LOL Doing different things (whether you are a songwriter or something else) is what makes you grow. I'm trying to get some of that in my own life. I like it alot!
I love that it is long too. When I like a song, I don't want it to end quickly. I want to put on my headphones and lay back and let it take me away and keep there while. This one does that. It has different twists and turns musically and it keeps your interest & makes you feel like you are a part of it's story.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17239240898702895273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31810036.post-47513033590578474942008-07-28T10:29:00.000-05:002008-07-28T10:29:00.000-05:00There is no start date for recording the next albu...There is no start date for recording the next album. But I have 11 songs that are good enough to make a record right now. Now, over the next few months, as I write, I'll be trying to beat certain songs to knock them off the record, making the best record possible. I'm guessing I'll probably start recording next summer, though. Wow...still have a year before that happens!

Anyway, there are a few songs that for art's sake will definitely be on the next record, this one included. I've been trying to write a song like this for 3-4 years.

The idea is based on the classical form of A-B-C-A. Chopin used it a lot, Liszt, Shubert, etc. You have an A section that you introduce, then you move from that to a B section. The B section is usually the shortest of the 3 (if you count the A repeats). The C section then comes in and is the longest. In this case I have the C section that includes almost a chorus (the "I'm home, finally home" section). Then after the C section has built up sufficiently, the A section comes back around. It's obviously not pop songwriting, but it was something different and cool and something that was a nice exercise in songwriting.

ChrisChrisSlighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05081118898217527399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31810036.post-7660339685131460052008-07-28T10:06:00.000-05:002008-07-28T10:06:00.000-05:00I love the music! I just got home and am pretty tired so the first half of the song was just so nice and mellow. I know I mention them a lot but this (the way its set up, not the song itself) reminds me of MFEO by Jack's Mannequin because it's almost like two songs combined in one an that song is almost 7 minutes itself. Anyway no one probably knows who that band is but you should look them up -- amazing.

But back to the song, I like it!
