My name is Chris Sligh. As an artist I'm award-winning, critically acclaimed & mildly-to-not popular; I wrote a number 1 song (Here Comes Goodbye) for Rascal Flatts. I'm married to Sarah and I'm deeply in love. Most importantly, I am a Christ-follower.

Chris said " I think radio likes this song!
Ya' think? ; )
Just remember, we predicted it here first. Absolutely marvelous news!
Hooray! :)
Remember me when you are super famous, perhaps I might dine at your table and feast on just a crumb of your glory! You rule and you deserve this.
Um, duh!
I hope you raise the price of your songs:)
WhooHoo!! I think not only radio loves this song, everyone who hears it loves this song.
Congrat's Chris...You so deserve this.
In case it hasn't been posted elsewhere,

About the mid point there is a voice over plug for the album.
Today is Rascal Flatts day on our local country station "New Country 95.7". Have already heard "Here Comes Goodbye" once and am sure will here it a bunch more times. WhooHoo!!
They are giving away tickets to Rascal Flatts upcoming concert in San Diego. Hope I win so I can wear one of my "Sligh" shirts....
::High fives:: all around!! I like the screenshots - that's awesome!
Whoo Hoo! KSSN 96 (actually 95.7), the biggest country station in Little Rock, is playing "Here Comes Goodbye"--caught it for the first time about 30 min. ago.
Good news! Then again, lots of people love Rascal Flatts so I'm not surprised. Pair that with a great song and well, you see the charts! Yay! :)
Are you at Fool's Banquet this year? I understand its being held in Tulsa right now.
Yes – those numbers on the country music chart are impressive!
We just got back from a day at the Mohegan Sun (casino) in Connecticut. Another 2 ½ hour drive. We went specifically to see Melinda Dolittle. She gave a performance from 3:00 PM – 3:30 PM (5 songs), followed by a merchandise signing (her new CD,"Coming Back To You", and the Chicken Soup book). Boy, has she got a powerhouse voice! There were about 500 people at the concert. We watched from the second floor “balcony”. After the performance, we waited for an hour and 20 minutes on line with a couple of hundred others for a chance to talk to Melinda. I had a very nice chat with her and invited her to the picnic. She said she’d come if her schedule permits, so I told her I’d keep her informed. She really was impressed with Chris’s song. And speaking of Chris, “Chris” was a hit and recognized all over the casino (at Johnny Rockets, in the concert crowd, on the autograph line, etc.).
EmilyBoo, this time we did not disappoint:

I have other photos (the first 8 photos) in:

I may post some concert videos after we review them.
It was a simple question. There was nowhere else to ask.
Chris Sligh was there last year, he posted about it, so I see nothing wrong with asking him if he's there this year.

Anon 6:19 AM,
Apology conceded,
Later consideration determined remark in questionable wisdom if warranted.
GDA,
The title "Fools Banquet" would have thrown me too. Weird name to be sure.
DJ
Niques Nanna,
Thank you so much for the copy of the interview/article on Chris in CLM. I loved that particular article and it has great pics of Chris and one of Sarah!
Many thanks!
Grateful DJ in AL!
Rosalee, your Chris is certainly the world traveler!
Risa -
And "Chris" only lost $5 at the slot machines!
OK, birdwalking a bit, but....Super Bowl...Great game, but IMHO, the most awesome thing was hearing Jennifer Hudson sing "The National Anthem." Totally amazing and inspirational.
You are welcome DJ
Disney World?
Chris,
Like Risa said, we all knew it was going to be a big hit. Congratulations! Once again the rest of the world is coming to the same conclusion that all of us have known for some time-- that you have an incredible gift for music.
BTW-- Whats this I hear that you will in Disney World for the grand opening of American Idol at MGM studios? Please give us some details!!
Carmen
Do I need to start looking for my Mickey Ears?
Risa,
Amen to Jennifer being the best thing about the Super Bowl. There aren't many times in my life where the hair stands up on the back of my neck, this was one of those times. She rocked that song, every note!
Disney World? Hmmmm..Another road trip?
Would you believe I've never been to Disney?
LOL...I'm just going down to Disney to take part in the grand opening of the AI Experience at Disney World. No biggie. I'm not performing or anything. I am going to video the whole thing though.
Chris
Chris,
Dude, you know you can't go anywhere or do anything that we don't find out about.........hope that doesn't scare, um, I mean annoy you!
Do something newsworthy while your down there, great press opportunity!
It might still be a really fun road trip...Hanging out at Disney World. Of course you would have to go on at least one ride with Deliah...I can hear her giggling already...lol...
Well considering I live like 2 hours from Disney and I was already thinking of going to see David Cook perform I might as well get the ole ears out.
I got a promo copy of Here Comes Goodbye in the mail today. Was so excited to see your name along with Clint's on it. Very cool. Love! Love the song! I still like the way you sing it better though. But hey I am biased.
And yes Cathy I think you should come to Disney World. Deliah would love it. Do you know that Disney World is so large that you can put Disney Land in it's parking lot?
Chris while you are there try looking for hidden Mickeys. It is a game my family always plays when we go. After having season passes for like 4 years we still find new ones all the time.
We would love to come to Disney World. Can we stay with you Carmen? Think real hard before you answer....three little kids.....
It sounds like so much fun. Audra and the kids have been wanting to go to Disney World as have I. But we are having a hard time just making it to Disneyland right now with everyone's busy life..And that's only 45 minuets away..lol...
Chris Sligh, did you go to Hanson's songwriting thing this year?
I don't have the full list of artists who were there, which is why I'm asking, but I know Weird Al Yankovic and Adam Green were there.

For those of you following AI this year: Look for Kris Allen. He's from Arkansas, a worship leader at New Life Church in Maumelle, here in central AR. I've heard good things about him.
http://www.americanidol.com/videos/season_8/hollywood_hopefuls/introducing_kris_allen
There's a fan group for him on facebook. Just promoting the home boy. : )
I'm not sure who's doing Fool's Banquet this year...from what I understand there aren't many people who go to it more than once in a row.
Chris
OK, Risa. I'm all for Kris Allen but this IS a competetion and MY hometown boy is Scott MacIntyre!
Gotta do some PR for him! His family is UBER-talented. Christian homeschoolers who excell at almost EVERYTHING.
His sister (also born blind) sang at my son's homeschool 8th grade graduation ceremony 4 yrs ago. She sang "The Prayer" at age 14 and everyone's jaws dropped! Check out his brother Todd on YouTube. Music of the Night - WOW!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iASfaCvdEzE
All 3 of them should have tried out this year! They would have all made Hollywood and beyond!
My fave this year is Danny Gokey. Found out after the fact that he's a church music teacher - funny that I'm always drawn to the church folk :). Wondering if he'll take a cue from Chris & sing some Christian music in the Top 36 & beyond. I could go for some more DC Talk, Newsboys, anything!
:)
Snowed in up here in Indy. It just keeps coming. Hope everyone's staying warm! (Clearsa & Cathy, no comments - we all know you're warm). :D
Über or ueber comes from the German language. It is a cognate of both Latin super and Greek ὑπέρ (hyper), as well as English over.
The term in English
Origins
The crossover of the term "über" from German into English goes back to the work of German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. In 1883, Nietzsche coined the term "übermensch" to describe the higher state to which he felt men might aspire. The term was brought into English by George Bernard Shaw in the title to his 1903 play Man and Superman. During his rise to power, Adolf Hitler bastardized Nietzsche's term, using it in his descriptions of an Arian master race. It was in this context that American Jewish comic book creator Jerry Siegel encountered the term and conceived the 1933 story "The Reign of Superman," in which "Superman" is "an evil mastermind with advanced mental powers. Throughout the following decade, Seigel recast Superman into the iconic American hero he subsequently became. It is through this association with Superman the hero that the term "über" carries much of its English sense implying irresistability or invincibility.
Current popular culture
Television
One of the first popular modern uses of the word as a synonym in English for super was a Saturday Night Live TV sketch in 1979. The sketch, What if?, pondered the notion of what if the comic book hero Superman had landed in Nazi Germany when he first came from Krypton. Rather than being called Superman, he took the name of Uberman.

After see it for years finally decided to look it up and find out exactly what it meant..
Kudos GDA. The Uber master teacher!
Lori!
Actually, it's gorgeous out and I'm inside w/jacket on shivering most of the day. I don't get myself sometimes.
Oh, and Chris is coming to my back yard Tempe, AZ last Saturday of Feb. Outdoor concert on the lawn should be perfect temps then. I can't wait!!
You coming Cathy??? Anxiously awaiting word. :o)
Can anyone else swing it?!
And unfortunately, I've got to help put on a workshop tonight and will miss the whole thing!
Y'all post who you like after it's over! Chris, have you been watching at all?
Oh, as a sidenote, Nancy got a call from Central Baptist today and they had an additional $640 from the concert to give us. We thought we had their money from tickets they had sold and we didn't, so Yea! More money for Heaven's Loft. Dave, the music minister (he had to be in TX that weekend) said he has heard nothing but good things about the whole experience and would love to have you and the guys back. I've heard so many compliments about the show. OK, got to make a MK delivery. Later!
I wish I could, Clearsa! Southwest used to run some deals between here and Phoenix, but haven't seen much lately. Y'all have a blast!!!! I may drive over to Memphis the weekend before your event and see the show on Sun. night, depending on what is going on.
Claresa~I am so going to try to make it and so far it looks like I just might. My surgery is 2/11 and just depends on how it goes. I certainly hope so..
Lori~It is beautiful here in So. Calif but the air is a little cold. No shorts and flip flops just yet...
OK well now I just have to point out that my fave Danny Gokey sang... what?... what was that??
KISS FROM A ROSE! in Hollywood.
Remind you of anyone???
Yea I'm freaking out. Brilliant choice if I don't say so myself. Paula was a puddle of mush. She's totally crushing on Danny.
Although I must say Chris' version of KFAR is better :). But still excited that Danny did it too.
This year my local contestant is Von Smith. He is not my favorite one because is is sooo over the top and his theatrics are not endearing to the poor kid. He really got slapped down in Hollywood and was lucky to go on a day.
I am undecided with the women so far. My two favorite men this year are the guy who sang "kiss from a rose" last night. He was the one who lost his wife. A couple years ago some guy sang kiss from a rose and got my attention too. My other early favorite is the guy who I think who auditioned in San Fran and had been in the production "Wicked".
Lori, Danny is my fave right now too. I was disappointed though that Jessica (the girl with glasses from Kansas who cares for her grandmother,) was cut last night, and they didn't even show her sing. :(
Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey yep them two guys
Lori,
I love Danny, pulling for him, however the whole time I was like, oh no, he's doing KFAR! And of course I liked it better when Chris did it too.
Seems like a lot of the Fro Patro is rooting for Danny. I think it's another example of great people attracting other great people :) - thus why the Fro Patro is so awesome and all :). We've discussed this before, though :).
