A Couple of Things

I saw the Ken Barne's article about my chart position.  He is right that I've been at #19 for a couple of weeks.  However, from what I'm being told, there's nothing to be worried about with where we're at.  With the way that Christian Radio works, there are stations that will not add a song until they have gotten testing back.  And every radio station involved will not put the song into heavy rotation until the testing has come back.  Testing usually takes about 6-8 weeks from when they add the song.  Our single's release date was Feb 22...so, we're just now getting research back for the stations that added week one or the stations that started testing week one.

We are hearing that testing is coming back out-of-this-world good, so the team around me feels pretty confident that we'll see the single start to climb again in the next few weeks.  If you look at Matthew West's single, he was on the chart for close to 20 weeks before he broke the top 5.  We've only been on the charts for 6 weeks.  It just takes time.  If you look at the top 20, no one is moving up substantially except the huge artists like Third Day.  We're doing great right now!

Secondly, I'd love to have you all post reviews of the album street week.  Just 2-3 paragraphs would be great.  On May 6, I'll start a discussion thread that will be dedicated to your reviews.

Thirdly, I just posted another Theological Digression.  So, check that out.

Fourthly, I posted another Adventures of Sligh.  So, check that out.

I can't wait to review the cd, I'm just afraid of coming off too biased. Thanks for the blogs. I've been having a pretty crappy year so far and simple things make me smile.

I woke up and saw Jason Mraz, "I'm yours" show up on VH1 countdown at number 11. I am pretty sure that song has been around on you tube since March. If I remember right he has been on that countdown at least twice before with other videos. Now of course these are videos but in light of what you just told us it appears nothing moves fast. Much to my frustration I have yet to hear Empty Me on my local Kansas City K-love and yet I am full of patience, faith, and long suffering because it just has to happen one of these days soon. I do know for a fact that one of the K-love managers here loved you on Idol.

I read your Theological Digression blog. I'm so glad your posting there. I miss reading it.
You mentioned you added 3 more weeks in June to your tour. Wow...You are so busy. Any chance some of those will be in So. California?

I have my own theological digression. I was sitting in church tonight, intently listening to the sermon, when a phone went off. Mine. Playing LOUDLY, "The Communion Song" by Chris Sligh. Yes, they heard it 3 churches down the street. I just grabbed my purse and ran out the back door. There was no use hunting for it to turn it off, because I had dug in my purse (problem, it's mini-suitcase size) to turn it off in the truck before we went in and I couldn't find it. So, I decided I must have left it on the kitchen counter. Wrong assumption.

So, before the CD's arrive, I've introduced the entire congregation to your music. I'm doing my part! LOL

You know we will be happy to post reviews and whatever else we can do to help. We believe in this album, Chris, and we believe in you!

Interesting info about the testing. Do mainstream stations operate this way too? I think you're destined for Number 1 with a Bullet. (and Ken Barnes is often a bit of a mess)

Risalea, great story!!

I'm sure Empty Me will go higher. The release of the album should boost it, right? I don't know how these things work though.

Since I can't afford the trip to Nashville, I was excitedly looking into camping reservations so I could go to the Cherry Festival show on July 6... but the closest park I can find that isn't completely booked for the dates I want is almost 40 miles from Traverse City. Which I was OK with, until I realized that the show is at 9 PM! I can't bring my kids to that! *so sad*

I'm very happy to see new posts in the other two blogs though! I'm off to read them!

So THAT explains it! I discovered my local K-Love station trying to hear "Empty Me" on the radio. I would listen to it every single time I was in my car and fell in love with the station but, alas, only heard my song one time. It's kinda unfortunate that they do things that way though...I kind of feel like I have two or three cd's that play over & over...they don't stray much from the same songs all day long. I love most of 'em but I wish they would mix it up more sometimes. I guess rock & pop stations do the same...
But I want more Chris!!!! Can't wait to get my hands on that new cd......

I'm glad to hear this news as I was getting very frustrated not hearing Empty Me in AZ. I've heard it ONCE on Radio Shine out of Prescott. Never on K-Love except for when you were there in-studio. So that doesn't count. Now I'm totally sick to DEATH of K-LOVE. It's starting to turn my stomach on the mentioned Matthew West single. It's a GREAT song that I'd hate to get sick of. So I must pull out!!!

Like Carrie said about being biased in writing the review; I'll try to "watch" that! :o)

Great to read ya in your other blogs again too. And I think I've played the GMA video a hundred times. LOVE watching you have the time of your life.

Risa, funny story. I could easily see that same thing happening to me. Theological digressions indeed!

I don't think anyone should worry about your chart standings. Good things come to those who wait, Right? Your awesome and down to Earth and people will love your CD for that:) (I should mention I am Cathy's daughter not just some looney:)

It could have been much worse. I could have had "Shake Your Bootie" or some other inappropriate ditty for my ringtone. LOL I guess it's good I'm headed to CA on Thursday to give the preacher a chance to forgive and forget my transgression. : )

I'm with you guys on K-Love. I've been listening a lot trying to hear "Empty Me" without success, but other songs I have heard ad nauseum. I'm ready to protest! (but I'll try to be nice and patient).

Lets start calling them and requesting it. Maybe that will wake them up.

1 800 525 LOVE (5683)

We are the fans and we aren't hearing what we want but we are hearing the other 35 songs over and over.

Good idea, bad. Thanks for the number. I'm calling starting in the morning.

OK, wasn't sure where to post this...didn't want to interrupt the discussion of the songs.

Paula--commenting on the performers after round one, critiquing Jason's two performances when he had only sung once, means one of three things:
1. The tabloids are right about Paula...
2. OR they take notes based on rehearsals and her notes got mixed up
3. OR they are told what to say and she just got confused.

None of the above is good.

It just proves what we've suspected all along - that the judges' comments are not based upon the current performance and/or they are being told what to say. This really damages the credibility of the whole show. I hope that Paula's "mistake" causes an uproar.
