've been great these last couple of weeks! Kind of odd that Paula criticized you the most of the judges though when you sang "I Just Want to Be Loved." Fear not, you are loved. You are very much loved. :)
--
P.S.: I've noticed that contestants that had worn glasses on the show (e.g.: Clay Aiken, Anthony Fedorov, Kevin Covais) generally seem to get rid of them around the time of Top 10 or earier. You might just follow them in tradition, but NEVER GET RID OF YOUR 'FRO. NEVER.
Your band rocks it out dawg. I am a '98' Eagle Heights grad. We missed each other, although I met your family while you were on deputation. You came to John Tucker's church in Northeast. Not that it matters, but you have some supporters at Eagle Heights. Later on, I attended PCC and graduated from both their undergrad and graduate programs.
Talked with your parents about three weeks ago. They are awesome folks. My pastor attended Temple the same time as your mom. Also my good friend Ryan Price is down here in South Florida with me. Apparently you were good friends with him in school. Ryan and I have wathched a couple of Idol episodes together. We think you have the best vocals on the show. Most people I know feel the same way.
I understand you are busy. If you get some free time in the future. I would love to have a Youth Rally with you. That would totally rock! My e-mail address is brandon_hicks_cruces@yahoo.com
John 12:32
Keep your Eyes on the Prize,
Brandon Hicks
I think you are the best singer ever. You are really funny too! You ROCK!!!
Yo, Chris ... there's some pretty revealing pictures of you floating around the internet. Check out this link:
http://www.nedyken.com/sligh
I'd have to say you're pretty HOT!!!
Good times, good times ...
Rock on, Chris Sligh!!!
I'm obsessed with your voice, but dude - you need to start doing songs that people recognize a bit more. This is American Idol; most of the people watching are either very mainstream or consider it a guilty pleasure...and they are very set in the ways of what they like. Not that you should sing Whitney Houston or something, but your most popular performance so far was still your audition because people had something to compare it to and were able to see how deep, rich, and even a bit sultry your voice really is, man. Also, don't be afraid to go back to the more outragous/sarcastic/witty humor again -- just don't be "disrespectful" (even though I don't think you were; obviously some people did.) You're still my favorite, bro. Rock on.
Chris, you are one of my faves and have been since the beginning. Definitely a fan of your voice but where is that funny guy America fell in love with at the beginning? Your nerves seem to be taking over and I'd love to see you return to the Chris we first met! I would also love to see you pick a Meatloaf song...you have the perfect tone for that and I think you'd 'blow it out of the box' like Randy would say! Hugs and good luck to you! Sheila Roy - Author/poet from NH.
We're so glad to hear you're a Christian. What a wonderful thing we have. A promise. A 100% binding covenant by Christ Himself. His covenant was paying the debt of our sin. His covenant was the promise of living with Him in heaven. Not just a hope. A promise. A covenant which even He, Himself cannot break. Only we can break it. We're proud to call you brother.
We love you on American Idol. You need to sing a soulful song by "Meatloaf". You can handle any of his songs and his songs will definitly showcase what your unique voice can do. It will seriously knock the judges over.
Then go buy a couple CDs by John Elefante. Christian rock. Great voices and harmonies. He was briefly with Kansas. Briefly.
Good luck, Chris. We're pulling for you. Gotta consider a "Meatloaf" song. I'll be buying your CDs soon.
Wow...I just saw a posting by Sheila Roy saying the same thing. You have to do one now. We don't know Sheila and she doesn't know us. Is this one of those ways God works mysteriously?
Christ's Peace to you.
C. Ronald Khite

Dude, you look like u eat too many hamburgers!
Hey, Chris -
You took a risk last night with a new arrangement of "Endless Love". I appreciate that you are not only a FANTASTIC singer, but a true ARTIST ... a very talented musician. You're still #1 in my book. Regardless of what happens tonight at the results show, God has you right where He wants you.
Rock on, Chris Sligh. Rock on!
P.S. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my HPF cd, which I ordered on Amazon last week. :)
...DialIdol says that you are in the bottom 3, bottom 2 maybe!
God, don't go this week! Sure, it wasn't your greatest night (and you seemed very downcast when Ryan recited your phone number), but I'd be so upset if you left! I love ya!
You're SAFE! Did you hear all the screams of joy from your AI message board last night? YAY!!!!!
ROCK ON!
I know someone that looks a LOT like you. Really, I kid you not. He has a brown 'fro, glasses, a sense of humor, and even has a similar sounding voice!...and I knew him before you ever appeared on Idol. Just thought I'd tell you that.
Top 11! Awesome. Not even bottom 3! Hope the next theme week is kinder to you. Diana Ross week seemed very hard on you...in fact, you seemed just depressed after you sang and heard the judges' comments.
Here's my two cents for advice:
-Be yourself. What happened to you this week?...You seemed reserved and quiet, like your nerves were taking over you. Your glasses were gone...and much of your cheerful humor was as well.
-Don't read what people say about you (or ANY current Idol contestant) on the Internet. Your fansites are exceptions (duh), but I have read some horrible s*** about you, Sanjaya, and the rest (even Melinda...) on various reality tv fansites and such. Don't even look out of curiousity. Honestly, don't get me started on Sanjaya...it's awful what people are saying, and they hardly know the guy!!
-Don't be nervous. I know, being on a big giant stage with a huge audience, three judges, 30 million T.V viewers, and the host watching your every move doesn't particularly help your nerves. Your mind goes blank, the lights blind you, and, before you know it, you are brought vaguely down to earth when you hear Ryan say, "So, Chris! How do you think YOU did?"
...
-Finally, show presense on stage. Connect with the song you are singing, and truly feel the lyrics. If you can't truly connect with the song, you might've picked the wrong song. Either way, how you feel will show and be seen and maybe even felt by those watching, and that can have an impact on the voting, especially if you are the unlucky person to perform first. Brandon, right? He was first, and he is gone...
I wish you luck, man! No matter what happens, I'll be there to buy your CDs!
I just wanted to tell you that I LOVED your version of Endless Love. I think it would sound GREAT on the radio, and I am dyimng to hear it again. I can't say that about any of the other songs from 3/13, so I guess that makes yours the best one! I think the judges were totally off-base. PS. Bits & pieces from what i recall are playing in my head... make it stop! :-) From a 50 y.o. man fan.
Chris,
I noticed a Roy Orbison quality in your voice. I hope you pick a Roy song to do on Idol - I think it would be perfect for you!!
Best Wishes,
Robin in CT
Hey Chris i love you, plus iam your biggest fan besides iam your second cousin Allen sligh niece anyways g2g I Love You
Brittany
Your glasses are awesome. Leave them on! And don't let your hair go all flat on the top of your head.
I admire that you wanted to make your own arrangement but I'm afraid I agreed with Miss Ross that you didn't have a melody left when you were done. Do they let you guys record yourselves and listen back when you rehearse?
Some of the TelevisionWithoutPity.com posters are saying you are coming off as arrogant, so you might want to take that into consideration. Be funny, but be yourself, don't "try too hard" or at least don't look like you're trying too hard. Hopefully as the weeks go on you can relax into it.
If next week is really British Invasion week, as the rumors suggest, I think you should do "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place" by the Animals. That would rule.
OK, take care!
Praying for you, Chris. What a blessing to watch you every week! It's wonderful to see what a beautiful talent God has blessed you with! God Bless!
Preordered your CD, but please keep the glasses...
Part of your image now...
Cant wait to see you ROCK on next week. What an opportunity.
Should be much better than a night of Dianna Ross music on American IDOL. The whole show didnt make sense.
(The judges just say things to keep ratings high... The artists should be helpful though.)
Good luck. I don't want to watch it without you. You're doing great!
Miss your humor .... and your glasses. You seem restrained lately ... like you're holding back, afraid to misstep with the American public. I have to imagine, though, that it is tough being in the spotlight, with 30 million people watching you and judging your every move. Bottom line ... keep being who you are ... live from your heart, and let it shine! As long as you do that, everything else will fall into place.
You're AWESOME, Chris. Rock on!
Chris,
I don't know if you remember me, but our families have been friends for years. My mom e-mails your mom all the time, and you went to college with my sister, Sarah. I visited you guys in England in 1998. Anyway... I am really proud of you for balancing your music and your faith. I also go to an emergent church, and I have been spending a lot of time recently studying and learning how to be free in worship. Unfortunately, my early instrumental training will probably never allow me to be as free as someone who starts out that way. I love your Communion Song, and I'm just proud of you for having a clear vision, pursuing it with passion, and giving the glory to God. Your wife is beautiful.
--Lydia (Hawkins) McEvoy
Chris,
I want you to know that my family and I loved what you did with Endless Love on Idol last week. We've purchased the song from the Idol web site for the entire family to enjoy! Whatever you do, don't let the Idol judges dissuade you from your vision. You know what works and I encourage you to continue making music YOUR WAY.
We're all looking forward to hearing more of your "Music Done Right!"

Good Luck on AI... I've been a fan since the auditions and I've been voting. Good Luck,Sing Well and dont get voted off :P (we all know you wont any time soon) I just wanted to say you make AI worth watching. Even the ppl that dont vote for talent but for popularity <3 you so rock on and show them what you've got
Hey, Chris, how about an Air Supply song...like All Out of Love or Every Woman in the World? You were at your best on the Seal song, and it was more recognizable than most of what you've done. Good luck!
I wish you should get TOP3 because I think the winner and runner-up would be not free for musical works.(so it'll be for business.)To make your way as you like, I think it's better the TOP3 than 1st and 2nd.
Cheer Chris!
hey chris,
my husband and i are loyal American Idol watchers, and we thought your version of "endless love" was totally awesome!!! we were shocked when we heard the judges' comments and completely disagreed with them. i guess you have to hear what they say and not let them affect you too, too much.
i'm hoping that you have gotten other positive feedback and can trust that you absolutely made the right decision.
i officially like your version much more than the original.
take care.
Brother, the moment you walked onto stage with "the judges" in the preliminaries - YOU HEARD PAULA and let these words guide you, she said she liked you for you!!!! Just as you are!!! Oh so brother you are blessed with your loving full confident presence entering the stage...YOU full of big curly hair and intrigueing artiste' glasses through which passion spills out in your natural stare, blowing the WORLD away with your vibrato passion, spilling out your gut just as it would on any morning by the sea...heart stirring expressing likr a volcano blowing fire into cool waters spizzz... perfecto steam rising and more...
you are awesome, love ya much!

Good Luck to you on Tuesday. I know you will Rock the House. We here in Encinitas are cheering for you. Every Tuesday we wear our Sligh shirts to remind everyone to vote, vote, vote...
Dude I think you are so attractive it's crazy! your like some super rock star and totally my idol (even if you don't win american idol, which I think you should) I love your music...well i've only heard one song but its a pretty tight music video! Don't ever stop doing what you do, because YOUR AMAZING!!!
Chris, you're doing well walking the tightrope of Christianity and culture. Don't let the detractors get you down. Keep the faith!
Chris you have our vote each and every week. Good luck on this evening!
Chris you have our vote each and every week. Good luck on this evening!
Chris, I think it would be totally awesome if you'd sing some Roy Orbison songs! You would be wonderful!
Chris,
Been a fan of yours since the audition! Your vocal tone, absolutely dripping sarcastic humor, upbeat personality--all rock! But I gotta tell you for overall presentation, ya gotta do a few sessions with a speech pathologist (such as myself) to nip that distorted 's' sound. Get 'Idol' to foot the bill for a few sessions (since they're paying for so much conditioner for your hair, man!) and you'll be golden! It's all good...
Yo man, i saw the fan in the crowd tonight with the "Bringing Chubby Back" sign....that is hilarious, and people are already making shirts and stuff out of that!
www.cafepress.com/chubbyback
A thong that says "bringing chubby back" is priceless by the way ladies
Hey Chris have you ever thought about doing a Elton John song on idol. The other day I was listening to I "Guess thats why they call it the blues" and your face popped up in my mind.
Good luck.
Igor The Great
Dude ... you've got cajones the size of an elephant! Loved your shout out to Dave. Too funny!
Awesome performance tonight. Rock on, Chris Sligh. ROCK ON!
Chubby's back!
Ah .... the Chris Sligh I saw at the auditions has returned. Woot, woot!
I also noticed you have a whole line of merchandise which honors your rotundness:
http://www.cafepress.com/chubbyback
You da man!
Chris, your shoutout tonight RULED THE UNIVERSE.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I just recently heard that you were a missionary kid! So am I! I lived in the Philippines for 12 years. I miss it so much. My parents resigned from the mission field in '99, so it's been a while. It's great to see another fellow MK singing on American Idol! You are doing an excellent job! Good luck and God bless!
Chris you rock! I always vote for you on American idol! My Mom, My Sister and Me always vote for you on three diffrent phones! you totally rock!
i though greenville was in north carolina...i must be wrong...when i first saw you on the show(audition) i liked you immediately...especially with the hasslehoff comment, i saw that too in the finale and i cried so hard from laughing...anyways, God Bless you ,
Aaron Garvie , Whitby, ONT, Canada
Hey Chris - I thought you did great last night (British Invasion). Your best performance yet, imho. =) I was starting to worry that you were trying to hard and not enjoying yourself enough!
You must be getting plenty of votes - I coudn't get through at all last night.
Best of luck.
You made it Chris, loved your voice from day one, rooted for you from the minute I saw you. My husband is so jealous of you, It's so cute..lol All I seem to talk about is American Idol and of course Chris Sligh....I can't seem to stay off the message boards, waiting to defend my man...Keep up the good work....Fan From Trenton Ontario Canada

Fro Patro....I love it. Great humor. Great agape, too. It comes through in how you interact.
I loved the Zombies covers, too. She's Not There gave you a double shot of showing your voice and your rock roots.
Praying for you to be strong. Ps103
Is Melinda <>< ?
Chris,
I love your voice and hope you stay on the show for many weeks! This week puts you on the tour after the season. Stay strong, our Lord will be able to use you in a mighty way.
Oh, read some things in the Herald
yesterday, Mar. 21, don't let people like that bother you, there
are so many out there who are getting to Love you!!! By the way I didn't care for your shirt last night--but then I am 64 yrs old!!!
God be with you. Rae Gilmore, Gaffney,SC
chris since gwen stefani is coming up.you need to sing either u2 or counting crows.you need to blow away the audience with a song that showcases your vocals.like "in a moment"your bands album is great but the added music was a little distracting.
Dude, just blogged about you today (and gave you some sound advice, I might add) - I think you got to meet my friend Natalie in the audience this week.
Fun.
JG
Chris - just wanted to pass on some news of encouragement that you are making a difference! Before you came on idol, my wife, kids, and I had stopped going to church and had unplugged after 17 years of church. We struggled trying to find a place where the kids were happy and we were being fed and praise and worship was more than stand-up and sit-down. After seeing you on idol and learning you came from Seacoast, we visited and have since joined, and are excited about doing "the work of the Lord" once again. Thank you for being there even when you didn't know you were there. Be blessed and good luck on idol - we're voting for you!
I think a great (but little known) song for you to sing if opportunity arises is Melancholy (Blues) ala Red Clay Ramblers. Check it out. It has great melody, pathos, charm, whimsy--it's you--and fits your voice.
I've been like your number one fan since you first came on American Idol, and I am totally rooting for you! And believe it or not, my brother and you used to work together! That's a very small world then..
CHRIS,
I Haven't missed a season yet of American Idol...and after last year I had no plans on watching again. But as I watched just to see who was trying out...I was blown away by your audition. I haven't missed an episode yet, because of you. I want to thank you for being yourself, sticking with your beliefs, and giving the viewers exactly what the show needs...originality. With that said, I would like to wish you the best of luck. I have faith that you will go far and I can't wait for your record release!!!!!
Oh, Chris. You were robbed. I'm so sorry... you were my favorite. I voted for you last night, man! My husband and I are both sad to see you go, and we wish you the best in the future!
Sara Carter
What a rip! They need a new system for grading Idol contestants- good talent is being eliminated-
Chris: Frankly I am glad you got off this ridiculous show- get a good record deal and go for it- none of the credit will ever go to American Idol- do it on your own terms. You have a HUGE fan base already- go for it! You are unique and talented- and we love you band!
you were my favorite on american idol, ever. i have tears running down my face currently because you were just voted off.
i know that its not all sanjaya's fault, but i am very angry with him, and vote for the worst.com.
but all i can say is good luck with the rest of your carrer, everyone in west carrollton, ohio loves you, and god bless.
(:
Chris, Our family voted for you 4 times. You are the favorite of us, but escpecially my 9 year old daughter. She's in tears tonight. She loves your smile, your singing, and who you are. She will be praying for you. Please know she thinks you are the best, and you are her choice for American Idol. Christ has big plans. Stand on the Rock through this. Listen to His promises.
Much Sincerity,
Gayla & Amber Angel
CHRIS!
Oh no!
:(
You'd better get a deal. I'm so upset, you're the first time (other than Judd Harris) where my favorite was eliminated this early. At least last year Daughtry made 4th.
Now we'll never get to hear you sing Know on Idol, or make Hasselhoff cry.
Mad love from your boy...
SirMac
I am so sad I won't see you on American Idol anymore, but God must have better plans for you.
Chris - forget American Idol- this show is the biggest joke of the year! People are rigging the results, this show will be history soon. My friends and I quit watching it because this year it has become too wierd! We are hoping you produce a CD and you will be grabbing a grammy! Just think- you don't have to ever thank Simon and his boring show! Fans are wanting more of YOU and your band! Hope to see you on a tour in Houston, Texas.
My friends and I are in love with you!!!! We started screaming when you got voted off. Sanjya should DEFINITELEY be gone, not you. We got on the internet as soon as possible to find a way to contact you and let you know that we were with you all the way and definitely were hoping for you to win!
We voted for you!
Your fans that LOVE you!!!
One bad performance tanked you. Unbelievable. I think the voters should have given you an extra shot. The other Chris did so much worse...and you sang well at the Wednesday night performance.
Making it to AI is a big achievement in itself. You'll turn out like those AI Rewind folks, blissfully looking back at your experience as a great opportunity...blah blah blah. It'll be alright.
I'm sorry that you did not win American Idol. However, it appears that winning that show doesn't always mean success. I'm sure you will be successful in your endeavors, particularly with your bands. God's peace and good luck in the future.
Ah, man. I am SO sad that you were voted off. I'm in shock!!! It won't be the same watching AI anymore without you. I do have the HPF cd, and will continue to listen to it and tell people about it. Can't wait until your next cd!
It doesn't make sense that you were voted off. Part of me wonders what role the producers played in this. Were they pissed by your "Hi, Dave!" shout out? Did they plan to let you go tonight? I dunno ... I'm just venting .... frustrated and saddened by it all.
I look forward to seeing you on the AI concert tour. Rock on, Chris Sligh!
Go for it Chris! Fans are wanting more of you! American Idol stinks this year! People are calling in and rigging the votes and choosing lesser talent. Viewers are getting tired of it. We love your band- get a record deal and fans will support you! Frankly I don't know how anyone with your talent could stand up there and listen to those three judges pop off... you should of told them to shove it long ago.
AMERICAN IDOL = what a joke....
Good Luck Chris!
You should have made top 5 or 6..
Oh Well, ROCK ON , my friend.
Chris ...
My husband, Ross and I have been cheering your AI journey from our comfy lazy boys in NY. We feel sadness that your AI journey is over because it means you won't be in our TV room 2x a week. But we know AI was just a stepping stone for you ... and that the Lord has your heart and it's desires in His hands and we are confident that means you will be blown away by the immeasureably more then you can ask or imagine that He is waiting to bestow on you.
Keep pressing on .... we appreciate you and look forward to hearing more from you soon.
Praying with you -
Betty Hibler
Chris, you will be missed on AI, but I am looking forward to seeing your blog back. :) You are a star, and everyone will see that soon. Good things are coming for you, I really beleive that.
I am sorry you got kicked out...because we all think you are great...May the Lord bless you, brother...I saw the disappointment on your face, but take cheer! I'm sure our Lord has big plans for you still....Keep on Rockin'
Pastor Dave
You did great, brother! Proud of you! Enjoy what's ahead -- I know you'll make great choices with divine wisdom leading you post-Idol. Thanks for representing Jesus so well.
Someday soon is here, and I wanted you to know that I'm so sorry about idol, but you made a lot of new fans who will be watching for you in the future. You're an awesome singer with an awesome album! I'm looking forward to hearing more from you "someday soon". FRO PATRO!
Chris,
I have never been more excited about a season of American Idol! Your personality and amazing talent have made these past few months a blast!
I can't wait to see you in DC on the tour! I'll be listening to the HPF cd until then. :)
You've gained a fan, and Fro Patro-er, for life! Good luck and God Bless!
Lori, the History Cutie :)
Stay strong. I'm sorry that you got voted off tonight. You are my favorite contestant and singer. I especially appreciate that you have strong faith. Thanks for your courage.
I am from the Philippines. I am a big fan of yours. I think you have a very nice voice and a great personality.
I felt bad when I heard you've been voted off. Again, America got it wrong.
I wish you all the best. I hope you continue to pursue your dream of becoming a rock star. I will look forward to your CD.
You're a great guy, Chris.
Mon Juan
While it might be true that your passion is writing music (perhaps even over singing), I cannot say enough how absolutely shocked and disappointed I am that you are gone from Amercian Idol. I noticed last night, too, when the judges were talking about you being ahead of yourself that, from where I was sitting (at home), it seemed as if your microphone was picking up sounds it ought not to have picked up, giving your voice a hollow, unreal quality -- which is their fault, not yours. I wondered, in fact, if somehow this had been engineered, although I guess that makes me seem paranoid. You have a beautiful voice, a wonderful tone, and a great personality. I hope that leaving American Idol signifies the continuation of long and happy musical career. I also hope a stupidly rich record producer picks you up so the rest of us can have the pleasure of your voice, and you, for many years to come. You were terrific last night, as you have been since the beginning. Along with thousands of other Canadians, as well as Americans I am sure, I am so sorry you are gone. The best of everything to you. Jennifer
Hi Chris,
I thought you were great on idol. You remind me a lot of my 19 year old brother and physically you look very similar.
I just spent the past hour reading your blog, listening to Half Past Forever, etc. Amazing and surprising - that's what I thought about some stuff I read. Amazing because you spent 6 of the past 12 months unemployed, yet you can still joke and laugh on Idol. Surprising as I had no idea you grew up in a missionary church in Germany, nor did I know you played basketball in college.
I wish you well in the future.
Jasmine

I'm so unbelievably upset about this turnout! I will be livid if Sanjaya wins because of people voting for him for Howard Stern and votefortheworst.com. I mean, I don't care it's not like anyone would buy his album, but it sucks that the actual talent is going home because of it! Congrats for getting so far and I know we'll see you again!
Chris, I watched you on American Idol, and you were my favorite from the beginning. Watching you go home tonight just made me so sad. Very unfair as I think you have an absolute amazing voice. Good luck in everything you do and please don't give up - I want to buy a Chris Sligh album soon ;-) That voice is simply amazing.
Oh and do not lose that fro! It's you!!!
I was so very sad lastnight and also so very angry that you were voted off. You have been my fav from the start, from your audition even. Someone like Sanjaya is still there while your not. It just baffles me beyond comprehension. It's not that I do not like him, I just honestly think he does not have the talent to be there, whereas you do. It's just so unfair. I am still a big Chris Sligh fan and will remain so, I have just purchased your cd from amazon :-). I didn't know I could until I just found this site, thank you for that. I wish you so much luck for your future. You ROCK and always will in my eyes.
Thank you for the enjoyment of listening to your wonderful voice.
Patty MacArthur.
P.S. I voted faithfully every week for you.
I don't know what it is about you, but I can't get enough! I wish you all the best. God Bless!
Chris, I am really very sorry to see you leave the show. I think you are very talented. In fact, you were the only reason I even watched this year. I loved your voice, your own unique style, and your willingness and courage to try new material.
In my opinion, TPTB (on American Idol) made a decision that they wanted you gone. And once they make that decision, they usually get their way. They will put you in a less favorable spot in the lineup, they will mess with your song choice and the way it sounds on tv, they will show the guest judge criticizing you ,and of course, the three judges will try (extra hard this time) to completely give you all negative criticism to affect the voting. In fact, Simon wanted you gone so badly that he even asked for extra time to criticize your performance. And of course, it could not have been any more obvious to me how he really felt, when he just had to throw in that last little negative remark on the results show. He actually seemed to enjoy it. Pathetic.
But don't let him or the show discourage you in any way. You have a lot of fans out there who saw your talent and love of music. They realize your great musical potential.
Also to others out there, please try not to blame Sanjaya or people who are now voting for him. The producers/judges allowed him in this competition. So you would have to wonder why? I think many people who are voting for Sanjaya are trying to make a point. I think these people are really trying to make it known to American Idol and also the viewing public that they are very dissatisfied with the way the show is being run and/or "rigged". I think voting for Sanjaya is a way of sending the show a powerful message. I really think unless changes are made, this show is on its way out.
Anyway, Chris I wish you and your family all the best in the future. I hope you have a wonderful, successful music career.
I can't wait to listen to your CD.
Keep the faith!
Best to you. I live in MD but am a Furman graduate with family in Greenville. I hope what you are looking for comes your way. Stay nice.
Just wanted to let you know that I love your voice...amazing quality without gimmicks...I'm sure you will be OK....AI must be the ulimate stress inducer. I felt you're farewell performance was so much better than the night before, to be honest. It was almost like once the weight of second guessing yourself and your choices was off your shoulders, you were free to let it go...you looked at peace and your voice was expressing that...good luck with your future and have a long and happy marriage...AI did give you new fans and exposure, so keep it up... and keep your wonderful and witty sense of humor...
BK
Hey!
Like, you have tons of fans dude!So please don't give up(wich I know you won't 'cause you have a sweet band). If u really love Christ and do his, your gonna be totally blessed.God closes doors nobody can open and opens doors nobody can close. So keep on doing your thing.
I think you did great and far better singer that Singia {sorry bout the spelling} Also I understand that there is a blog out there getting people to vote for the worst singer on Idol sponsered partly by Howard Stern. That is just low..you and Sundance should still be there...
Chris,
I loved watching and hearing you sing on Idol. I am an elderly woman. I just had to write to tell you that God has something very special in your life to do for him. I know you can change the lives of many young people. They need mentors like you. God will keep you in his heart, he will see that you get a wonderful album or CD soon. God loves you, So does everyone else in America.
