Feel free to leave comments, even if you are not a member of blogspot.

Hey, I'm a nice Jewish girl and I don't follow Christ - I mean, you know, we don't! LOL! But I do really like your voice and I think you have a real shot at the crown.

Go, big boy! Go!

You were awesome Tuesday and I thought your comment to Simon was hillarious..
I voted for you for half and hour just for the comment alone, the other half hour was for your talent :)

Good sir, I believe you have what it takes to make it to the top twelve. In fact, I'd be surprised if you didn't make at least the top four. Also, I am digging Mute Math now. So thank you for introducing me to some good music and for having a damn good voice.

Hey, Chris -

Someone on the internet has posted a blog using your name and image:

Just want to give you the heads up.

Your diary of Idol process is great. Funny, clear, so interesting. Reminds me of my favorite Paul Theroux's travel books. Why not be the author of THE book for Idol? Good luck in contest.

Anonymous said...

I figured out the riddle. You took this down until after Idol. Thus the reason you are hoping your blog doesn't come back too soon. I WIN!

Anonymous said...

Chris, your song choice of "Typical" this week was brilliant. I liked your version better than Mute Math's. Songs with raw emotion fit you like a glove and will resonate with the audience. I'd like to hear you sing "Numb" by Linkin Park or "My Immortal" by Evanescence or "Mysterious Ways" by U2. Good luck!

Your music is great and I look forward to buying the new album. No matter what happens on American Idol, you rock -- talent, great personality, hilarious sense of humor and very entertaining!

Hey Chris

Im writing from the UK and you are going to be a huge success.

Saw you on Idol singing Typical - never heard the tune before, but you rocked the house with it.

Keep that up - picking songs with personality is key - none want to hear those dreary rnb/middle of the road dirges anymore - stay true to yourself

Simon Cowell has zero music credibility in the UK. He is great for TV but comeon does he really know about music?

Would he have put through Noel Gallagher, Morrissey, Kurt Cobain if they were broke and had to audition - I doubt it.

So heres the deal - stay true to yourself and I promise Ill buy your album whatever happens on Idol Im sure others will be the same.

OMG .... Chris ... you HAVE to read your American Idol message board, under the topic "Simon vs Sligh" ..... TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!!

One more thing .... ROCK ON!!!!!!

Dude, I've been a fan of yours since I saw your audition. You have a personality, a superb voice, and you're really lovable. Pity the blog had to be taken down here.
I hope you feel really happy reading all these comments, knowing that so many people support you and are behind you every step of the way of your Idol journey. Too bad there are some haters, although it seems that every Idol contestant has them. Some people make me really sick... they're wasting their lives, bashing people they barely know. :(

I'm rooting for you, man! Keep your sense of humor and follow what you believe in. Oh, and you had better be in the Top 12.

From, a crazy Idol/Sligh fan

P.S: I wonder how you feel about Rudy getting eliminated? He was in the same group as you during the Hollywood auditions.

Chris you've got great style and an awesome wit and personality. I heard your voice and thought, yeah this guy could win it all. Have you ever thought about singing a song from the group A Perfect Circle, I believe that you could bring down the house with anything from that band, if they are liberal with your ability to choose your songs. Peace! Greencrush72

Chris,

You don't know me from Adam, but you have had a huge impact on me.

MuteMath should be very concerned with you upping them on their own song, cause I love the way you sang it.

You make me want to learn to sing that song, so that I can have the feeling with me all the time when I heard you sing it.

You do what you need to & keep rocking man, I hope that your singing is doing it for you as much as it is for me.

Chris,
As a fellow "former conservative fundamentalist" who almost auditioned for American Idol this year, I feel like you are living out what I had pictured for myself. I backed out because my parents had concerns about the "Hollywood lifestyle." I'll definitely be watching and voting for you this season. Stay strong in Christ.

Normally, I would never send any type of fan mail to a celebrity (that's you!) because...well, I just don't do that. But I have no qualms about commenting on a blogger. Even if his blog seems to be, um...missing! ;)

Best of luck to you. You seem to be a real person. I love that you dedicated your song to your son and that you clearly adore your wife. No matter what happens on idol, you'll do well in life.

Chris, I don't know you, I have just watched you on American Idol, and as I watched you this last episode just by your behavior and maneurisms I began to wonder, is this guy a Christian? And so I looked online, and came across this blog! I just want you to know how awesome and inspiring it is that in such a non-Christian place Christ's light has still shown through your life. So be encouraged and keep it up! You're great, God Bless!

I'm not really a fan of American Idol...BUT, I do have a decent "ear" and a marketing background. Therefore, I snoop in to watch early parts of the show; and then handicap who I think will win. My batting average is intimidating----from the first edition of Idol to date, I've never been wrong (including World Idol...Kurt Nilsen STILL by far the best Idol contestant ever in terms of pure talent). For 2007, I've got Chris Sligh picked to win. Even with semi-weak performances, his humor and personality can carry him thru. Probably won't watch Idol until the last show; but I project Chris to win it all.

Anonymous said...

My hubby and I think your going all the way and if not you'll still end up a star. Congrats:)

Hello Chris,

I heard your interview about using a strategy to win the competition and thought that you ought to have your "fans" help choose your songs for you.

You have a very good voice but it won't suit all songs so of course you have to play to your strengths, with songs that make the backbone curl.

There is a song by Andrew Roachford called "How Could I ( Insecurity ) which I think would suit your voice. Have a listen, see what you think.

All the best, Duff in the UK

Wow, Chris! I just downloaded your band's new album. Phenomenal. Beautiful. This is my new favorite album! Seriously. I don't say that very often. You guys are truely amazing!!! Wow!

Are you allowed to perform any of your songs on American Idol? If so "know" or "In a Moment" would be great ones for the show. Really, any of them would do - every last one of them is fantastic. I think you would blow the rest of the world away (the one's who haven't yet discovered how awesome you are).

This album isn't coming out of my player for a long time.

Chris,
Good job mate!. Our prayers are with you and your wife. This is a tough road that you are on, and only by His grace will the doors open. Your attitude reflects who you are and where you have been. I was impressed with several things besides your singing. The first is your sincere apology to comments about Simon and Teletubbies. (I never want to use that word again.) The other was your comments about your wife, and that she is the one for you. That speaks of character. Good job. I hope you keep close to God through all this, as pretty soon (if not already) things are going to come at you fast. I believe you can love Jesus and be a Rock star. Some blokes may disagree, but I think it is all about priorities and idols in your life. From the little I know about you, I think you have them right, and I will join the prayers of your mates back home, as you continue on. Good luck this week, I'll vote for you. Have fun Mate. PS. You deserve to win this competition..you are, by far, the best!

Anonymous said...

Something tells me that you are going to give some awesome showstopper performances soon. You know that this is the most crucial part of the competition yet, and one off night (arguing with Simon included) could lead to a bottom three trip, even a potential elimination. Simply put, sing your heart out, always perform to the best of your abilities, and don't get ahead of the chorus! You rock Chris (top 12! :D), and I know that even if you get kicked off first (doubtful), you WILL go far in the music business. Besides, you've been great these last couple of weeks! Kind of odd that Paula criticized you the most of the judges though when you sang "I Just Want to Be Loved." Fear not, you are loved. You are very much loved. :)
--
P.S.: I've noticed that contestants that had worn glasses on the show (e.g.: Clay Aiken, Anthony Fedorov, Kevin Covais) generally seem to get rid of them around the time of Top 10 or earier. You might just follow them in tradition, but NEVER GET RID OF YOUR 'FRO. NEVER.

Your band rocks it out dawg. I am a '98' Eagle Heights grad. We missed each other, although I met your family while you were on deputation. You came to John Tucker's church in Northeast. Not that it matters, but you have some supporters at Eagle Heights. Later on, I attended PCC and graduated from both their undergrad and graduate programs.

Talked with your parents about three weeks ago. They are awesome folks. My pastor attended Temple the same time as your mom. Also my good friend Ryan Price is down here in South Florida with me. Apparently you were good friends with him in school. Ryan and I have wathched a couple of Idol episodes together. We think you have the best vocals on the show. Most people I know feel the same way.

I understand you are busy. If you get some free time in the future. I would love to have a Youth Rally with you. That would totally rock! My e-mail address is brandon_hicks_cruces@yahoo.com

I'm obsessed with your voice, but dude - you need to start doing songs that people recognize a bit more. This is American Idol; most of the people watching are either very mainstream or consider it a guilty pleasure...and they are very set in the ways of what they like. Not that you should sing Whitney Houston or something, but your most popular performance so far was still your audition because people had something to compare it to and were able to see how deep, rich, and even a bit sultry your voice really is, man. Also, don't be afraid to go back to the more outragous/sarcastic/witty humor again -- just don't be "disrespectful" (even though I don't think you were; obviously some people did.) You're still my favorite, bro. Rock on.

I would also love to see you pick a Meatloaf song...you have the perfect tone for that and I think you'd 'blow it out of the box' like Randy would say! Hugs and good luck to you! Sheila Roy - Author/poet from NH.

We're so glad to hear you're a Christian. What a wonderful thing we have. A promise. A 100% binding covenant by Christ Himself. His covenant was paying the debt of our sin. His covenant was the promise of living with Him in heaven. Not just a hope. A promise. A covenant which even He, Himself cannot break. Only we can break it. We're proud to call you brother.

We love you on American Idol. You need to sing a soulful song by "Meatloaf". You can handle any of his songs and his songs will definitly showcase what your unique voice can do. It will seriously knock the judges over.

Then go buy a couple CDs by John Elefante. Christian rock. Great voices and harmonies. He was briefly with Kansas. Briefly.

Good luck, Chris. We're pulling for you. Gotta consider a "Meatloaf" song. I'll be buying your CDs soon.

Wow...I just saw a posting by Sheila Roy saying the same thing. You have to do one now. We don't know Sheila and she doesn't know us. Is this one of those ways God works mysteriously?

Christ's Peace to you.

Hey, Chris -

You took a risk last night with a new arrangement of "Endless Love". I appreciate that you are not only a FANTASTIC singer, but a true ARTIST ... a very talented musician. You're still #1 in my book. Regardless of what happens tonight at the results show, God has you right where He wants you.

Rock on, Chris Sligh. Rock on!

P.S. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my HPF cd, which I ordered on Amazon last week. :)

Anonymous said...

...DialIdol says that you are in the bottom 3, bottom 2 maybe!

God, don't go this week! Sure, it wasn't your greatest night (and you seemed very downcast when Ryan recited your phone number), but I'd be so upset if you left! I love ya!

Anonymous said...

You're SAFE! Did you hear all the screams of joy from your AI message board last night? YAY!!!!!

ROCK ON!

I know someone that looks a LOT like you. Really, I kid you not. He has a brown 'fro, glasses, a sense of humor, and even has a similar sounding voice!...and I knew him before you ever appeared on Idol. Just thought I'd tell you that.

Top 11! Awesome. Not even bottom 3! Hope the next theme week is kinder to you. Diana Ross week seemed very hard on you...in fact, you seemed just depressed after you sang and heard the judges' comments.

Here's my two cents for advice:

-Be yourself. What happened to you this week?...You seemed reserved and quiet, like your nerves were taking over you. Your glasses were gone...and much of your cheerful humor was as well.
-Don't read what people say about you (or ANY current Idol contestant) on the Internet. Your fansites are exceptions (duh), but I have read some horrible s*** about you, Sanjaya, and the rest (even Melinda...) on various reality tv fansites and such. Don't even look out of curiousity. Honestly, don't get me started on Sanjaya...it's awful what people are saying, and they hardly know the guy!!
-Don't be nervous. I know, being on a big giant stage with a huge audience, three judges, 30 million T.V viewers, and the host watching your every move doesn't particularly help your nerves. Your mind goes blank, the lights blind you, and, before you know it, you are brought vaguely down to earth when you hear Ryan say, "So, Chris! How do you think YOU did?"
...
-Finally, show presense on stage. Connect with the song you are singing, and truly feel the lyrics. If you can't truly connect with the song, you might've picked the wrong song. Either way, how you feel will show and be seen and maybe even felt by those watching, and that can have an impact on the voting, especially if you are the unlucky person to perform first. Brandon, right? He was first, and he is gone...

I wish you luck, man! No matter what happens, I'll be there to buy your CDs!

I just wanted to tell you that I LOVED your version of Endless Love. I think it would sound GREAT on the radio, and I am dyimng to hear it again. I can't say that about any of the other songs from 3/13, so I guess that makes yours the best one! I think the judges were totally off-base. PS. Bits & pieces from what i recall are playing in my head... make it stop! :-) From a 50 y.o. man fan.

Your glasses are awesome. Leave them on! And don't let your hair go all flat on the top of your head.

I admire that you wanted to make your own arrangement but I'm afraid I agreed with Miss Ross that you didn't have a melody left when you were done. Do they let you guys record yourselves and listen back when you rehearse?

Some of the TelevisionWithoutPity.com posters are saying you are coming off as arrogant, so you might want to take that into consideration. Be funny, but be yourself, don't "try too hard" or at least don't look like you're trying too hard. Hopefully as the weeks go on you can relax into it.

If next week is really British Invasion week, as the rumors suggest, I think you should do "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place" by the Animals. That would rule.

OK, take care!

Praying for you, Chris. What a blessing to watch you every week! It's wonderful to see what a beautiful talent God has blessed you with! God Bless!

Preordered your CD, but please keep the glasses...

Part of your image now...

Cant wait to see you ROCK on next week. What an opportunity.

Should be much better than a night of Dianna Ross music on American IDOL. The whole show didnt make sense.

(The judges just say things to keep ratings high... The artists should be helpful though.)

Good luck. I don't want to watch it without you. You're doing great!

Miss your humor .... and your glasses. You seem restrained lately ... like you're holding back, afraid to misstep with the American public. I have to imagine, though, that it is tough being in the spotlight, with 30 million people watching you and judging your every move. Bottom line ... keep being who you are ... live from your heart, and let it shine! As long as you do that, everything else will fall into place.

You're AWESOME, Chris. Rock on!

Chris,

I don't know if you remember me, but our families have been friends for years. My mom e-mails your mom all the time, and you went to college with my sister, Sarah. I visited you guys in England in 1998. Anyway... I am really proud of you for balancing your music and your faith. I also go to an emergent church, and I have been spending a lot of time recently studying and learning how to be free in worship. Unfortunately, my early instrumental training will probably never allow me to be as free as someone who starts out that way. I love your Communion Song, and I'm just proud of you for having a clear vision, pursuing it with passion, and giving the glory to God. Your wife is beautiful.

i'm hoping that you have gotten other positive feedback and can trust that you absolutely made the right decision.

i officially like your version much more than the original.

Chris - just wanted to pass on some news of encouragement that you are making a difference! Before you came on idol, my wife, kids, and I had stopped going to church and had unplugged after 17 years of church. We struggled trying to find a place where the kids were happy and we were being fed and praise and worship was more than stand-up and sit-down. After seeing you on idol and learning you came from Seacoast, we visited and have since joined, and are excited about doing "the work of the Lord" once again. Thank you for being there even when you didn't know you were there. Be blessed and good luck on idol - we're voting for you!

While it might be true that your passion is writing music (perhaps even over singing), I cannot say enough how absolutely shocked and disappointed I am that you are gone from Amercian Idol. I noticed last night, too, when the judges were talking about you being ahead of yourself that, from where I was sitting (at home), it seemed as if your microphone was picking up sounds it ought not to have picked up, giving your voice a hollow, unreal quality -- which is their fault, not yours. I wondered, in fact, if somehow this had been engineered, although I guess that makes me seem paranoid. You have a beautiful voice, a wonderful tone, and a great personality. I hope that leaving American Idol signifies the continuation of long and happy musical career. I also hope a stupidly rich record producer picks you up so the rest of us can have the pleasure of your voice, and you, for many years to come. You were terrific last night, as you have been since the beginning. Along with thousands of other Canadians, as well as Americans I am sure, I am so sorry you are gone. The best of everything to you. Hi Chris,

I thought you were great on idol. You remind me a lot of my 19 year old brother and physically you look very similar.

I just spent the past hour reading your blog, listening to Half Past Forever, etc. Amazing and surprising - that's what I thought about some stuff I read. Amazing because you spent 6 of the past 12 months unemployed, yet you can still joke and laugh on Idol. Surprising as I had no idea you grew up in a missionary church in Germany, nor did I know you played basketball in college.

I wish you well in the future.

I'm so unbelievably upset about this turnout! I will be livid if Sanjaya wins because of people voting for him for Howard Stern and votefortheworst.com. Oh and do not lose that fro! It's you!!!

I was so very sad lastnight and also so very angry that you were voted off. You have been my fav from the start, from your audition even. Someone like Sanjaya is still there while your not. It just baffles me beyond comprehension. It's not that I do not like him, I just honestly think he does not have the talent to be there, whereas you do. It's just so unfair. I am still a big Chris Sligh fan and will remain so, I have just purchased your cd from amazon :-). I didn't know I could until I just found this site, thank you for that. I wish you so much luck for your future. You ROCK and always will in my eyes.

Chris, I am really very sorry to see you leave the show. I think you are very talented. In fact, you were the only reason I even watched this year. I loved your voice, your own unique style, and your willingness and courage to try new material.
In my opinion, TPTB (on American Idol) made a decision that they wanted you gone. And once they make that decision, they usually get their way. They will put you in a less favorable spot in the lineup, they will mess with your song choice and the way it sounds on tv, they will show the guest judge criticizing you ,and of course, the three judges will try (extra hard this time) to completely give you all negative criticism to affect the voting. In fact, Simon wanted you gone so badly that he even asked for extra time to criticize your performance. And of course, it could not have been any more obvious to me how he really felt, when he just had to throw in that last little negative remark on the results show. He actually seemed to enjoy it. Pathetic.
But don't let him or the show discourage you in any way. You have a lot of fans out there who saw your talent and love of music. They realize your great musical potential.
Also to others out there, please try not to blame Sanjaya or people who are now voting for him. The producers/judges allowed him in this competition. So you would have to wonder why? I think many people who are voting for Sanjaya are trying to make a point. I think these people are really trying to make it known to American Idol and also the viewing public that they are very dissatisfied with the way the show is being run and/or "rigged". I think voting for Sanjaya is a way of sending the show a powerful message. I really think unless changes are made, this show is on its way out.
Anyway, Chris I wish you and your family all the best in the future. I hope you have a wonderful, successful music career.
I can't wait to listen to your CD.
Keep the faith!

I think you did great and far better singer that Singia {sorry bout the spelling} Also I understand that there is a blog out there getting people to vote for the worst singer on Idol sponsered partly by Howard Stern. That is just low..you and Sundance should still be there...

Chris,
I loved watching and hearing you sing on Idol. I am an elderly woman. I just had to write to tell you that God has something very special in your life to do for him. I know you can change the lives of many young people. They need mentors like you. God will keep you in his heart, he will see that you get a wonderful album or CD soon. God loves you, So does everyone else in America.
