Hey guys...writing from Cancun!
Wanted to let you guys know that last week on Thursday, the band and I went into the studio and recorded 5 new songs! We got a really good deal on a studio/engineer, so Jason Walker took a day and I took a day. Jason did 4 songs on Tuesday and I did 5 on Thursday. Jon on drums, Walt on bass, Clint on guitar and Jason piano. I played acoustic on a couple of songs.
We were mostly recording to pitch to tv/film stuff, but we got a couple of songs that may be on the next album...they ended up sounding so great. I'll try and throw a couple of songs up over at the production myspace. Right now, they're still rough, but I think they're gonna polish up nicely.
As a side note, I knew my band was great live, but they rock in the studio, too. Skaggs came up with some incredible drum stuff and Walt and Clint rocked their respective guitars. The surprise of the day was Jason Walker, though. I knew he was good, but he blew my socks off! He was channeling Ben Folds and Freddie Mercury in one song and then playing some tasteful licks in some other stuff...really blew me away.
I can't wait for you guys to hear this stuff.

I hope you and Sarah are having a blast in Cancun, and I am looking forward to listening to your new songs.
I hope you're chilling out on the beach somewhere...
Here's a little JT to help:

OK, gonna' try hard not to be TOO jealous of your Cancun trip. LOL Seriously, hope y'all are having a wonderful, restful time.
I have a feeling your musical wheels never quit turning. That was great you and Jason were able to split a deal on the studio--all about a bargain!
Just 27 more days until we get to hear you and your band rock out Nashville! Can't wait!

p.s. Don't know if you guys have noticed, but Chris's website has a chat area. We scheduled a chat on the fansite a few weeks ago...it might be nice to try it over at www.chrissligh.com. Anybody want to try it one night this week, maybe like Thursday around 8 central? (trying to find a time not too early for pacific nor too late for eastern).

I'm game. The time is good. We'll give it a workout.
I must admit that I have had the privilege of hearing two of Chris's new songs, and they are both incredible. Loved both of them immediately and usually for me it takes a few listens to fall in love with a song. But like with Chris's previous work, it was instantaneous. Love at first listen!
And a special thanks to Chris and Sarah for being so gracious when they unexpectedly found themselves and their privacy invaded by this adoring fan for a couple of days.
Love you both!

Jane,
Hope you are doing well. Just wanted to let you know that I loved your book. You are very talented!
Chris,
You and Sarah have a blast in Cancun. I can't wait to see both you & Sarah nice and tan for the picnic. Looking forward to hearing those new songs--even in the rough stages. BTW-- did you get the pic I sent of you with the credit card?? Just wondering.
To all if you who have not registered for the picnic yet. If you are planning to come please do register. Also we have a picture of the official Fro Patro Picnic shirt up on the site now. If you can't make the picnic you might still want to get a shirt to wear for the fourth of July. They are very patriotic and of course feature the Slighmaster. Check it out at

Cancun? Excellen!
Have a blast!
Sending you and Sarah love from DJ in AL!
Ah, Cancun! How I wish I were there! Relax and enjoy yourself.
Cancun sounds like a place I should be right now. Nice and relaxing and beautiful scenery.
I know musicians are always writing new music but I didn't expect you to have a bunch done already! I hope we get a preview sometime soon. BUT for now... enjoy your vacation with Sarah.
Oh wow, I hope you & Sarah are doing a lot of just relaxing and spending time together. I just got back from Atlanta on thursday night, it was fun. I went to a few Braves games & to the World of Coca-Cola.
Chris, I hope you are relaxing and spending lots of time with Sarah! Vacations aren't for working! (Although I guess I can't complain because I like what I heard of the new music.)
Carmen, I love the shirt! Regretfully, I can't come to the picnic, but I may just get one of those t-shirts!
I know that it has been decided that the blog is not the place for such items, but since right now most of the activity is taking place here I am asking all my fellow Fro Patro buddies and Chris to pray for Amanda. Jan has posted that Amanda is in grave condition and the family has been told that it is only a matter of time. Though my heart doesn't want to believe this and I am praying as though it is not inevitable I ask that if you believe to please say a prayer for Amanda and her family. She has indeed pulled off miracle after miracle and I'm not discounting that she can do it again.
Thanks guys!
Sending love and prayers from DJ in AL
